Our wonderful home and gardens in East Hampton are unique. We have enjoyed years of fun with a large family and many friends in this paradise!
The main house is a farmhouse from the 1800's which has been lovingly restored and added onto through the years. This house has a charming, warm, inviting and whimsical spirit. It is comfortable and casual in the old-time Hamptons beach cottage style. The main house has 5 bedrooms and 5 full baths. Each bedroom has either a private patio or deck. The separate dining room has a large farmhouse table that can seat up to 14 (we've done it many times!). The kitchen is fully equipped, and the stone floored living room has woodburning fireplace. The master bedroom has a large separate office which can also be used as an extra bedroom. The Master suite also has a lovely container garden patio on one side, and working greenhouse on the other side.
The backyard lawn of the property is a paradise. It is huge, and surrounded by a beautiful gardens and trees. We have enjoyed many a wiffel ball and croquet contest there. The back patio which faces onto the lawn is perfect for cocktails, barbeques and entertaining. The 20 by 40ft. heated gunite pool, including gunite spa, is located at the back of the property and is screened for privacy. The pool/spa area has a soothing Zen quality, and is stunning. The property is fully landscape lighted for nighttime fun and festivities.
The pool house/guest cottage is adorable, with full sleeping loft with king bed, full bath, small kitchen and outdoor shower.
This is a magical, amazing place. It has been my Shangri La and escape over 20 years! It is perfect for a large family or a number of couples. It is fun, funky, and fabulous!! If you are not familiar with the Hamptons, the beaches, farmstands, shopping, restaurants, are some of the best in the world. This is a truly historical area famous also for its beaches, artists, museums, and outdoor activities. It is a paradise for people of all ages!!!

Hi Minerva! We all had a wonderful time. I loved the location of your place and was able to walk to the Farm stand and up to the Bagel shop a number of times. Your house is very charming and your backyard and pool area is just beautiful. My mother loves flowers (of course I do to), but that outdoor area is truly special. Our highlights were Main Beach, Coopers Beach, Montauk Lighthouse and the Winery you recommended. The family meals we shared around the table and cocktails out on the porch were truly memorable. Your caretaker, Ann was wonderful and very responsive, so we really appreciated that. Thank you for allowing us the use of your home in the beautiful Hamptons! Sincerely, Susan

Great but car is an absolute necessity

The house is wonderful, comfortable, private; the garden is indeed stunning; the pool is wonderful. The owner is very helpful and accommodating. However, there is no air conditioning in the living room, dining room or kitchen. Expect to walk half an hour to a grocery store, 45 minutes to get to the part of East Hampton where all the shops and restaurants are. On the other hand, Round Swamp Farm is very close by, and is much, much more than a farm stand (great prepared food, fresh seafood, local vegetables). We didn't even try to walk to the beach - it would already be a long bike ride, so you will need to think about parking your car at the beach (expensive and complicated). When we were there the car with the beach stickers was unavailable ... but it was June so we risked parking tickets and got away with it. Noise from the road is quite present when in the garden, but you don't hear it when you're in the house or on the terrace. Even though we rented for two weeks, house keeping was not included in between weeks. Beware of the recommended cleaner - she quoted a price, then showed up with a friend and insisted that it was that much for each one.
Owner response:Thought it important to address the points raised in this review. Indeed, a car is necessary. The walk to East Hampton however is only about 20 minutes, and a 10 minute walk to the IGA grocery store. Parking at the beach is $20 per day, and the beach is within biking distance, definitely not within walking distance, which I always make clear, and provide information on how to obtain a beach sticker, and how to negotiate beach parking at the various beaches. I have never installed A/C in the main areasof the house as the house stays quite cool, expecially when doors and windows are open during the summer. I have only felt the need, even in the hottest weather, to have AC's in the bedrooms for sleeping. Noise from the road in the house, and back grounds has never been an issue for me, my family, or any other guests.

well, what can i say about this wonderful house and its owner! words cannot express how i feel! from the moment you walk in you fall in love and complete feeling of peace falls over you. can it be the "hominess", can it be the magnificent garden, can it be the gorgeous crockery, or the fact that you never want for a thing there? hmmm, can it be the pool, discreetly hidden behind the foliage, or the steaming spa underneath the moonlit sky. can it be the smile on my dogs face as she frolicked on the grass, or the sound of my children laughing as we played a game of baseball on the enormous expansive backyard, yes it could be all of these things.........but personally i think it is the many years of obviously happy memories and good times that have been had here over the years and just permeate the very fibre of this house and all that come to it. did i have a good time there?personally i dont want anyone to find out about it as i want it all to myself, but that would just be depriving you all of a truly magical experience. would i go back.......in a heartbeat!

We had a wonderful family vacation at this lovely East Hampton home. We were a large group of all ages and everyone just loved it. The garden and huge back yard are beautiful and exceptionally maintained, the house and guest house are charming and casual. The pool and spa were great for the kids and adults alike. We would return anytime. I highly recommend this property!

