Location: North Star offers a perfect beach vacation. Drake's Beach is a big, beautiful beach with many sandy areas and good fishing holes, home to herons and osprey. Generally used only by those in this tiny neighborhood, this beach is tranquil and uncrowded. Please note that along this stretch, the homes have no river views because shrubs and trees protect the privacy of the homes from the beach. This home is five minutes from downtown Guerneville's nightlife, shopping, and dining.
House: Light, airy, and finely furnished, North Star (~2000sf) is a newly-constructed contemporary home with a great floorplan. The well-equipped kitchen has a large dining set for eight immediately adjacent, and is open to the living room. The living room features hardwood floors, stunning open-beam ceiling, a wood stove, 42" plasma television, and leather seating. Sliding doors open to a lower deck. With three bedrooms and two and a half baths, North Star can sleep 10 without anyone relegated to the living room. The two bedrooms on the main living level have two queen beds in one room, and one queen bed in the other. The upper level bedroom has two queen beds, a 27" TV, and sliders opening to its own deck. Both full baths have tub/shower combinations, and there is also a half bath. If staying in touch is part of your vacation plan, this home has wireless high-speed cable Internet access.
Grounds: North Star features two decks with fantastic views of the surrounding woods and the forested mountains beyond the river. The lower deck is off the main living space and has a large hot tub, dining set and gas grill. The upper deck opens from the upstairs bedroom and has comfortable seating. The two decks are connected by a staircase. From the backyard there is a path down to the beach. With the double kayak provided, you can paddle to downtown Guerneville--or up and down the river as far as you like.
