We spent a wonderful week at this amazing suite. Where can you have a vista that changes constantly? We were cozy, comfy and warm. This suite is perfect for a romantic getaway or just to recharge your batteries! We walked twice a day and saw something different everyday in the rock pools, on the rocks and even the birds soaring above the waves. This suite was perfect for us on the edge of Pacific Grove, a friendly town with all the amenities you need. The restaurants were varied and the staff truly friendly and helpful. We were close to Cannery Row and Monterey. I would recommend a day at he Aquarium and tour the shops and restaurants at Cannery Row. Also a must would be Whale Watching too! The highlight of our stay was the drive to Big Sur, be sure to stop at the Nepenthe Restaurant to refuel along the way. Every time you stop by the roadside you may just see a whale spout, it's truly fascinating with rolling mountains and fields down to the ocean covered by fog and suddenly you see horses or cows grazing. This was our first trip to California but it won't be our last! What a magical landscape!

The view, location, ammenities--all perfect! I love the size of the suite, the quality of the appointments, the art on the walls, the fireplace. I watched whales spout & jump & slap their tails on the water all from the chair in the living room. It was amazing! We went for sunset walks every night. I drank coffee every morning in the swinging chair in the garden area. There have been times when we've gone to "see the sights", and other times, just to "veg" out. It's the perfect location for sightseeing in Monterey, Carmel, Big Sur. The owners are nearby and quick to supply any extra necessities, answer questions or provide suggestions for places to go; yet they value our privacy as much as we do. We've stayed here 4 times now & see no reason to look elsewhere when coming to this part of California. Be sure to check out Nepenthe in Big Sur. Great place for food, shopping and scenery.

My wife and I traveled to Pacific Grove for a long weekend. I found this rental through VRBO, and was very pleased with the outcome. The roaring ocean is across the street with an infinite walking trail. We thoroughly enjoyed walking both in the early mornings, and to enjoy the beautiful sunsets. The residence provides all the comforts of home, plus access to restaurants, shopping, hiking, etc within 5-10 minutes. The fireplace and lighting provide romance if desired. We dined at local restaurants every evening, traveled down the "17 Mile Drive" (within 2 miles of the residence), and journeyed to Pebble Beach, Carmel, and Point Lobos Reserve. You will not be disappointed with the views, scenery, and intimacy. Our hosts very accommodating, beginning with a bottle of champagne to start off our weekend, and were available if needed. I highly recommend you consider this site for your trip to Monterey, Carmel, or Pacific Grove. Mike and Dawn

My husband and I were very impressed with the cool vibe and actual ART in this beautiful ocean front suite. The view is incredible! The location is fantastic and easy to navigate around town. We found the local Trader Joes very close by and bought fruit and cheeses to nosh on. The pictures of the suite absolutely do not do it justice. I would definitely stay here again the next time we visit!

My husband and I were looking for a place near the coast to celebrate a belated honeymoon. Everything about this place exceeded our expectations. The view is absolutely intoxicating and we found ourselves sipping wine, listening to music and staring endlessly at the amazing show that the incoming waves provided right from the huge picture window in the living room. Pacific Grove is a great location and we had big plans to do lots of day trips to Monterey, Carmel, etc, and that did happen and we loved all that we saw and did, but to be honest, the best part of our vacation was just enjoying our strolls along the beach and chilling out at this great little pad. It is absolutely spotless and the hosts were are so accomodating. The only negative is that our stay was far too short. Can't wait to come back!

After I dug myself out of my post-vacation depression, I am now able to review this fabulous place. Life will never be the same. We miss hearing the waves throughout the night crashing on the rocky shoreline. We miss the fireplace just lighting up in the middle of the night when it got chilly. Miss the hiking, the exploring, the sites!!!! Most of the time we could not peel ourselves away from the window. Our expectations were to go to dinner every night somewhere different and explore the town. One night we ordered pizza (delivered) just so we could enjoy the beautiful sunset. Bill was very accommodating. We even got a beautiful basket celebrating our anniversary with ingredients to make my favorite cocktail from the owners. We enjoyed the backyard with a deer stopping to look at us before she made her way through the yard. We went on a 6 hour hike stopping at the Spanish Bay to have lunch. I absolutely would recommend this place as it went beyond our expectations. Clean, well-designed, and the most spectacular view. Thank you for sharing this property with us!! (Must have that asian rock sculpture in your yard and now I understand about Kneel). Thank you!!!!

I cannot emphasis enough how the pictures just do not fully describe this "suite" and the exterior certainly is not an example of what awaits you! If I were to review this property on the view alone, that would be all it needed to be rated excellent but the owners have gone to great lengths to be sure that the suite is filled with all you need to have a comfortable stay. We were lucky enough to have one evening (during a foggy August stay) with a sunny afternoon that lead to an amazing sunset! We come to the Monterey Peninsula at least once yearly; on longer stays we rent a house but for shorter stays we would definitely rent this PG Suite.
Owner response:Richard and Cindy- We're so glad you were comfy, and that you noticed our consideration of individual guest's privacy and our attempt to blend in to the amazing California Coastal terrain, where the Blue Pacific is the star! Oops- sorry the sun was mostly stubborn- luckily we did arrange for one of those gorgeous silver/gold sunsets to pour into the Suite's picture windows! : ) Next time, I'm sure it will be different- the infinite array of colors is always breathtaking! Do return any time!

