Accommodations:  House, 5 Bedrooms + Attached Unit, 5.5 Baths (Sleeps 12)

Keywords:  House

The house is a restored traditional French farmhouse (Mas) dating from the 17th century. It is set around a courtyard with a southerly aspect and well protected from the Mistral wind. The gardens were designed and laid out by two renowned French garden designers, Nicole de Vesian and Alain Idoux appearing in books on Provencal gardens. A major refurbishment of the kitchen and living room was undertaken in 2004/2005 and all the bathrooms were refurbished in 2008.

The house is located within walking distance of the charming Luberon village of Goult but has no other properties overlooking it. The pool has views out over the Petite Luberon. It has good shade provided by pins parasol, but the pool itself is exposed to the sun for the whole of the day. It is also heated by a heat pump so that it is usable from April through to October.

Goult is located within between 60-90 minutes from many of the great sites of Provence. Amongst these are the Pont du Gard, the arena at Arles, Nimes and Orange, the Palais du Pape in Avignon, the great vineyards of Chateauneuf du Pape, the fountains of Aix en Provence and the bustling port of Marseille and its beautiful coastline.

As well as great historic sites there are numerous bustling markets close by, such as Isle sur la Sorgue (antiques), Coustellet for wonderful fresh farm produce, and Apt and Lourmarin for nearly everything! All the seasons have their charm, Spring for the blossoms on the fruit trees, fresh asparagus, wonderful Sisteron lamb and early Carpentras strawberries. The summer has delicious melons, cherries, apricots, heritage tomatoes and other vegetables as well as sunflowers and lavender. The autumn has the beautiful colors of the changes in the vineyards, delicious dishes using wild mushrooms and pumpkins and the game caught by the hunters. Even winter has its charm with roaring log fires and simple dishes with locally sourced truffles. All the seasons have wonderful light for those who want to paint or take photographs.

Fantastic Property

I have rented this gorgeous property multiple times over the past four years. The home has been beautifully remodeled and is in great condition. The first thing that attracted me to the home was the kitchen - it is truly a chef's dream. It is also important for me to rent a property that has a bathroom with each bedroom. This property has that, plus a half bathroom downstairs for general use. The living room is luxuriously furnished with several sitting areas that have comfortable, overstuffed sofas and chairs. The focal point of the room is a large, working fireplace. It makes the house quite cozy when the weather turns cooler. Having two indoor dining areas (one adjacent to the kitchen and one a formal dining room) and several outdoor dining spots makes mealtimes fun and adventurous - not the same old routine. One of the outdoor dining areas has a wisteria vine that grows over the top. Another has a fabulous view of the sunset. One of the things that I really like about the property is that there is a full laundry facility just off the living area. Another thing that is such a plus for me is that the property has fruit trees - the figs and apples are bountiful in season, as well as trellised grapes, olive trees and herbs. The heated pool is really a plus, especially when the weather starts to get a little cooler. The property is in a great location and is within walking distance of a small village that has a grocery store, two butchers, a post office, bakery and several restaurants. I have looked at a number of other properties in the area but have found none that I like as much as this one. Another definite plus is that the owners are so nice - very friendly, kind and helpful. I can't wait to return again to this property - it is a perfect place for a vacation or getaway.
