Perfect Cabin Retreat!

Date of Stay: 11/18/11 Review Submitted: 01/18/12

We had the BEST time during our stay at this cabin! It is so beautifully filled with rustic furniture & decor that you feel cozy as soon as you walk in the front door. Had everything we needed inside! This was our 1st trip to Boone & we're already planning to go back so we can stay here again! Thanks so much to the Warners for such a great weekend getaway!! Looking forward to our next trip! : )

Such a Clean and Comfortable Place

Date of Stay: 08/06/11 Review Submitted: 01/14/12

We stayed at this clean and cute cabin the summer of 2011 and we are excited to be planning another trip in 2012! You are going to love the fun things to do nearby! We appreciated knowing we had a comfortable relaxing cabin to come home to after a day of sightseeing, Tweetsie Railroad train riding, hiking, shopping and waterfall hunting.

Nice little get-a-way cabin

My husband and I, along with out dog "Scotia" enjoyed a relaxing weekend at the Warner's beautifully appointed cabin. The wide planks, wood beams and rustic charm reminded us of the type of cabins back home in the Canadian Rockies, which made us feel very comfortable. Minutes to Blowing Rock and Food Lion, a local grocer, we had all we needed for a chill kind of weekend. Perhaps we can muster up some time to return in the fall with our son. Thanks John!

Great Place to Stay--Very comfortable!

This cottage is in a very private location. It is well furnished--comfortable beds, plenty of linens and kitchenware, a beautiful stone fireplace. Just what you want when staying out in the mountains. We were also pleased to find several games for quality family time. The heating system worked very well. I highly recommend this cottage. One of the best we've had through VRBO.

Prepare for some R&R and Blue Ridge Mtns

We just returned from this wonderful property. It is centrally located between Boone and Blowing Rock and each time you drive, you will definitely see something different on your route to either city. Our original date of rental was in February but got snowed out (luckily we got snow here, in SC - a freak snow storm). We rescheduled our trip in April and yet again had to reschedule for the end of June. Mr. Warner was very understanding and willing to work with us. The property is nestled in a 'neighborhood' but very private location. The weather was great and we had the windows open the entire time! We were able to bring our two dogs, which we really appreciated! Blowing Rock is dog friendly and some of the business owners had water outside their doors for them. There is a fire place but we of course didn't need it. Everything, including the door hinges on the doors and the door handles to the rooms just added a 'highlands' feel to the property. The property was very comfortable for us and we could definitely relax. Mr. Warner kept in touch with us prior to us arriving. He even tried to get us the TV channel when the Univ of South Carolina was in the College World Series. Just know that you will definitely get a visit from Sampson, a white Boxer. If i hadn't read a previous poster's review, he would have definitely scared me. He is friendly. He even makes little bubbles when he drools! Hysterical! So, consider taking some dog treats... There are so many great eating establishments in Blowing Rock. The Speckled Trout, Blowing Rock Grille, Glidewells, and Pssghetti's (we've gone there two years in a row). If you happen to go to the original Mast General Store in Valle Crucis, you must stop at the Ham Shoppe as you make the RT turn towards Valle Crucis. They have awesome deli sandwiches. We didn't spend too much time in Boone other than to go to "The Stick Boy Bakery" - awesome breakfast foods! The Blue Ridge Parkway has a lot to offer, as does Grandfather mtn, Linville Caverns, etc. There are so many outdoor things to do you cannot become bored!! I hope my review was helpful and you consider renting this property. We hope to definitely return next year.

Charming & perfect for us

Guest: BeachBums (Wilmington, NC)
Date of Stay: 06/20/10 Review Submitted: 06/24/10

We just returned from the most relaxing and wonderful trip to the mountains. This cabin is much larger than the pics show and the reviews about it's cleanliness are so very true! What you don't see on this site, are two very nice size bedrooms with very comfy queen beds, wonderful linens, ample closet space, and room enough for the little ones to play (we have 4 & 7 yr old boys). Full bathroom & toilet upstairs, and toilet/laundry downstairs. We grilled out most nights and enjoyed our time on the deck. We did end up here during a "warm spell" but were very comfortable with the fans in the windows at night - we were even cold a couple of nights/mornings! The ride in/out is very nice and yes, curvy (near Yonohlossee) but only a short 5-8 min ride to Blowing Rock. The BR Parkway is very close and makes traveling to many popular hiking/tourist areas very easy. I would definately recommend staying here and hope to do so on our future trips to the area! Thanks Warners, for a wonderful stay in your cabin!

