This private home adjacent to the National Forest has spectacular mountain views. At 10,001' altitude, the home is surrounded on three sides by towering Aspen and Pine trees, hidden at the end of a private road for complete seclusion.
Winter
* Slope-side. 300 feet of direct ski-run frontage makes it fun to stop for lunch, hot chocolate, gear changes or just a break by the warm fireplace. Invite friends to stop Après-ski on their last run of the day. Book a ski instructor to ski to your back door in the morning to pick up the kids for lessons. When it starts to snow, pop in for powder skis or snowboards to take advantage of the fresh pow-pow. Enjoy "fresh tracks" each morning as the first down the ski run, before the lifts even start turning!
* Telski. World-class skiing with 18 lifts turning, 2 high-speed gondolas, 120 ski trails, Nastar course, terrain parks, back-country, hike-to, extreme & heli-ski terrain. A Town Unlike Any Other
* Telluride (population: 2,221) is different. Don't look for a Wal-Mart, a gas station, a neon sign, a lift-line or even a single traffic light - there are NONE! Telluride's character and growth have been strictly controlled by the Historical Commission. Telluride is nestled in a "box canyon" surrounded by the steep-forested San Juan Mountains; the topography of this historic mining town makes growth in any direction impossible! The entire town is designated as a historical district and maintains a small "mining-town" charm, with strictly-governed Victorian architecture. Explore the abandoned mining camps and frontier ghost towns which dot the hillsides.
* Mountain Village (population: 978) is Telluride's companion town at the heart of the ski area. A european-style alpine community nestled high above the Town of Telluride at 9,500+ elevation. The sister towns are connected by a free gondola system operating over the mountain tops. There is no need for a car as homeowner guests enjoy free on-call SUV service anywhere in Mountain Village.

Map & Owner's Profile
Spectacular 7-Bedroom Ski-in / Ski-Out Luxury Trailside Home!
Year Purchased: 2007
Why the Owner Chose Mountain Village
We chose to buy a home in Telluride because Telluride is unmatched in North America. In the winter, the ski resort has 18 lifts turning, two high-speed gondolas, 120 ski trails, NASTAR course, terrain parks, backcountry and hike-to terrain, along with new extreme & heliski terrain being added each season. And since it is so hard to get here, the ski runs are always wide-open, and there is never a lift line.
In the summer, the golf course, hiking, mountain-biking and fly-fishing is outstanding.
Telluride is surrounded by mountains and has only 2221 residents - that's smaller than Mayberry. The topography is a box-canyon, so it cannot grow in any direction. There are no crowds, bad attitudes or aggravation. The entire Town of Telluride is designated as a historical district, so the town maintains an "old west" mining-town feel with strictly-governed Victorian architecture and many interesting places to explore (abandoned mining towns, ghost towns, etc.). Hop in your four-wheel drive and you can cross over the mountain passes and explore Telluride's mining past. Don't expect to see a chain store, a chain restaurant, a Starbuck's, a gas station, a neon sign, traffic, or even a single traffic light - (there are none). This town's character and growth has been strictly controlled and restricted by the Town Council and the Telluride Historical Comission, and there have been no compromises. This is not Vail or Aspen - you will not find evidence of a single commercial sell-out in the Town of Telluride. This home is located on the ski mountain at 10,001' elevation, so it extremely private with incredible views, yet just a short run down the mountain and you are in the Village Core with the all the amenities offered by the 5-star resort hotels. If you are flying, the airport is just 10 minutes from the home, and can accomodate private planes and smaller commercial aircraft; however, be prepared for the landing of your life on the mountain-top runway.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Ski-in / Ski-out. This alpine luxury mountain home offers some of the best ski-run frontage in Mountain Village. Over the years, our family has rented many homes that were represented as "ski-in" or "ski-out." Unfortunately, most turned out to be only "ski access." This always meant a long hike (with gear and kids) at the beginning and/or the end of the day. This can sap the fun and energy out of a ski day for both the kids and the adults. Loading up a car, fooling around packing equipment, dealing with snow and ice on the roads, looking for parking - do you really want to mess with all of this frustration? When you stay in this home, you do not even need a car. As the home is alongside the Galloping Goose ski-run, you never have to leave the house. The kids can come and go, meet at the house, have lunch, drinks, change out gear, warm up by the fire, or just take a break. If you have kids, and you actually want to enjoy your own vacation, this is the place. Mom and Dad, you deserve a vacation too; if you have to be the driver, ski valet, equipment hauler, shuttle person, communications director and counselor (yes, little kids can get grumpy with 25 lbs of gear). As a bonus, living ON the mountain allows you "fresh tracks" on your first run each morning, before the lifts even start turning. Be the envy of every powder hound - there is no better way to start your ski day! With the ski-mountain location at 10,001' elevation, you will be surrounded by pine and aspen trees, with total privacy and seclusion, as the home is located at the end of a 500-foot driveway, which is located at the end of a private road!
Hop on the free gondola for a 13 minute ride over the mountains and into the historic town of Telluride.
Free SUV service throughout Mountain Village for homeowners' and guests. No need to drive anywhere.
Shopping, fine dining, live music, outdoor ice skating, rock climbing, etc., all surrounded by world-class (6 star) resorts, with alpine-inspired (Bavarian Village) architecture.
Owner's Map of Mountain Village
Rich, Barbara and Jonah. We now live in Scottsdale, Arizona. We enjoy alpine skiing, snowboarding, hiking, mountain-biking, and exploring the Rocky Mountains. Our son Jonah (age 7) is an accomplished and nationally-ranked NASTAR skier.
If you call about this wonderful home, you will talk to me, Rich, on my cell phone (512) 320-8844, which I always answer, night or day. There is no need to talk to an agent, representative, broker, associate, helper, sales assistant, or whatever. We lived in this home for several years, so I am happy to share with you everything that I know about this home, the rental market, the best ski access on the mountain, whether to stay in Telluride or Mountain Village, transportation, directions, fine dining, best places for equipment, fly fishing secrets, heliskiing, the best fishing and rafting guides, etc. Even if you don't want to stay in this wonderful home, please feel free to call with questions, as my favorite thing to talk about is Telluride, which is the closest place to paradise on earth.

