  We loved the backyard of this property so much we rented it for the past 4 years. Unfortunately, we have agreed it will be our last.The home is lookingg more like a frat house than a family vacation home.The kitchen has no dishwasher and stove does not work. There are a few pieces of mismatched utensils. No sharp knives. Sparse pots and pans. Countertops are in need of replacement. Nothing has been updated or replaced in the past 4 years., including furniture. As you can tell by the calender the home is very used. The owner needs to step up and reinvest in some updating. A lot of usage without any upkeep. In the 4 years of renting this house we have unfortunately seen the dismise of this beautiful piece of property.It is rented by a rude property manager that does not live in the area.

  Owner response: FEBURARY 2013 $$$$ 48,000 IN UPGRADES TO THE HOME AND PROPERY, THIS IS AN OLD AND HARSH ASSESMENT. (unfair and un professional, I don't even know who this is) The reality is that the keys are a bit rustic and that's part of the charm. If they came 4 YEARS IN A ROW, they must have liked something? I agree the prior property manager was un pleasant and she has been replaced by me. The home still lacks a dish washer and disposal but much of the furniture, art work, Microwave, grill, couches, LED flat screen TVs and even a new roof and hot tub this month. I know its not perfect but it is a real slice of paradise. And the place is more amazing than ever!!!

  We especially loved being able to snorkel right out the back door. We saw a seahorse (the best!!), a starfish, some puffer fish, some blue crab, and a baby barracuda. The kids enjoyed the hot tub and secret loft that they used daily. The dog loved the big yard and explored the water for the very first time. The boat ramp being so close made it a stress free environment for my husband. We enjoyed our walks around the neighborhood and the way the trees sat on the property. You could experience the beautiful sunrise without being blinded. The glider on the water had a awesome cross breeze that we enjoyed every morning with coffee. Even in the hottest month of the year, it was comfortable. We visited lots of the locals: the bird sanctuary, the dive museum, and the theater of the sea. We dove the Christ Statue in John Pennecamp and snorkeled every day. We look forward to staying in touch with you for future visits to the keys.

  Simply amazing, beach was terrific, swimming great, house was spotless and spacious, no problem with A/C keeping house cool and we were here in summer, can find nothing else to compare, have already told our friends.

  Having a private beach and the outdoor space that this house offers was amazing! I watched sunrises, sunsets, dolphins, manatees, and tons of birds from the privacy of the backyard. I would recommend this home solely based on the large backyard and private beach and the home's location in Key Largo. Key Largo is 2 hrs to Key West, and hour to the Everglades, and minutes from swimming with dolphins and the Wild Bird Center. For all of the above I give it 5 stars. However, the inside of the home left a lot to be desired. I agree with the first reviewer that the inside of the home is in need of maintenance. It appears that the owner is getting a lot of money out of renting the property, but not putting any money into it to make their renters feel comfortable. The inside of the house could use a coat of paint. The air vents in the kitchen are rusty and dirty, there is no soapdish in the master shower, and no towel racks in the master bathroom. The hot/cold was backwards in the kitchen (be careful you don't scald yourself) and the kitchen sink was filthy with black scuff marks when we got there (we bought cleanser and scoured it ourselves). The pilot light was out in the oven and there was no lighter in the house to relight it. There was only one trash bag provided in the kitchen; we then just used our own plastic shopping bags. The A/C would come on and off on its own but for some reason the master bedroom was like an oven the entire week while the main part of the house was cool and comfortable. The ceiling fans ran 24\7 but could not cool down the master. The hot tub water level was low but we found a hose and filled it. The landscapers came toward the end of the week during the middle of the day when we were enjoying the beach and used the leaf blower for an hour (quite disturbing). Scheduling the landscaper for Saturday between guests would seem more appropriate. Four out of 5 beach chairs in the backyard were in disrepair and one had rusty nails. All of these things are not things I would complain about after arriving at the home, these are things I would expect would not be problems in the first place if you are considering the comfort (and hopeful return) of your guests. All that said, I want to reiterate that we had an amazing vacation and I would recommend this house based on the outside space and large backyard. Waking up to that view every morning was amazing!! Just be forewarned that the inside may not live up to your expectations.

