The cabin was nice enough, but the photos of the bedrooms were a bit mis-representative of the 2nd king size bedroom. One had to go out into a breeko block outer room (like a garage, but smaller)...and then into the "cave" bedroom as our family called it. We just felt like it was not represented well. The only other thing was that I called the owner and asked if I needed to bring any thing beside food and I was assured..."NO - it was all there." I am new to this, but I just expected more that one roll of toilet tissue per bathroom, and a half roll of paper towels in the kitchen. AND... I did expect there to be soap for the shower!! " It is FINE it they do not wish to provide, but I felt some warning should have been given to us, since the nearest store was 15 to 20 minutes away to get our needs.Recommended for: Families with teenagers.

We stayed for 6 days during Spring Break. We had a great time. The kitchen was well equiped, we enjoyed the grill for hamburgers, the hot tubs was great also. We had plenty of room and the view was pretty. Was not hard to find. Thanks for renting to us.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

This cabin was perfect for a girls weekend away from the kids! We had a blast just sitting on the back porch and looking out at the view. The cabin was clean and spacious and there were plenty of beds for all of us. The hot tub was great and we watched movies and cooked. I would definitely go back.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

Wonderful cabin! Very reasonable price. Clean and plenty of space. Beautiful view. Well stocked kitchen. Comfortable beds. The 3-level design allowed for the early-to-bed toddlers upstairs, the stay-up-late-and-play-games crowd on the main floor, and the sleep-in-late teensand tired parents on the lower level. With the game tables downstairs, hot tub and board games, this was probably the best rental we've used in terms of things to do onsite. By the last day we were running a little short on toilet paper, paper towels and garbage bags, but the property manager quickly brought us what we needed. But I'd recommend you just stick a few of those extras in your suitcase if you have large group. It was a wonderful pre-Christmas Christmas gathering spot half way between our families in Savannah and Cincinnati. Two thumbs up from all of us.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

The cabin was absolutely amazing. The place is huge, and had a lot of activities within the cabin to do. The 4 bedrooms were more than plenty and its slept everyone comfortably. The best part of the cabin, was the view from the back porch. It made it even better with the hot tub overlooking the side of the mountain, definitely the highlight of the weekend, watching the sunset in the hot tub. This was a fantastic stay and it was exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend anyone that wants to get away from the real world for a few days to spend a few nights at this cabin. You come back feeling refreshed and ready to go. I will definitely be coming back to stay here in the future.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

Three families stayed at this cabin for a weekend and we all felt grossly mislead by the description on VRBO. The listing says that the cabin is 20 minutes away from Rock City, Lookout Mountain and downtown Chattanooga. This is false. The cabin is 30 minutes from Chattanooga and 45 minutes from Rock City. When we arrived at the cabin we were surprised to find that nothing had been cleaned. Linens were piled up and no beds were made. I called the owner and he suggested we drive into town for dinner (even though it was 4pm and we had all been on the road for 3.5 hours). I found a number for the property manager and after speaking with her, discovered that they made a scheduling error so we had to wait 1.5 hours for the place to be cleaned. I understand that mistakes happen but the owner did not seem concerned at all. We tried to let the children play outside while the cabin was being cleaned and were surprised to learn that a walk to the river was not possible with children as the path was too steep and full of rough-cut brush. The front yard was the only grassy area on the property and it is a tiny fraction of the stated 12 acres. Another house is in the front yard of the cabin; separated by a small section of privacy fence. The brush behind the deck was littered with beer cans, liquor bottles, and trash. Among other disappointments: The air conditioning units are undersized as the temperature on the main and upper levels never got below 76 degrees (80 during the days and evenings). The two basement bedrooms were the only rooms cool enough to comfortably sleep in. The door handle was falling off our bedroom door making it impossible to shut; the microwave was filthy; and the ice maker didn't make ice. We were very displeased with our stay and would have left the cabin for a hotel closer to Chattanooga if we could have found one with enough available rooms. I have stayed at numerous VRBO properties and always had a pleasant experience (followed by a pleasant review) but our trip to Chattanooga was far from pleasant due to the owner's misleading statements. If you are looking for a nice cabin while visiting Chattanooga this is not it!Owner response: First and foremost, we would like to appologize profusely for the confussion with our cleaning crew. Arriving to a property that was not clean would be dreadful way to start a vacation, and I would have been very disappointed also. Granted, once our Property Manager learned of the situation, she did a very impressive job of running over with 4 other people, and cleaning the rather large property in 1.5 hours. Typically, she does a thorough sweep of the house and the grounds, and is very meticulous about making sure everything is top notch, so this was the exception rather than the rule. In regards to the a/c issue, we recently had both a/c units serviced, and did not know there was any problem. This should have been communicated to our Property Manager, Rachel, when she called to check-up on your party the day after you checked in. As for there being another property close to ours in the front yard, that is simply untrue. While our closest neighbor is on the other side of the crest of the hill the cabin is on, you cannot see anything but their roof-line, and even that is concealed by tall Evergreen trees, and a privacy fence. And the house is at least 200 yards away. We did check on the driving distance to the attractions mentioned, and you are correct, Chattanooga is 30 min away, and Ruby Falls is 40 minutes away, so we will correct that in our listing. Thank you for your input. Happy future travels.

Our family had a terrific time at Tom's Cabin. Although it rained most of the week, we still enjoyed cooler temps and beautiful evenings on the back porch. We would highly recommend this cabin as the price was right and the cabin was spacious. We topped off the week with white water rafting with Cherokee Rafting - top notch.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+.

We had 3 families converge for a week with 5 kids (ranging from 2 -10 yrs old). We each had our own space and the common areas were large enough for all of us to be comfortable. The almost wrap around porch was great for the kids to play and the view was beautiful. The pool table, foosball table and air hockey tables were enjoyed all week. The movies, games and books were also used. The hot tub was a nice treat after the kids were in bed. It was an easy 30 minute drive to Chattanooga for attractions and there are plenty of grocery/convenience stores within 10 minutes. The owners were easily reached when we needed them.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, sightseeing, girls getaway.

What an amazing space. I've stayed in quite a few VRBO homes, and this one is among my favorites. It's secluded with an amazing view out the back, yet you can be in Chattanooga in 20 minutes. The rooms are spacious, and well decorated. The couches are comfy. The dining table opens is surrounded by 3x double french doors. All six doors open for an amazing indoor/outdoor dining experience. The view looks so much like Australia. It's great!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
