Owner was great to work with! Kitchen was big and updated but a little sparse in cookware. Living area and porch were very confortable. The house seemed a little bigger than the pictures show. Loved having the passes to the Shoals Club, beach chairs were easy to pick up right by the beach. Had a wonderful time and would go back for another girl's trip. Wouldn't change anything and would go back to this house. Thank you owners!

What a wonderful week! This much needed vacation was pure bliss. This was a working vacation for my husband, and there were no problems with the internet connection. I, however, spent most of my days either on a bike, walking the beach, exploring with the cart, or under an umbrella on the beach. One day I even biked up to the edge of Fort Fisher! The ride back into the wind was grueling, but fun. Bed at 9:30 that nite! The house has many amenities we didn't even use. Televisions in every bedroom, plenty of games, etc. We loved the Ipod docking station and used it every evening. Coffee most mornings was had on the front porch. The house was clean, plenty of towels, and the owners and house manager were extremely accommodating. We would definitely rent this house again.

Myself and four others had a great time in this beautiful house! The pictures are a little dark, but once you get to the house you see truly how nice the place is. The owners were very accommodating and we just had a great experience. Would definitely come back!!!

Charming Home

Our family had such a wonderful time at this lovely home. The maritime forest is such a serene and peaceful setting. Yet the home is a short distance from East beach. We really enjoyed relaxing on the inviting front porch and cooking in the kitchen. We will definitely be back. Thanks for sharing!

As former BHI home owner and frequent visitor for the past 20+ years, we've come to appreciate the good rental situations....and your's is one of those we would certainly return to. A bit disappointed

4th trip to the Island that we LOVE--The lock on front door was broken when we arrivved at the home, the phone numbers on rental agreement to maintenence& housekeeping are not good numbers--the phone numbers on the refrig did not return our calls--Looked up owners home number on computer & left a message that was not returned--the home was NOT CLEANED--the floors were so dirty, actually the house was VERY unclean---hair on bathmats was horrible, kitchen oven was so nasty that we did not use it---the front right tire on golf cart is bald and the parking brake worked only about 25% of the time--we had to be careful how we parked so the cart would not be damaged or damage other property--The paperwork from the owner says that Shoals Club temp dues are 115.00 week, they are 150.00--That was okay w/us, but some folks may be on a tighter budget & would need to know that---We did not use the Crofter, but did go look in it..the door handle fell off in my hand when we closed the door shut--Again, we had no numbers to report anything--on our last day, I did call owners realty company that apparently he owns--again, he was not available but I did leave a message--I wanted someone to know that we had no choice but to leave his home unlocked---The home however is in the perfect location--In the cape fear station area that we so love..very peaceful & VERY close to the Shoals Club which is so nice--I am sorry to be so negative, but I wish someone had warned us about the lack of housekeeping & lack of communication capabilities in getting things fixed--

Owner response:Let me first say that I am most sorry for this guest's dissatisfaction over our home. We please the vast majority of our guests. We have spared no expense. We have had this same housekeeper for 3 years and in our experience she has done for the most part, an excellent job. The housekeeper states that she and her crew spent 3 hours cleaning the home one day prior to this guest’s arrival. We have rented our home for 6 years on Bald Head and truthfully this is the first guest that we didnt satisfy,but by their own admission they were very picky. Regarding the comment I did not reply to the guest, this is not soley my fault. This guest did not call the contact number listed in VRBO nor did they try the email… Had they called the correct contact number, my staff at my office is available 7 days a week... Instead they called directory assistance and attempted to call me at my home phone.The list of phone numbers on the refrigerator was mostly accurate.The numbers for HVAC, Plumbing and one of the general maintenance numbers were exactly correct... I am stymied as to why she could not reach the first contact for maintenance on that list who is on the Island on a daily basis. I have only just discovered that one of the general maintenance providers stopped providing general maintenance services without informing me. He was the second contact on the list (this is obviously the person she reached). I understand the lock has been fixed, but am not sure as of the day and I know that they were out 3 times and had to order a part in order to complete the repair. Regarding the club memberships, I will certainly correct my information.... I went as far as to offer the guest a refund for the inconvenience. I stand by our home and keep it far above the standard of most homes in the rental program on the Island... our guest book in the home has many such testimonies and further most of our guests are repeat guests.... that does not forgive us for this guest not having a more than satisfying vacation on the Island... The adage that you can please most of the people most of the time is certainly apt here... and regretfully per that saying we have found the one that we cannot satisfy all the time.... I stand solidly behind the quality and cleanliness of our home.... Thanks for the opportunity to reply..... Keith

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Canterwood Cottage over Labor Day. We love Bald Head Island and this is definitely one of our favorite places that we have stayed on the island. The layout of the home is great, the decor is beautiful and beds are very comfy. We love coming to Bald Head to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of our daily lives and recharge and we felt right at home in this cottage. It is truly a place to enjoy the splendor of God's creation. Thank you Keith for opening your home to us and for all your help to setup our trip. We hope to be back soon!

A perfect Bald Head Island cottage

Just what we were looking for!

This house was just perfect for our family! It is cozy yet plenty of room for each person. Very nicely decorated & accomodating. The location is great for observing wildlife. We watched a deer strolling the street right in front of the house & and there were always plenty of squirrels & little lizards that kept the kids entertained! We could walk right around the corner to a commons area for a picnic or nature trail & it was a quick ride to the beach. Overall, we felt "home". I think we've finally found the house we would enjoy returning to each year! We started coming to BHI as a couple & now being a family of four, we know how blessed we are to be in such a place each time we step off the ferry into Old Baldy's view. Thank you for sharing you island home with us!

What a great house and Keith is great to work with. We loved the house and really enjoyed our week here, we so look forward to returning again. Canterwood Cottage is picture perfect with all the comforts of home, and we would highly recommend this property. We were on BHI in the middle of September, the weather was perfect, the Monarch butterflies had just arrived, and the whole island was alive with wildlife! We even had a six point buck wonder up to the back of the house ... to say the least my girls were extremely pleased! All I can is that at the end of our stay we did not want to go home, and we will be back asap! Thanks again to Keith for being so easy to work with and for sharing his home with us!

Keith Wanted to let you know that we enjoyed your home very much We have stayed at the island for 10 years now and your home was the most comfortable one that we have stayed in. Being so close to the East Beach and the park was great It also helped that the weather was so nice - 3 hours of rain for the 2 weeks we were there Best regards Jason

We enjoyed our stay at Canterwood Cottage the week after Memorial Day 2009. The home is very welcoming and comfortable. BHI is the true meaning of Vacation. The owners were very accomodating and made our trip a breeze. We hope to be back in 2010!!

I would just like to say thank you for letting my wife and I stay at your beautiful home at Bald Head Island for our anniversary. It was our first time on the island and it was memorable, from the moment we arrived at Deep Point until the time we returned. Your home could not have been more welcoming to us, we really felt at home. We look forward to having the opportunity of staying at your home again in the future and this time with our two children ( I know they will love the bunk beds) and let them enjoy the island as well. The guest book in the home has all very positive comments regarding the comfort and amenities of the home and how much the stay was enjoyed... but regretfully none have come to the guest book to add comments.
