Townhouse with unobstructed views of the Sangre and Jemez mountain ranges from every window. Sunset deck off master bedroom. Second bedroom also has full bath. Located in quiet neighborhood, with open space and miles of trails. Large 2 car garage. Gas kiva fireplace, beams and vigas exude Southwestern feel. Santa Fe enjoys a semi-arid climate. Due to the 7000-ft elevation, summers are extremely mild with warm sunny days and cool breezy nights. Air conditioning is seldom necessary in Santa Fe (although this townhouse does include it). There is a double inflatable bed available; in good weather, it could easily be used in the large garage.

Nestled between the Sangre de Cristo Mountains (east) and the Jemez Mountains (west), winters are usually mild although nights are often below freezing. The low humidity and clear blue skies free from and smog produces one of the most healthful in the US. Sun shines 300 days/yr. As an Easterner, this climate is super, as the aridness produces much sunshine and little humidity, which, at both hot and cold temperatures, makes one feel great!

Skiing and reservations: Santa Fe Ski Bowl is 30 minutes away by car with good road conditions. Taos is 60 minutes away with good road conditions. To reserve, please first contact me through email or phone. I require a 25% deposit at the time of booking. The balance is due 2 weeks before your arrival, at which time I send you directions, how to get the key, etc.

Nearby sights and activities: We're just 15 minutes from the Santa Fe Plaza and a short ride to Bandelier National Monument and Native American pueblos. Santa Fe offers many museums including the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum and the International Museum of Folk Arts, a fascinating children's museum, and Canyon Road, a winding street of art galleries and fine shops and restaurants. In summer, the Santa Fe Opera and the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival put on highly-praised performances. The Lensic Theater, near the town plaza, is open year-round presenting a wide range of music, dance, and talk. A beautiful 60-mile drive along the High Road brings you to the unique and colorful town of Taos. Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, Wheelwright Museum, Santa Fe Children's Museum, and Palace of the Governors. Also numerous art galleries including those found on famous Canyon Road.

More...: Excellent restaurants featuring cuisine from around the world: shopping, massage: the exquisite Japanese-style bathhouse, Ten-Thousand Waves, and other health spas. For outdoor enthusiasts: Indian ruins, hiking, biking, golf, tennis, wildlife, horseback riding, river running, downhill and cross-country skiing, and more. Marvelous world-class festivals found only in Santa Fe including Indian Market, Spanish Market, International Jazz and World Music Festival, and Hot-Air Balloon Festival just an hour away in Albuquerque.

Other Activities: Art galleries galore! Native American cultural activities; Albuquerque Balloon Festival

At first the owner appeared to be providing adequate customer service. And per the owner's listing, WiFi was included. It was not, and the owner promised to reimburse us $70 - I have her email stating so. Subsequently, she's decided NOT to reimburse us, listing her service to recommend a cooking class to us as a "concierge" service! She imagines that to be worth $70. She's taken WiFi off her ad, so be sure to bring your laptops, as she has some sort of internet cable coming out of the wall. To be fair, the townhouse was mostly as promised; the two queen beds were very comfortable, and the place itself is very spacious. Lovely kitchen, well appointed. Great towels and linens. Very tiny TV - there was a larger one in a closet; guess it didn't work? However, as far as it being well-maintained, I would take exception. A very large and heavy sliding glass door blind was not secured, and fell on top of me. I'm glad it didn't happen to a child! When I told her of us, she had a handyman come in to put it back in place and, according to her, he charged her $86. However, not my fault, as I did not cause this in the first place. The photo you see in the ad is misleading - there was NO furniture on the patio deck; we went down to the garage, found an old card table, and 3 rather scroungy plastic chairs and one other chair. The deck was a huge selling point for us when we arranged to stay here; we wanted to be able to enjoy the gorgeous NM sunsets - we were not disappointed. Other somewhat annoying but much less dangerous problems: a microwave that had a dinner plate in place of the glass plate usually found in an MV - there was a note attached to the MV informing of us. The washer/dryer combo worked well, if exceedingly noisy. Impossible to have a conversation in the LR when it was on. We had to buy our own toilet paper as the TP provided was something one would only find in a gas station rest stop. This place does NOT sleep six comfortably. The two queen beds are suitable for two couples; the lumpy couch does not pull out to be a bed, and there was queer sort of foam chair that unfolded, and in a pinch would do for a small child. I've rented HomeAway vacation homes in France and the UK, and came away exceedingly satisfied with them and their owners. Not so in this case. I could not recommend this property to a friend or relative. The owner has been deceitful and somewhat foolish, I'm sorry to say.

