Owner's Map of Blowing Rock
My family came to Blowing Rock in the early sixties and found this magnificent 5 acre mountaintop a glorious place to spend the summers and escape the summer heat of the city. I always felt it was too special to not share, so a few years ago, we renovated the three story lodge, adding a new kitchen to the upper two level living area. The kitchen boasts a Viking range, tile countertops and an onyx bar. The sitting area of the kitchen has a bank of windows to enjoy the view. Maple floors were added along with cherry walls in the living room which has soaring heights and huge picture windows. The treetop master suite with bath offers incredible breezes and the feeling you can almost touch the moon and the stars and then awaken to a breathtaking sunrise. The mid level private suite offers bath
and vestibule The granite fireplace is original using granite from Grandfather Mountain. CloudForest has always been an incredibly special place to enjoy the most breathtaking views, hike the trails and enjoy privacy and peace in an enchanting setting. As a licensed North Carolina Real Estate agent, I have had an opportunity to extensively explore the High Country and am always reminded that there is nothing quite like CloudForest. It is a delight to be able to share this special spot - guests always find such awe in the experience.

We happened to come the weekend that the area had their coldest temps on record! But it didn't impede the exceptional time we had at Cloudforest!! Charlotte is so sweet and was attentive to details that made our trip memorable and wanting us to come back for more. The view was just Awesome and we were determined to experience it outside no matter what. With coffee and her warm pinecone blanket in tow with treats and books we stayed out and enjoyed it all!!! From the beautiful granite fireplace with its toasty and enchanting fire, to the lovely scented soaps, antique family teacups, stained glass accents all around, exceptional mattress & sheets, beautiful landscape and trails, deer, birds, and the VIEW......well we could go on and on.....We LOVED it and will most definately be back as soon as we can! Thank you Charlotte for making a memorable time for us! Cloudforest is truly a Treasure!!

We had a wonderful time at CloudForest! The artwork, décor, fireplace and amazing views were absolutely superb. We specifically loved the Viking range and enjoyed cooking in two nights of our stay. We had a couple of visitors from nature while we sat on the porch - hawks, hummingbirds, and an adorable doe with her fawn. The overall feeling of staying in the cabin is inexplicable - something you must experience to understand - you'll know what we mean once you step inside. It practically sings stories of children playing, adults laughing and the very walls exude memories from times past...and calls for memories still to be made. We are so grateful that this family home is being shared with visitors - it is wonderful being a part of the rich history at CloudForest. We'll be back, hopefully soon!

My husband and I just returned from a last minute weekend getaway to Blowing Rock, NC. We stayed at Cloudforest Lodge and it was wonderful. The view is breathtaking...overlooking miles and miles of unspoiled national forest. And you can see the lights of Charlotte in the distance. The covered porch is a wonderful place to watch birds and deer. The ambiance of the house is warm and welcoming. Furnished with art and antiques, this home is a lovely retreat. It is clean and well-maintained with all the amenities you might want. We would definitely recommend this home to others and we will definitely return again. Charlotte is a most gracious hostess and easily accessible should you need anything.
Owner response:Thank you so much for your kind response. I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay so much. You were absolutely perfect guests whom we would love to have return.

The view from the front deck of Treetops at CloudForest will make you think of Heaven! The cool breezes will refresh and Charlotte's hospitality will warm your heart. And Chaucer is the sweetest little dog there is! We spent a month here and got out of Florida's summer heat. So glad that we did. Treetops at CloudForest is a wonderful vacation spot near everything - golf, hiking, fishing, shopping, great restaurants, and whatever. We plan to return first chance we get. Thanks Charlotte and Chaucer!

