Located just south of Lady Bird/Town Lake in hip Barton Heights, Barton Bungalow is within easy walking distance of some of Austin’s best attractions: Barton Springs Pool and Zilker Park (site of the Austin City Limits Music Festival and the Trail of Lights), the Long Performing Arts and Palmer Event Centers, the hike-and-bike trail and Lady Bird/Town Lake, Restaurant Row, and Austin’s newest emerging shopping district, SoLa (South Lamar). You’re also just minutes by car, bike, bus, or cab from the center of downtown and the 6th Street, Warehouse (4th Street) and 2nd Street entertainment districts, the Texas State Capitol, and the University of Texas.

Why the Owner Chose Austin
I didn't originally purchase this property as a vacation rental -- it was my home for 6 years. When I moved to a slightly larger home about 6 years ago, I kept this house because I was still so attached to it. I just furnished and converted the property to a vacation rental this year (2009). I love the location so much that I still live in the same neighborhood.

The house is in a fantastic central location, close to everything that made me fall in love with Austin: Barton Springs, the hike-and-bike trail, downtown, and the quirky shops and restaurants of South Austin.

Although I'm not originally from Austin, I've made it my home for about 20 years. Like so many others, I came for school at the University of Texas and fell in love with the city's natural beauty, great cultural offerings, and relaxed attitude. I've traveled and lived all over the world, but there's no place like Austin! (The picture is my partner and I at the Pont du Gard in France.)
