We spent the week of Thanksgiving at " Chestnut Oak Lodge" The home is beautiful, relaxing, we are very thankful to have made such wonderful memories there. I would recommend a stay there to anyone! We hope to return sometime.

We had the most wonderful stay here. The cabin is spotless, and stocked with everything you need plus more. There are toys, games, books, rockers in the secondary bedrooms. There are dishes, coking utensils (the good stuff!), a Kitchen-aid mixer, nice grill, tons of seating inside and out. We would love to stay here again BUT, although they advertise DirectTV, there is no ESPN and very few channels. If my husband new he wouldn't be able to watch college football on opening day, it might have been a deal breaker!

Owner response:We are so happy you enjoyed your stay! While we do in fact have DirecTV, it's the family package which doesn't include all the sports channels. However, in a matter of minutes we can add it during your stay. Please call us next time and we can remedy the TV channel lineup. Hope to see you back :)

I would say on a scale of 1-10 I give Chestnut Oak Lodge an 11! The beauty and appointments of this cabin are 5 stars. The booking process was a breeze and the owner walked me through the process if I had any questions. The Kitchen was perfect for anyone, but stellar for a rental.

We really appreciated being able to bring our dog. We enjoyed swimming and paddle boating in Lake Laura. The zipline was terrific and totally worth it. We highly recommend it. My 12-year-old son asked if we could come back next year and bring one of his friends! We visited Skyline Drive on the way back to Northern Virginia, which was a nice way to top off a very enjoyable weekend.

The kitchen was better stocked than my own kitchen at home. I expected to find a few plates and utensils but instead to my surprise there were cookie sheets, mixing bowls, an electric skillet, a toaster oven, and the list goes on and on. It was a pleasure preparing meals in the spacious and well equipped kitchen. Being able to "eat in" at Chestnut Oak Lodge saved us a lot of time and money, allowing us the opportunity and funds we needed to be able to zip-line at Bryce and tube down the Shenandoah River. Thanks for a wonderful vacation and a ton of delightful new memories with my family.

The Chestnut Oak Lodge is superb for a quiet weekend getaway. The log cabin is fully equipped with all the modern conveniences, yet we still felt that we were in a wooded sanctuary, far from the madding crowd. I felt like Thoreau at Walden Pond, but with WiFi access and a cup of hot coffee. We loved walking around Lake Laura and the surrounding towns with our dog. The Bryce facilities are nearby and look like a great place for kids and adults to enjoy outdoor sports. I also appreciated that the booking process was professional and secure for transactions.

We really enjoyed our weekend stay in the Chestnut Oak Lodge. The house was impeccable, still with that delicious smell of wood. It was really ample and comfortable. The wrap-around deck was amazing, giving different places to sit and admire the beautiful Autumn foliage that surrounds the house. We loved going down to the lake, admiring the nature and the beautiful stars. Thanks for letting us celebrate a wonderful 40th birthday for my husband. We will certainly love to come back soon.