This house is absolutely amazing. It has everything you need! We took our family (3 kids) my sister and her two kids and grandma. I don't even know where to begin: The location is gorgeous- quiet, isolated. Saw tons of deer from the home, eating right in the backyard. Rooms- comfortable, all have their own bathroom, including a shower! Basement- extremely kid friendly, awesome bunk beds, pool table, toys Kids- If you have kids you don't have to bring anything! They have all the toys- DVDs, toys, books. We didn't take a single toy out of our car. Easy- A car comes and picks you up whenever you want to go somewhere. The Gondola is convenient and fun. We loved it!!!

Our immediate family (two daughters and husbands, along with ten grandchildren) had a very special week skiing in this beautiful setting. The home was perfect for our group of 16. It was so wonderful to get to all stay in the same home--we usually have to split into two groups. The owner and property manager were great and very responsive to anything we needed. Sorry I am just now posting my comments--just happened to get an email from VRBO and was checking out the sight and realized I had not let the owner know how much we loved the home! Thank you!
Owner response:Dean and Nawanda, we are so happy to hear that your family enjoyed a Christmas holiday in our wintery home. As always, we can arrange for the home to be fully decorated, as we have 25 large bins of high-end classic and antique Christmas decorations stored in one of the storage rooms. The home is full of Christmas cheer and you will have a Norman Rockwell family Christmas to remember always. We hope to see you again next holiday season! HOOK 'EM HORNS!