  Owner response: The master bathroom is totally renovated and not common to install soap dishes, in fact in the last 30 years does anyone install soap dishes? There are no towel racks and none shown in picture, brand new bathroom and not necessary, no good spot to install and mpst people use shower door. The hot/cold water is reversed but everyone figures out and no one has been scalded, would have to let run a long time to do so before checking. If the air vents were dirty she should have called us when she arrived and someone would have been over right away. The gas to operate stove was just filled and pilot light had to be lit, she called at 9pm and said she did not have a match but was not using that night anyway. I told her if she needed us to send someone with match to let us know the next day and someone would be out. She never called but apparently had matches and lit it since she used thefirepit and it was on. There are two seperate A/C zones in this house and she never called to ask about it. Hot tub water loses level after splashing, evaporation, etc. This is common on any hot tub or pool. She was told landscaper comes once during week and we do not know when. This is how we know when someone breaks the rules by them showing up whenever. The beach chairs are in salt air, they rust but nails are not in an area that anyone would come into contact with. We never heard one word except about pilot light during her stay Everyone is told verbally plus written in rental form that we only provide initial supplies of toilet paper, dish soap, paper towels and trash bags. She had two trash bags in each receptacle, one is always underneath the other. Her review was exagerrated as anyone could determine by reading it. If she wants perfection she should stay in a 5 star hotel and even then if she doesn't ask or say something then how can something be explained or be solved by anyone hotel or private home.

  We had an awesome time at this house!! It fit our needs in everyday possible!! We are hoping to return next year!! My dogs were in heaven in the back yard and so were we!! The weather was to die for it was 80's all week! Thank you so much!! See you next year!!

  My family and I just returned from an amazing week at this awesome property in Key Largo. We are from Colorado and my sister and her husband from Tennessee also flew into Ft Lauderdale and we all came on down to this wonderful property!!! We stayed from Feb 4th til Feb 11th...and despite the rain...we still had an awesome time. The house itself was perfect ...we couldn't have asked for anything more. I'm not sure where the last people stayed...but I found nothing to complain about. The house is so close to so many things to do...within a mile there is the wild bird sanctuary which was a great place to spend a couple of hours...and then a stop right across the street at the Key Lime Tree!!! We had amazing food at Mrs Macs kitchen...and the staff there is a great bunch...we liked it so much we went twice!!! The outside of the house is beyond your wildest dreams!!! It was so awesome to see the wild dolphins several mornings and we also had a manatee the day before we left. I can't tell you how relaxing of a vacation it was...sitting in the hot tub at 6 am staring out at the ocean!!! We can't wait to go back again!!! My husband and son went fishing also...and caught their limit on yellowtail snapper...if your looking for a great fishing trip...check out Capt. Ryan of Two Starfish Sportfishing...he will definitely have repeat customers with us....as does this property!!! Thanks again for everything.

  My family and I enjoyed our stay here in Key Largo, weather was great. The house was clean and property was well maintained,back yard was even better in person. We kept our boat tied at dock. Place to launch your boat in is around the corner. Fun house and comfortable. We had a problem with electrical and trees but I called and problem was solved that day. NIce set up would stay here again. Alot of good restaurants near.

  Our family stayed at this house for a week over the holiday, 2011. We loved the outdoor space. It was exactly as it is pictured and was very well maintained. However, the house was not well maintained. It was dirty and needed maintenance. We have stayed in many homes in Florida over the years, but this was the first one we found disappointing.

  Owner response: We were surprised to find this complaint posted since we never received any contact from rentor during their stay regarding any problems and this is the first complaint we have receievd on this house. Perhaps we never heard from them since there were no issues and nothing needed to be addressed. We pride ourselves in looking after the needs of our rentors. We use a professional housecleaning service(best rated in Key largo whom only the real estate agencies use)and the house is left clean as a five star hotel. If anyone did have a problem we would respond immediately. No one prior or after has had any issues. In 4 years glad to know that this family was the only one to find the house disappointing so you know the house is not the problem rather the complainer. I gather she was looking to make some extra funds to cover her vacation expenses similar to the person who eats at a restaurant and then later complains the food was not good looking for a refund after eating everything.