The photos and descriptions say it all! This suite is the perfect quiet get-away! We were in town for a wedding, and found the suite was only 2 1/2 miles from the reception. It was very convenient to Carmel, Pacific Grove and Monterrey. For runners, walkers or cyclists, the area has a wealth of safe, traffic-protected trails. The walk into Pacific Grove is beautiful! The amenities provided to guests show careful consideration to comfort and peace. A very lovely, comfy bed, quilts, warmed towels, and a professionally designed/decorated suite make this one perfect, classy gem! And, that we had chilled champagne and assorted fruits awaiting our arrival was such a welcoming gesture!

What a place to stumble on going through all those VRBO listings! First, most important to me- VERY CLEAN, and simple, beautiful design. Comfy, luxurious bed, although next time I'll bring my own tiny squishy pillow- theirs are a bit plump for me. With the openness of the rooms, we were able to see the ocean from our "breakfast in bed", and oh, those shiny Ocean nights couldn't be beat! I really only fully understood their ad and pictures when we arrived and saw the wild ocean through the front "glass wall" windows. You can see the ocean from every room! We both had to work while we were there, so we set up separate workstations- since I work late at night, I used the little bar in the kitchen/dining room, and Marco set up in the living room so he wouldn't disturb me while I was hanging out in the soaking/jetted tub, tra la!!… so relaxing…. Eco. in size, but they told us it has that special airflow system, so no worries about any "ickies". We spent a day at the wonderful Aquarium, picnicked on the beach in front of the house, and found incredible Point Lobos for another picnic. Didn't find time for golf, but next time…. I could go on, but boy, this is a super place- got to stay longer next time!

It would be difficult to find a better beach-side rental property in Northern California than this romantic hideaway, which is literally just a few steps from Asilomar State Beach. My wife & I had a wonderful experience here, and found the price extremely competitive to the local beach-view hotels. The queen sized bed was comfortable, the fireplace was romantic, and the view was spectacular through the large window overlooking the beach. We enjoyed a gorgeous Pacific sunset every night of our stay. We watched passing whales & dolphins and were greeted by a sea lion on a beach-side stroll our first day there! We were also visited by 3 deer at our window one morning. The unit even has a telescope for zooming in on the occasional passing whale or dolphin - or, if you're lucky, even a sea otter. It was wonderful! The rental offers two TV's, a jacuzzi tub & shower, and a full kitchen with a coffee maker, as well as a dishwasher. There's also wireless internet available if you bring your laptop. The rental was conveniently located to Cannery Row, Pacific Grove restaurants & shops, the beautiful 17 Mile Drive, and it's a very short ride to Carmel, too. There's a Safeway market nearby (with a Starbucks!) as well as a Trader Joe's if you want to stock-up the refrigerator or get a bottle of wine for your stay. Everything that we wanted to see in Monterey & the surrounding area was convenient & near to the property, which was a big plus for us as new tourists to the area. Note that the rental is one, large room. The bedroom is separated from the front room by a simple curtain. There are no private rooms except for the bathroom itself, so the rental is best suited for one couple's private getaway. Also, the jacuzzi tub is rather deep, and it takes a big step to get in & out of it, and there is no handrail to hold onto; because of this I would hesitate recommending the unit to an older couple who may have difficulty stepping in & out of the tub. I am in my late forties and nearly lost my footing a couple of times while stepping into the shower. An added handrail and an anti-slip mat in the tub would be a perfect addition. That being said, my wife & I would definitely stay here again if we have the opportunity. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and enthusiastically recommend this place to other couples looking for a romantic, seaside getaway! We'll definitely be telling our friends about it, and we're sure that you'll love it, too.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Master Suite for only two days and we wished it could have been longer. The outside of the home is very under stated in comparison to when you walk inside. The home is very beautifully decorated and extremely neat and clean. Mark described it as being very cozy. The pictures truly aren't sufficient in capturing the essence of this house. The location is perfect. The view takes your breath away. Mark and I experienced the most beautiful sunset as we drank wine and sat in front of the house. The hosts made the process of booking the accommodations very simple. They had sparkling wine and some fruit for us upon our arrival. If you are considering staying at this home, Do it! You truly won't be disappointed. We are definitely going back!

My husband and I were truly delighted to spend 4 days and nights in this beautiful master suite right on the coast in unspoiled Pacific Grove. Everything was perfect, from the cold bottle of cava Bill had waiting for us upon arrival, to the spectacular sunsets we saw during our strolls along the Asilomar State Beach boardwalk. The apartment is simultaneously luxurious and homey, a very welcome change from sterile hotel rooms. It was THE perfect base from which to explore the wonders of California's central coast. We can't wait to return.

