Location: Big Timber, Montana, USA (Half Way Between Billings and Bozeman Mt. 60 Miles)
Accommodations: Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths (Sleeps 2-5)
Description; TEN MILE CREEK CABIN.
Antique log cabin on Ten mile creek. Nothing to see but mountains, antelope, deer, eagles, hawks and horses. Nothing to hear but the creek that wraps around two sides of your newly restored log cabin.
The cabin sits on the creek in a fertile valley where the deer and antelope still roam. Looking south you will see the Beartooth Mountains. Soaring past 12,000 ft they contain the Beartooth Highway on which you can travel at over 10,000 ft. to Cooke City the North-East entrance to Yellowstone National Park.
Looking to the West you see the Crazy Mountains 11,000 ft or more. The top of Crazy peak is 10 miles from the cabin with the access road across the street. Giant waterfalls abound with alpine lakes and fantastic hiking! Looking East and North is Montana ranchland and that big sky!!!
ACTIVITIES… Fishing some of the greatest trout fishing in the world is to be had right near by. The world famous Yellowstone River is right down the road. Guides offering float trips are available. Excellent fishing can be had on the Boulder River’s cold clear water pouring out of the Beartooth wilderness. Wild cutthroat, rainbow, brown and brook trout can be had in the rivers and local streams. You can even practice on brookies in the creek behind the house.
HIKING at the other side of Big Timber is the Beartooth wilderness with hundreds of thousands of acres to explore. We are surrounded by national forest. Hunting….You can hunt for elk, antelope, deer[whitetail and mule], mountain sheep, goats, mountain lion, bear maybe even wolf. Many outfitters make Big Timber home.
RODEO… many rodeos take place here and in nearby towns in summer.
ENTERTAINMENT….we are located half way between Billings and Bozeman in the town of Big Timber. In town you can find fine dining, movies, antiques and art galleries. Take a drive West to Livingston and you can find restaurants, many galleries, shopping, all in a great little western town surrounded by mountains. Livingston is the Northern GATEWAY TO YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK. A drive though fantastic Paradise Valley takes you to historic Gardner Mountain, the entrance to Yellowstone.
Past Livingston through Bozeman Pass you reach Bozeman Montana. This college town is one of the last best small cities: theater, art, awesome food, hot springs and music. North you can ski in fantastic powder at un-crowded Bridger Bowl or, go South to Big Sky Resort Complex. Two ski areas and all the amenities and some of the best skiing there is.
HOME… spend your time sitting in the wonderful antique filled cabin looking out at the wildlife. Listen to the rippling creek, cook local beef on the patio. Take a walk out your door and see Montana ranch land and mountains as far as you can see.
Have a massage, manicure or your meals catered. Take a snooze in the hammock read a book. It’s just a great place to BE.