You go to Blowing Rock in the summer to find cool weather and enjoy the views. The former is usually the case and latter is always the case if you book this property. The large expansive deck overlooks an unobstructed vista that is just breathtaking. Comfortable wood deck furniture with cushions allows you to enjoy the view in comfort, and the nearby hammock lets you grab a few winks without having to leave the deck. Inside are two bedrooms, both comfortable with separate bathrooms. The upper loft is best for early risers who will appreciate the light streaming into the space, while the lower bedroom offers a darker environment conducive to sleeping in. Both beds were comfortable with good mattresses. The property was clean, and the a/c worked well. The WiFi availability was also appreciated. While the good far outweighs the bad, there were a few negatives here. The supplied dishes, glasses, coffee cups, etc. looked like they came straight from a garage sale. There were few matching items, cereal bowls with cracked handles, plates that could not be put into the microwave, only two real coffee mugs and a limited hodgepodge of wine glasses. Plus the $10 Walmart style coffee maker broke after the first day and there was no toaster available at all. Admitedly, most people, us included, don't do a lot of cooking on a vacation like this, but we do enjoy making breakfast and having drinks and snacks on the deck in the afternoon. In a house this nice, the lack of even reasonably nice kitchen amenities detracted from the experience. Another peculiary was the lotions and shampoos in the bathrooms. They came from a variety of hotels and various and sundry sources. Thus we had Best Western lotion and Omni Hotel shampoo in our bathroom. I guess this could be looked on as a really good way to economize on these items, but it seemed a little unusual in a $195/ night rental unit. But, as said before, these were minor considerations. This property provides the views, quiet and tranquility that are the reasons you go to the mountains. Everything else is secondary.
Owner response:Making your vacation a truly joyous experience is of the utmost importance to us. One of the many things I enjoy about staying in VRBO homes is the eclectic mix and personal touch. Much of the crystal stemware dates back to my grandmother and the coffee mugs are memorabilia accumulated over the forty years of owning this wonderful refuge. In your honor, I will purchase a new and complete set along with a new toaster. I am hoping that the Italian pottery dinner plates which fit in so nicely on the cherry dining table will still be appreciated by most guests in spite of the fact that ceramic glazes do not take well to the rapid heat of a microwave. There are an additional six plates in the cupboard that are microwavable. The soaps collected over the years are probably not the novelty that we see them as and will be removed. I do hope you noticed that there are soap dispensers in each bath/shower and at each sink. The coffee pot was replaced the day you told me of its malfunction. The birds are singing, the temperatures are cool with gentle breezes - it really is heavenly at CloudForest.

This home far exceeded our expectations - the pictures don't begin to do it justice. The deck is out of a dream - to look out over endless miles of forest and mountains, to see twinkling lights of towns in the distance, and up close below to watch fireflies lighting up like something in a fairy tale.... it was heaven! Inside the house is filled with art, antiques, stained glass, books, and all the conveniences of home. We definitely hope to come back again next year!

Cloudforest is the perfect mountain lodge. The views are spectacular, and in the evenings you can see the twinkling lights of Blowing Rock. Sunrise is beautiful from the front porch. No details were left unturned, as the home is well appointed, and a place that you automatically feel welcomed, and relaxed. My girlfriends and I enjoyed our time at Cloud Forest, along with a trip fly fishing in nearby Todd, one day services at West Glow (very close), and shopping in Blowing Rock. Blowing Rock Grill, and Bistro Roca were our favorite resturants. And don't forget a mountain hike around Bass Lake. We are already making plans to return to Cloud Forest. It is heaven on earth.

CloudForest is a charming home in an absolutely amazing location. Driveway winds up the side of Misty mountain and opens to large, private setting. From the home's upper deck, you can see miles of the Pisgah Forest range below and sunrise views from both the deck and the master bedroom are breathtaking. We had a spectacular fall week-end. Our mornings were spent relaxing on the deck and quietly watching deer in the wooded areas below. We were just minutes away from Blowing Rock where we enjoyed shopping and excellent dinners at Bistro Roca and The Best Cellar. With easy access to the Blue Ridge Parkway, we toured the Moses Cone House, walked along Bass Lake, drove to Grandfather Mountain for more spectacular views and great hiking. We're already planning another trip to CloudForest and definitely plan to stay longer next time!