The house is in a perfect location on the beach. I had told Karen before I came that I was planning on proposing to my girlfriend there. She made up a beach basket with champagne and the works. Right across the way is basically a private little beach area. We watched a sea lion play near by, watched the sunset, and I proposed. Everything worked out great......we just wish we would have had more time around the area! I highly recommend this place to anyone.

Before we booked this Master Suite, I said to my wife "It depends what you want. I prefer not to talk to a bunch of strangers before I have my morning coffee, and I don't really like fussy bed and breakfasts." Then my wife didn't want to settle for not actual whitewater oceanfront, and is very particular about wanting beautiful and meticulous. We both wanted fine restaurants. This place fulfilled exactly what we both needed for our getaway. Now we think of this place as ours, but we did want to tell the hosts thanks so much for everything, and all the little extra attention to detail. We did LOVE this place! I don't want anybody contacting me about this posting, but this place was actually as advertised, and our host was right... forget everything, and have some champagne by the ocean. We were very tense when we got there, but after a day of gentle, quiet exploring, we were laughing again finally! Of course, the perfect weather helped a lot, and they say these next two months are the best- warm days and cool nights. First evening we walked to a perfect little restaurant, and then as we got our 'sea legs', we took a boat whale watching, and there were even shark sightings. We biked and hiked, and feel restored. We have to recommend this one!

This was just the escape we needed! Sweet was just what the Suite was- 180 degree close whitewater views, couldn't be better. We had tried to get into one of the new hotels, and also Pebble beach, that were 4 times the price, and as luck would have it, we landed at this great place. We're so glad we weren't in the cities of Carmel or Monterey - it was right between, and away from al the busyness. Having our own parking pad was also a nice little plus. The walk along the ocean there was terrific, and we did take a haphazard picnic the hosts help us put together... we hadn't planned ahead much, and they even helped with new slippers to borrow and sunhats for when the fog turned to glorious sun! Comfy, large bedroom and living room... bubbles in the bath, all we could ask for in the kitchen, and truth is, we wanted to try all the fab surrounding restaurants, which we did. But there's still plenty for next time, and we plan to make our escape there whenever we can. Thanks, Alex, Bill, Karen, and Kneel!

We stayed at this amazing place... we'd been concerned it might not be as advertised, but it was way better. They need to do more and better pictures on that website. We were so lucky to get the dates we needed. We also were concerned it wouldn't be private, but we never even laid eyes on anyone else the whole time, and the hosts were just a phone call away when we couldn't find the iron. The Suite was large and finely done, it turns out the owners are designers, and it shows. We didn't want to leave, and tried to figure out a way to stay, but they were booked. I travel for business a lot, and this is what we needed. It rivals any top-notch vacation I've ever had. They say only light use of the kitchen, but it was outfitted with anything I needed, and I sure didn't want to do a bunch of cooking with all those great restaurants near. Kudos to the owners!

without sounding too much like a breathless travel brochure, this was a real find. an oceanside retreat to remember and return to. there is nothing like falling asleep to the sound of the surf and waking to a pacific dream. the air and light is amazing and our modern, clean and comfy suite was wonderfully appointed. our only wish was for more days to spend on the pacific shore relaxing and enjoying the views. and while feeling nicely secluded, excellent restaurants and shopping were nearby; cannery row, pebble beach and other attractions a short drive. alex and bill, the owners, were very helpful and we can't thank them enough. we look forward to our next stay.

We just returned home to San Francisco after a memorable stay at this Pacific Grove beach house. The luxury cottage is positioned as close to the breaking waves as is safe. It's so hard to pull yourself away from the view that we had dinner delivered one night so we could watch the sea, the deer, the spectacle of sea birds and the sunset. The unassuming building exterior contrasts with the elegance of the cottage's appointments: comfortable bed with high quality linens, Jacuzzi tub, beautiful fireplace, wide screen television, stylish efficiency kitchen and little extras like free Wi-Fi and private parking. It's a 5 minute drive to Monterey and about 12 minutes to Carmel. An entrance to the shoreline's pedestrian walkway is across from the property and we took both evening and early morning walks while we were there. The small kitchen has a refrigerator containing basics for a continental breakfast. The owners were very welcoming and helpful during our stay and we can't wait to return. Our only criticism was the lack of a reading light in the living room, but they plan to get one. Karen and David Crommie San Francisco

This place is a find. It's so close to the ocean you can see and hear the whitewater from the whole place! The suite is beautifully designed, and is actually very special, like staying in an art gallery. The path along the ocean is right in front- we walked, we biked, picnicked on the beach, etc. We'd forgotten to bring some stuff, and the location was nearby everything. The accomodating hosts were there when we needed, but unobtrusive, helping us with restaurant recommendations and directions. The ad doesn't do the place justice- Thanks, Alex and Bill for the best vacation we've ever had! Rolanda and Johann