Owner response: First, this is my first review below 4 or 5 stars. This guest gave me a 5-star review and then withdrew it and replaced it with a 1-star review when I told her I would not rebate her the $70 for the Wifi. The blind repair was $76. I do not collect a damage deposit because people usually do not break anything. It's very difficult to tell who is at fault when something breaks. Other perks received included the following. I arranged a cooking class with a Santa Fe food critic who is a friend of mine, and accepted her party's payment in 4 separate checks/credit card payments, at least one of which was late. I had forgotten to take the Wifi off my ad, but spent at least 5 hours with Comcast to get Wifi installed. Comcast agreed to install it the day before the guests arrived, using my lockbox key to get in. I made it clear no one would be there. I have this in writing as I engaged Comcast in the form of a chat with a Comcast representative. About an hour before the install, I got a call from Comcast confirming my appointment. I reminded them at this time that no one would be there and there was a lockbox key to get in. However, when the tech arrived, he called and said he could not go into my property without someone being there. If they had informed me of that in the first place, I would have arranged to have someone there. In fact, my handyman had just been there about an hour before the Comcast tech arrived, which was in the last minute of their promised time period. I was also confused about complaints about the sleeping arrangements. My ad says, "2 BR, 2.5 BA; sleeps 4; with comfy couch, sleeps 5." There were only 4 guests. They knew ahead of time there were 2 queen beds and that the other 2 sleeping spots were a couch (which I have slept on many times very comfortably, and a pull-out chair. (I have found that couches that pull out to be a bed are never comfortable anyway). I was unaware that 2 of the deck chairs were falling apart. I know there were at least 2 other ones that were usable. If she had let me know about this problem, I would have gotten 2 chairs delivered to her by my handyman immediately. The harsh sun destroys everything left out on the deck so I choose, for financial reasons, to not buy expensive deck furniture. I have since added 2 new deck chairs. TV size is shown in photo. 2 of the other guests wrote emails to me, telling me what a great condo I had and what a good time they had, especially with the cooking class. No complaints.

We had a lovely time in Santa Fe. This town home was warm and welcoming. Very comfortable accommodations. We especially enjoyed seeing the scenery and stars from the deck. Both bedrooms very comfortable. Beautiful artwork decorated the space. We'll be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our month's visit in this comfortable, homey condo. Having both bedrooms with en suite bathrooms was great for 2 women. Everything we needed to prepare meals was readily available and the washer/dryer was so convenient. Loved the indoor garage, much nicer than on street parking. We felt very safe walking all over the 15 miles of asphalt trails throughout the housing areas. The trails (and park across the street from the condo) made this a perfect place to be with our pooches who love their daily walks. Shopping, (Albertson, Target, WalMart, Penny's, etc.) only about 3 miles away. Kathy (condo owner) provided great tourist info and maps. A small problem with a leaky toilet was quickly resolved with a phone call to Kathy who called her local serviceman to repair as quickly as he could. Kathy is great to deal with on a personal level and I would definitely stay in her condo on my next visit to Santa Fe!

The property had everything that was expected and more. The owner was extremely accommodating.Property was clean & well maintained. The location was great - we wanted close to places of interest but not right in the hub of downtown. There was a major shopping center nearby. Tons of walking tracks close to the property. There were 4 of us (2 from Colorado and 2 from Australia) Santafe and Taos were fascinating - something not seen elsewhere in the USA. We would thoroughly recommend the property for your stay in the area and also would recommend Santafe/Taos as must places to visit. Given the opportunity we would gladly return to this property. FYI price was very reasonable compared with others nearby. Thank you so much for recommending this property through home away.

Kathy, We have stayed in several vacation rentals, in CA, WA, AZ, and this house has by far been the very best! It’s clean and so welcoming. You have made this a home, and we thoroughly enjoyed our brief weekend stay. We have already talked about coming back for a much longer stay. It’s so quiet – what a delight! Wonderful, close walking trails – it’s been great. Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality! Jim & Shelly Colorado

                      Owner info

                      Year Purchased: 2008

About the owner: This is my second vacation rental property. The first is a log cabin in Vermont on Lake Champlain, 45 minutes north of Burlington (VRBO #226970, homeaway 124362). That property I built from scratch, buying the lot and being the general contractor on the log home. As my children got older and didn't want to spend the summers at the cabin, I started to rent it out. That's how it started. It was so successful and I enjoyed it so much that I bought the Santa Fe property, in a much different location! I also enjoy displaying my watercolor paintings at the properties. I have 3 dogs, 2 daughters and 1 cat, and live in Indianapolis most of the year. I've worked in the past as an actuary and a software tester.

Why the Owner Chose Other Santa Fe Properties:
For me, Santa Fe has perfect weather, including four seasons. It is usually sunny and dry, even in the winter when there is snow. I also greatly enjoy exploring the Native American and Hispanic cultures.

The Unique Benefits at this Townhome:
I love the mountain views and the quiet neighborhood with miles of walking trails.
