A Mexican Style house a 7 minute walk to the historic centre of Guanajuato. The house is on a quiet street with 8 or 9 other houses, all with private, gated parking. Walk to the centre, down narrow, often pedestrian only, streets (and take a $3 cab ride back up the hill again if you wish!). The University of Guanajuato, with its self-learning language centre, as well as excellent small language schools are within easy walking distance, as are good restaurants, fun markets and quality museums. A 3- minute walk up the street from the house you will find convenience stores, green grocers etc. and real Mexican street life, including a family who sells wonderful barbecued chicken!
The house has the traditional vaulted brick "boveda" ceilings in every room with hand made Mexican tiles on the walls and floors. The furniture is a mix of Mexican antique and locally made custom furniture. New quality mattresses and bedding in all three bedrooms and decorative Mexican textiles and locally made light- fixtures and crafts throughout.
There is a small study overlooking the living room with a new HP computer with high speed internet and an HP Photosmart Printer. (Ink and paper supplied by the renter.)
There is also an extra room that can be used as an art studio, (or to just do some ironing!) The generous roof top deck overlooks the local church and the surrounding mountains - a great place to relax in the sun or watch the moon rise and the stars come out and fill the nighttime sky.
The maid will come and clean once a week, and will take care of laundry and ironing for a small fee, if you prefer to not use the washing machine in the house. Our rental agent in town, who speaks perfect English and who will get you settled when you arrive, is always ready to answer questions or help with any issues that come up.
