After walking through the entrance, you are immediately immersed in a beautiful, exotic environment and are captured by the magic of VT. It is all as described and more, not to mention the hospitality of the hosts, Denis and Sylvia, and the attention to detail of the staff. We loved the sense of family, also, with other guests. Our only regret was not staying longer, so we would recommend at least a month's stay! We got just a taste of paradise!

My family (wife and two daughters) and I just spent the best vacations ever. We went to Akumal and stayed at Villa Tortugas for a whole month. The Bed and Breakfast is right in the middle of everything. Close to Tulum and Playa del Carmen, and about two hours from Cancun. Also pretty close to Chichen Itza. This place really is a little paradise on the Mayan Riviera. It is beautiful, clean, tranquil, peaceful, quiet……some days we just stayed and enjoyed the pool and hospitality of Silvia and Denise. Definitely, it is a great place to stay. We would like to highly recommend this special place for your next vacations. You will not regret it! (Did I mention the great prices?.......) Mark

winter getaway

We stayed at Villa Tortugas for one week and truly enjoyed our visit. Since there are only six bungalows, we were able to meet and get to know the other guests.The location is convenient whether a person has a vehicle or relies on the bus. We liked that we could go to the beaches during the day and return to a secluded relaxing area in the evening. There are numerous sites and places to visit nearby or just go to the beach in Akumal. The beach in Akumal is very beautiful and relaxing. Silvia & Denis were very gracious hosts and very approachable regarding any questions or requests we had. The property is quite clean and well maintained. I would highly recommend this property.

Gem in Paradise

We enjoyed our stay at Villa Tortugas, This was the first time we had a vacation of this kind, we were surprised and very happy upon our arrival. VT is immaculate, a real gem. Silvia & Denis are the most generous hosts we have ever met. Its a great value, if you are looking for peace and quiet then this is the place.

A real Gem in Akumal area

Villa Tortugas is definitely a lot of value for the money. We normally stay on the beach and decided to try some place inland a bit. We were quite happy with our choice. Grounds are large, very pleasant, great pool, rooms exceptionally clean, everything new, air conditioning worked great, quiet, peaceful, and close to everything in the area. Plan to stay again in the future.

Most RELAXING vacation ever in this SWEET OASIS!

Our month at Villa Tortugas was wonderful, and after many years of travelling, the MOST relaxing holiday we've ever enjoyed. The entire atmosphere at the Villa is one of calm, ;peace and tranquility. The landscaping has been tended with loving care by Denis and Jose and reflects the attention to detail that both Denis and Silvia have accomplished in developing this property. The location is away from the bustling crowds and when you walk through the front gates at the end of a busy day sight-seeing or snorkelling, in our case, you feel embraced by the Villa and are relieved to find the pool and comfortable chaises waiting quietly for you. Many cups of tea and/or mango juice on ice were enjoyed whilst relaxing poolside, watching the exotic birds come and go and enjoyiing the constant breeze that wafts through the young palm trees. The casitas have all the comforts of home without the annoyances...no tv, no phone, no computer...we loved it. Our escape was made perfect by the fact that there were no technological intrusions into our lives for that month. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom quite elegant, yet functional...we loved the vessel sink and the open concept shower stall. The shampoo, soap and conditioner provided were very spa-inspired and the scents clean and natural. The kitchen was perfect for the simple vegetarian fare we prepared everyday...so well-appointed that we only ate out at a restaurant on two occasions during the entire month. Local vegetables and fruits are easy to come by and fun to experiment with. The two-burner gas stovetop was more than adequate and the coffee maker, toaster and fridge were very useful and used daily. We took a small electric kettle with us because we are tea-drinkers and our favourite vegetable peeler...a paring knife would be on my list for next visit, just for the convenience factor. The porch at the front of each casita is amazing...spacious, airy and private...complete with a small patio table, and two lounge chairs. The citronella candle is provided so that evenings can be enjoyed outside, listening to frogs and night insects, watching the geckoes on the exterior walls. Evenings here are marvellous for reading, enjoying conversation with fellow-travellers, or just quiet reflection. As longish-term guests, we enjoyed clean towels and bed linen every second day, as provided by Silvia and Antonia...the casita always looked so inviting when Antonia had worked her magic. In a word...BLISS!
