Moody Beach house description
... ideally located on the Rachel Carson Refuge with spectacular sunsets and beautiful marsh birds, yet across from sandy Moody Beach (which connects to Ogunquit Beach) to give you six miles of THE BEST walking beaches in southern Maine.
Enjoy brilliant sunrises on the eastern beach horizon, if you are an early riser. East of the Sun-West of the Moon is on a dead-end avenue; thus, limited traffic adds to your serenity as well as the safety of children.
Tall maple trees canopy the premises, as you may enjoy outdoor grill dining at the picnic table. Superb restaurants and shops are plentiful in the quaint, upscale villages of Ogunquit (2 miles) and Kennebunkport (15 miles).
Be sure to see the Bush compound in K'port and walk the famous rocky coastal trail --The Marginal Way -- that begins at Perkins Cove ( numerous casual shops and dining.) Also visit Portland's Old Port, a charming renovated waterfront.
Fun Town USA ( amusements, a water slide, miniature golf, batting cages) and Old Orchard Beach (amusements/bars/live bands) can provide entertainment for many. Thus,
E/Sun-W/Moon offers it all for a delightful vacation!

Year Purchased: 1998
About the owner: Being a retired biology teacher, I an an avid birdwatcher, as well as an active "senior." Viewing beautiful birds on the marsh and walking the spectacular Moody/Ogunquit Beaches keep me most content and fit. My immaculate, yet beachy-rustic cottage is meant to be enjoyed in a tranquil way (certainly not a group-partying way). The respect for my haven by previous vacationers has been deeply appreciated. Another key interest of mine is travel. From Australia, Croatia and Greece to Scotland,England and Italy, I have visited various cultures/living standards to only appreciate mine all the more. Residing in SW Florida during the winter months, I am able to experience the complete realm of paradise throughout the year.
Why the Owner Chose Moody Beach:
Being in the right place at the right time sums it up. What a jewel of a place! The Ogunquit/Wells/Moody Beach area of Southern Maine is THE best spot. With the breath-taking Marginal Way of Ogunquit , as well as the six miles of sandy flat beaches, one is able to view Maine's typical rocky coast, yet walk/swim/blanket it on white sand. With fresh seafood always available in fabulous restaurants.... what's not to like? In addition my cottage is only two hours to Boston, 40 minutes to Portsmouth, N.H. and 40 minutes to Portland, Maine, where "the Old Port" is filled with quaint shops and outstanding restaurants. It is indeed about location, location, location.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Not to belabor, but being able to walk the best beach (just across the avenue) or simply sitting quietly by the natural marsh and reading are my favorite things to do. Biking is also easy to do, for it is mostly flat terrain along the Moody/Wells coast. Another bonus is the close proximity of Kennebunkport, famous for the Bush Compound. It is a delightful, upscale resort town ----- so picturesque and only 20 minutes away. Over the last ten years, board-surfing and wind-surfing have become very popular. (I do not surf, but enjoy watching it.) Of course, it is not Hawaii style, but it sure looks like fun. Lastly, there is wonderful kayaking in the channel of my marsh and so many areas along the coast of Southern Maine. Scarborough, Maine has a fabulous shanty, where one may rent canoes and kayaks (just a half-hour away). If a family wishes to visit an amusement park/town, then they may trek to FUNTOWN USA and/or Old Orchard Beach. OOB is a bit "tacky", but is fun for an afternoon or evening. (OOB is about 45 minutes away.)
