Lakemont cottage description
'Overlook' is a traditional summertime cottage situated on acres of woods on the west side of Seneca Lake. Its best features are its privacy - both on the beach and at the cottage - its location, charm, and price.
Sitting on a bluff, Overlook is shaded all-around by trees--so it stays nice and cool, even in the heat of summer. Our previous guests, a number of whom stay with us year after year, tell us they love the quiet and privacy our cottage affords. You won't see anything but trees and the lake around you.
Don't let the rough exterior of the cottage fool you--the most common responses of guests when they first arrive at our cottage is 'charming', 'how cozy', and 'how lovely.' We are pretty simple in that we don't have all of the frills of some other cottages (e.g., no hot tubs here!), but, the cleanliness and private setting of our cottage more than makes up for what we don't have.
Overlook Cottage is divided into thirds; the first third, is a full-length, screened-in porch overlooking the lake, perfect for relaxing, rain or shine! (It's everyone's favorite place to hang out!) One side of the porch has a cushioned glider inviting you to sit and read or nap; the other side has a large table and chairs -- just right for eating and playing cards or games.
The middle third is a warm and inviting combined kitchen/living area with sofa and a large overstuffed chair has large windows opening out to porch, for views of lake from inside the cottage. The back third includes two small bedrooms, each with one double bed and dresser, and a renovated bathroom complete with shower. Overlook's size makes it perfect for two adults; our most common renters are couples with or without one small child.
Outside the cottage, you'll find parking (on same level as cottage), a clothesline, campfire ring, and BBQ grill. You're also a few steps away from a multi-level staircase that takes you down to a very private dock and beach area that is yours alone to use...you won't believe how much privacy you have! Another campfire ring is perfect for watching the shooting stars and viewing the Milky Way while sitting around a campfire!
If you're visiting the region's wineries, you'll find that we are perfectly situated right in the middle of Seneca Lake Wine Country with plenty of large and small wineries on both Seneca and Keuka Lakes within easy driving distance. In fact, you won't find another location so close to so many great wineries. Our close proximity to Watkins Glen, Ithaca, Geneva, and Corning and their many activities is also great, making our cottage the perfect spot for your vacation getaway. See below for many more activities to be found in the surrounding area. If you're coming for the fishing, we also offer parking for boat trailers.
'Overlook' offers you a personal touch, great location, and peace and quiet -- the best value of any cottage, of that we're sure! Please contact us for open dates and more information.

My partner and I recently spent a wonderful week and this cabin and I can't recommend it highly enough. It is so remote that it couldn't be a more private little haven, surrounded by the woods on one side and the lake on the other. Everything we could possibly need was stocked in the kitchen (it had for more utensils and things than my kitchen at home!) and I don't think we really found ourselves wanting for anything that we didn't have. The place is surrounded by wineries on either side (the closest is literally a two minute drive away). We sampled some of their wares and they were delicious. The hot days were spend swimming in the lake or sitting on the end of the pier or skimming stones. One day, it rained and you might think that was a bad thing for a holiday but sitting out on the screened porch and listening to the rain and watching it fall in the forest was the most wonderful thing. I would highly recommend this cabin. The owners have really thought of everything and were an absolute pleasure to deal with. We hope to return next year.

A Great Escape!
A Great Escape!
This will be our third summer heading up to this lovely cabin on Seneca Lake. The cabin is well-maintained, very private, and perfect for a couple looking for a week of peace and tranquility in the beautiful Finger Lakes. Highlights of our stay each year are meals on the screened porch, lounging by the lake on the very private beach, and evening lakeside fires. Location is great; near great state parks, charming wineries, and not too far from some bigger towns (in case you need to pick up some forgotten essentials).

Nature's Peaceful Haven
Nature's Peaceful Haven
My husband and I have rented this cottage for a week each summer for the past 6 years. We love this simple, comfortable cottage in the woods. The constant sounds of the lake lapping against the shore helps melt the stress away. The beach area is very private with plenty of sunshine from early morning till mid-late afternoon. For a simple, affordable break from the rat race this very clean summer spot is perfect. For nearby adventure, one can visit many wineries, have dinner or go to a movie in town (Watkins Glen), play golf or go hiking at the nearby State Park. The large screened in porch makes even the rainy days and "buggy nights" bearable if not delightful. And don't forget bonfires on the beach at the fire pit if you wish.

We have made Overlook our summer retreat the past six years, and always look forward to the perfect place to recharge, and enjoy it's peacefulness and scenic views. Inside the modern conveniences such as full size fridge, microwave and stove are a plus. There is a cozy living room with a DVD player for those few rainy nights. The biggest plus is the large size screened in porch that overlooks the lake and surrounding woods. You can curl up with a good book or eat all your meals here, enjoying the great surroundings. When we're not down by the water, the porch is where we always spend the majority of our time. The private lake front area with woods surrounding it is quiet, peaceful and offers a great view of Seneca Lake. This cottage is also convenient to many wineries and less than a ten minute drive to Watkins Glen.