I can't say enough how much my family and I enjoyed staying in this lovely home. We had a group of adults and children and it is truly perfect for all ages. We would definitely rent it again and recommend it to others. The pictures don't do it justice and the home owner couldn't be easier to work with.

This is a charming home and was a wonderful summer rental for us. The relaxed atmosphere provided the perfect antidote to frenetic city life. The owner was very accommodating-- which added to the overall warmth of the home-- good karma! The grounds and pool are lovely!!!

I can’t recommend this house (and its owner) enough. From the moment that I spotted the listing through the entire time that I spent at the house, entire experience was just pure bliss. The house and grounds are remarkably charming replete with classic Hamptons country home furnishings and then combined with landscaping that is reminiscent of an English garden: manicured yet wild all at once. All this is then sprinkled with a hint of whimsy. You have only to sit in the moonlight in the poolside hot tub and turn the outdoor lights on your first night to appreciate the beauty of the entire setting, with your eyes slowly taking the full picture in through the perimeter lights, the glowing Buddha and the shining urn in the center of the great lawn, all lit to perfection. Anyone reading the description of this house and grounds and viewing the photos on this site should take comfort that both the description and the photos are accurate, even if they can’t possibly communicate the very special feeling that the property evokes immediately upon arrival. This is a sprawling “country” house with enormous charm and replete with every amenity possible. The bedrooms are each decorated in a different hue and have a very private feel and each is very separate from the other. The bathrooms are comfortable and spacious and there is a charming outdoor shower for anyone who likes the feel of cool water in the warm air (I prided myself in never showering indoors while there!) It has a fresh slate slab underneath (nothing squishy or suspect beneath your feet) and is surrounded by fencing for maximum privacy. The kitchen, dining room and outside grill area are set up for a household that likes to cook and entertain; every pot, platter, utensil or table linen that you might possibly require to cook and present dinner for 10, 20 or even 30 is there and conveniently organized and arranged. And finally, the property’s owner is clearly special as well; this will be obvious as soon as you contact her. Clearly this is her home, not just a house and she loves it and cares that you should as well. That will be evident throughout your stay: from the lovely hand painted welcome note with local bottles of wine you may see, to the decorative touches throughout the house and the clear evidence that real people inhabit this home when we are not there. They read interesting books, play board games, likely sit and have long engaging conversations over twinkling tea candles at

I highly recommend this wonderful home. I had a large group of family and friends and we had a thoroughly enjoyable time in every way. To start, the owner of the home could not have been more gracious and accommodating. She did everything possible to ensure our group had an enjoyable stay, and made the rental feel like a transaction between family friends. Everything about the house met or exceeded our expectations. The backyard, patio and swimming pool are beautiful, and the plantings and flowers really create a stunning setting. The gardeners in my group really marveled at the all of the flowers! The bedrooms are all comfortable, warm and clearly were decorated by someone with a great eye for design. The house is bright and cheery and has every convenience one could ask for at the beach while maintaining a pleasantly relaxed beach house atmosphere. The guesthouse is perfect for guests with young children and has plenty of space. Each bedroom has it's own outdoor space which allows everyone a bit of space on their own. And the owner permitted us to bring our dog, which we appreciated greatly. All in all a great house at the beach! Highly recommended!

If you’re looking for a retreat to rejuvenate your mind and spirit, look no further. You have arrived!I, my husband and two other couples shared a week at this delightfully restored farmhouse in early June, returning to the community where we all met as singles. When you walk through the door you can feel your body relax, leaving life’s stresses far behind. Some of the memories we will take with us are: - Waking up each morning to cheerfully decorated bedrooms with private baths. Quality mattresses covered with some luxurious down comforters and attractive linens made for good sleeping. Outside patios adjoining the bedrooms gave everyone time for some solitary moments. One bedroom even had a private suite.-Sharing home cooked meals each day while seated at a charming farmhouse table in the tastefully antique decorated dining room. The congenial atmosphere seemed to spark our appetites.-Cooking together with a great cooperative spirit in the fully equipped kitchen.-Socializing in the cozy living room furnished with plush love seats situated around a large screen television and fireplace. One rainy day we lit a fire and things couldn’t be more serene.-Relaxing inside the indoor hot tub during “happy hours.” - And saving the best for last, sitting outside on the backyard stoned patio with overhead awning and wicker chairs surrounded by numerous potted plants of all varieties and colors, including a strawberry plant that was ripe for the picking as well as growing herbs that went into every dinner. The patio opened up to a magnificent lawn with borders of beautiful perennial plantings as far as the eye could see ending at the outdoor pool and spa. It reminded everyone of an English country garden. We spent countless hours outside reading, conversing, napping, listening to the piped in music from the CD player and just gazing out at the tranquil scene before us.Another plus was that the owner was extremely easy to deal with and took the time to leave a personal painted welcome note which we’ve kept and allowed us to check out at any time. She even was thoughtful enough to purchase four local wines for our drinking pleasure. This wonderful house in the ideal beach community of East Hampton has left us totally refreshed and with memories to last a lifetime. Nothing seemed lacking except that vacations always come to an end too soon.