Family Reunion in Mountain Village

Our family, mostly Texans escaping the heat, had a fantastic early August reunion in this Mountain Village home. There were nine adults and six children in our group. The house felt very spacious and comfortable. There was room to spread out, but we never felt crowded when we were all in the same area. There are lots of hiking trails and 4 wheel drive roads near Telluride, so some of our days were quite strenuous. By late afternoon we were ready for a turn in the hot tub and dinner at home. The kitchen is well equipped; and there is plenty of seating for a large group. The deck across the back of the house, with the grill at one end and the hot tub at the other, is very pleasant in the evening. There are nice mountain views beyond the backyard and the adjacent ski run. We were not ready to leave when our week was over!
Owner response:Margaret and Hal, we are so happy that your family enjoyed the home and beat the Texas heat! We have found that many large families prefer to cook in the home most evenings. Although Mountain Village offers some of the finest dining in the Southwest, after a day of hiking, fly-fishing, etc., it is nice to enjoy a cool evening bbq on the deck! We hope to see you again next year! All best, Barbara : )

Our family of 13 stayed in this beautiful home and found it to be the best, most affordable property yet in Mountain Village for both children and adults. The kids stayed in the lower level bedrooms with easy access to TV, pool table, and games which allowed the adults some quiet time upstairs. The open kitchen/dining area is great for family to be together -- cooking, visiting, and even dancing while we cleaned up! The dining area opens out to the deck for yet another dining option with a view. The bedrooms are all away from the main living area for lots of privacy. I can't say enough nice things about this comfortable home, or about the owners; they were very nice, welcoming, and accommodating before and during our stay. We would definitely stay here again.

My group had a wonderful time..... the best place we have ever stayed at. We had a group of 5 families stay with children ranging from 7 to 16yrs. It was so great and I would recomend to whomever needed a very nice affordable place to stay. Thanks for making our trip even better than we thought it could be. We have been to S West Colorado over 15 times and this was our best stay. Thanks, Amy
Owner response:Amy, we are so happy that all five (5) families were so comfortable in the home. The floor plan with multiple levels truly affords privacy for everyone in a large group. Luxury Mountain Retreat

We vacationed to the Telluride area with another family and had a wonderful time staying in your beautiful home. The five children occupied the lower floor bunk rooms and had a wonderful time with the billiards table, extensive movie library, and simply having a large space of their own in which to play. We all enjoyed gathering in the large kitchen and living spaces on the main floor (indoors and out), and also had plenty of privacy with the bedroom layout. We did have an issue with keys to the house upon arrival, but the property manager was readily accessible and resolved everything expediently and with a very friendly manner. Communication with the property owner prior to arrival was prompt, courteous and more than helpful. I would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting a high-end, private mountain retreat. We thoroughly enjoyed being able to hike right out the back door and seeing all sorts of wildlife (deer all over the property, bears just up the hill from the yard!). We were there in the summer, but it would be wonderful in the winter to step out the back door & onto the slopes! We loved being away from town in a more secluded area, but yet close enough via the gondola or dial-a-ride to appreciate all the in-town activities, as well. Thank you for a great week away from it all!
Owner response:Elise, we were very happy to host your gracious family from Texas. We were also glad to hear that your family enjoyed all of the new Trek moutain bikes. The amazing new Mountain Village Mountain Bike park awaits your next visit; ride downhill ski runs all day and enjoy the beautiful gondola ride back to the top of the mountain. Hook 'em Horns! Barbara :)

We stayed at this beautiful property for a week in August. At one time there were 11 people there including adults, small children and college age kids. We all had plenty of room - the set up was perfect for having a great time with family and friends. We would most definitely return to this home. The owners were easy to contact and very helpful. I would definitely recommend this property to friends and family.
Owner response:Hi Paula! We are so glad that your family enjoyed our home in Telluride. A perfect cool get-a-way from the Oklahoma heat in August! We were glad to hear that you enjoyed the fly fishing! We keep at least 5 or 6 full sets of fly-fishing gear on hand for visitors, who are always happy not to have to hassle with purchasing all the gear while on vacation! We are looking forward to the Texas-OU game this year. Hope to see your family again next summer! Barbara : )

We had a group that included 6 kids (5 of them teenagers) and every one had a wonderful time! The property is fabulous. There was plenty of room for all of us and the home was immaculate. The views were stunning and there were plenty of activities to fill the week that we stayed there. I would especially recommend Daves Mountain Tours. We did the Black Bear Pass and Imogene Pass tours. Also be sure to experience the free gondola rides up and down the mountain. We had an absolutely great time and will definitely be back! Also, the property and whole Telluride town is very pet friendly!
