This lovely retreat is located in Northwest Lower Michigan. The home is in a pristine area in the middle of the woods, perched on a hill, overlooking the beautiful crystal clear waters of Green Lake! It is in a one of a kind location. You will not be exposed to the drone of jet ski's or power boats on this private lake.
Construction completed in February of 2008, professionally appointed and comfortable, it is one of 9 homes on nearly 300 acres that are bountiful with wildlife. You will routinely see Deer, Fox, Bald Eagles plucking fish from the lake, we were told a Bear was seen bathing near our dock.
You or the kids can enjoy fishing from the dock or one of the boats on shore, is fun and you would be surprised how the hours fly by, there are loads of Bass, Panfish and Rainbow Trout. So bring your poles and tackle box or if you don't fish...a good book to pass the time!
The boats are a paddle boat, row boat and kayak available for your enjoyment at the waters edge.
If you want 'big water' for water skiing or deep water fishing you are 10 minutes from Lake Bellaire, Torch Lake, Clam Lake or countless other small recreational lakes. You can put in your boat (if you brought it along) at numerous public access points or if you have flown in and want to rent a boat, there are multiple boat rental places in the area. We will provide information for you.
We have plenty of room at the house to park your boat, jet ski's, ATV's or snow machines.
It is a quick 3.5 hour drive from Metro Detroit to the door or 30 min from Cherry Capital Airport, Traverse City.
Fox Woods is private, safe and the perfect vacation spot if what you are truly seeking is rest, relaxation and the tranquility that only beautiful Northern Michgan can offer.

If you crave city night life, take your choice you can take a 30 min scenic ride to Traverse City or Petosky and enjoy casino gambling, live entertainment and fine dining or there is also LuLu's, a 5 star restaurant 10 minutes away in quaint Bellaire. Short's Brewery on Main Stree, the Bellaire Bar, is a beer & burger joint that is one of our favorites and that of the locals and finally Toonie's a family style restaurant that has a full bar, at affordable prices.
We can't forget to mention some cute little shops for shopping, a movie theater with the latest films and indoor miniature golf for the kids. If you want a grown ups night out...we can refer reliable babysitters in the area.
If you are up to cooking or grilling, you can find all the ingredients for meal preparation at Glen's Market in town (either Bellaire or Mancelona, we prefer the Bellaire store for selections) and test drive the gourmet kitchen!
Fox Woods is in located within a few minutes from The Chief and Shanty Creek to name a couple of the fine golf courses in the area and 25 minutes from Gaylord. (See our web site for more information)or the little Bellaire Public Golf course for a quick 9...

In winter...
You can enjoy your snow machines on the miles and miles of trails. Antrim County allows snow machines on the shoulder of the roads to enjoy the area or to get to trail heads. There is secure parking on the property for your machines.
Ski Northern Michigan at Shuss Moutain which is a stone's throw away. Boyne and Nub's Knob are a 30 minutes drive. Cross Country skiing or Snowshoeing are right outside the door!

Pat and I are a few years away from retirement...and this is the place we want to retire to. We built the home with that goal. This was a collaboration of ideas each of us had in our head of what our "Dream Home" was. After two years of planning and tweaking, we think we got it right. Visit...and let us know what you think!
Why the Owner Chose Mancelona
We actually found this lake by accident...it is remarkable that it is pristine and unspoiled. It is true wilderness located 10-15 min from anything we need in lovely Bellaire. You will probably not find a more peaceful spot...there are no jet ski's or motor boat droning on the lake as it is electric motors or hand carry craft only.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Total relaxation! Peace and quiet...and awe every time I look out the window to see Hummingbirds, Eagles or Deer...and it matters not what the weather is like.