Cozy, Secluded Retreat

Guest: RLTOBX (Outer Banks, NC)
Date of Stay: 03/21/10 Review Submitted: 03/30/10

This warm, cozy (and clean) cabin was a welcome retreat from the real world. We arrived late in the day in March and thankfully the heater was on-the cabin was always warm and we found ourselves turning the heater down or off when we used the fireplace. All the linens were in great shape. Many small, but important incidentals were included-a small stack of wood and matches for the fireplace, laundry soap, bath soap, toilet paper-everything that you don't want to have to worry about after a long trip. The cabin's owner was really responsive and easy to work with. We can't wait to go back.

Perfect Weekend Away!

This cabin is comfortable, adorable, and affordable! The clean, homey feel, equipped with everything you could need (particularly kitchenware - very helpful!) and close to wonderful Blowing Rock was the best choice we could have made for a weekend away. Perfect for a couple's retreat! Definitely want to return here! Had a wonderful time staying here, cooking our own meals, and touring up and down the Blue Ridge Parkway!

very comfortable

Guest: K-ville (Kernersville, NC)
Date of Stay: 07/04/09 Review Submitted: 07/10/09

The hardwoods are absolutely gleaming and the cabin was very comfortable and immaculate. The owner took care of business in a timely and friendly manner. Our young son loved playing make-believe in the interesting closet in the 2nd bedroom upstairs. Tweetsie was a great day trip, but if you go into Blowing Rock with youngsters, keep in mind that most stores and restaurants do not allow strollers. :( On the flip side, BR does have a great park right on the main drag. We would return to this cabin without a second thought.

My family really enjoyed our stay at your lovely cabin. It is a little treasure tucked in the woods. Your home is immaculately clean, cozy and was a welcome retreat after a day at Tweetsie with the kids.

Quiet, clean, comfortable, convenient

Guest: Appalachian Mountain Lover (Madison, Indiana)
Date of Stay: 06/04/09 Review Submitted: 06/16/09

We've stayed in quite a few cabins over the past four years and this is one of our favorites. Yes, it's a bit of a drive over curvy roads to get there but when you do the surroundings are wonderfully quiet. The cabin was as clean as other reviewers mentioned. It was also quite comfortable and not 'over-decorated'--the decor was attractive and appropriate, not cluttered. We opened the windows in both upstairs bedrooms and enjoyed the cool night air while we slept like (good!) babies. We felt it was a great value for the price; we definitely look forward to staying here again.

AWESOME CABIN

Guest: ThatFloridaGuy (Marathon, Florida)
Date of Stay: 01/29/09 Review Submitted: 02/05/09

Awesome mountain cabin, Unbelievably outstandingly clean. Nice solid cabin and flooring that does not creek when walked across. Very nice fireplace and heater to keep the cabin cozy in the winter. Nice and secluded, very relaxing area where your not surrounded by other renters. Be sure to bring a box of dog treats for "SAMPSON," the very friendly and well trained boxer dog who will stop by several times a day to say hi. Snow chains or 4 wheel drive was suggested by another reviewer. I will second that suggestion as an inch of snow made driving my 2 wheel drive SUV up the neighborhood road exciting. Would suggest GPS if you do not know the area. Can't wait to rent again.

A Great Mountain Retreat

Guest: quacker (Oak Island, N.C.)
Date of Stay: 10/21/08 Review Submitted: 10/29/08

This cabin looks as thogh it was recently upgraded with new hardwood floors, new paint, new furnishings. It's very well decorated with a mountain theme. One of the chairs is a true work of art. It has everything you need and lacks for nothing. It was immaculately clean throughout.Overall the cottage and the fireplace carry the feel of the mountains. For flatlanders, the driveway in was very exciting the first time in. If you want to go hiking on mountain trails, it is an excellent home base. The area is very scenic and Blowing Rock is quaint, nice architecture, and lots of shops. This cabin is secluded, but the area has other secluded private homes in a much higher price range. It was very enjoyable staying there, just what we were looking for.

My wife and I recently rented this cabin and absolutely loved it. It is a very private location and the cabin is in excellent condition. It was very clean and has brand new looking hardwood floors. It only took about 15 Minutes to get into downtown Blowing Rock and 10 minutes to Boone. We will definitely be back again.

We loved our weekend here. Only problem was not being able to figure out how to watch a movie on the fancy satellite tv. Reading and relaxing turned out to be just as great.

Peaceful

Guest: Mountain Fanatic (Florida)
Date of Stay: 12/01/07 Review Submitted: 01/08/08

Very cozy. Lots of quiet and peace yet 5 minutes to downtown Blowing Rock. The only thing we needed was a second TV upstairs. Four-wheel drive or chains were needed during heavy snow. We'll be back.
