Whether you are looking for a place that offers peace and tranquility where you can relax and enjoy the soothing noises of nature or whether you are looking for a place to take your children so they can run through the woods and feel free to scream at the top of their lungs then this is the place for you. For one whole week we enjoyed this beautiful spot where we half expected Christopher Robin and Pooh to emerge from the woods, after all it's the Hundred Acre Woods. The kids fished, played hide and seek behind the trees, made bows and arrows and became Indians scouting the woods. We literally had to drag them back to the house to eat their meals and when bedtime came they lay awake for hours talking about all they had witnessed and heard in the woods that day. And believe me they saw and heard a lot from snakes, opossum , armadillo, and deer to some howling noises at night that none of us could quite recognize. It made for a wonderful adventure that we will always remember and cherish. Our dog Sophie certainly had the best time of her life and more freedom than she has ever known. The Catterdon's were warm and welcoming and certainly very generous. We hope we will get the opportunity to stay their again,after a few days it becomes so comfortable it feels like home. We were all genuinely sad to leave . Go there, you will not be disappointed.

MCGRADY FAMILY STAY AT CATKIN

THIS CABIN IS ONLY 4 MILES FROM EXIT 42 ON I 95 YET, IT IS THE ULTIMATE IN SECLUSION, QUIET & SERENITY WITH NATURE. IT IS 2 MILES OF UNPAVED DRIVEWAY HOWEVER, WE WERE ALL 4 ON LARGE ROAD BIKES & HAD NO PROBLEMS GETTING IN & OUT, IN FACT IT SEEMED TO ADD TO THE CHARM. WHILE THE OUTSIDE OF CABIN IS VERY RUSTIC & UNDERSTATED, THE INSIDE WAS IMMACULATE W BEAUTIFUL PINE BOARD PANELING THROUGHOUT. THE CATTERTONS ARE HARD WORKING, GOD FEARING PEOPLE WHO OWN THIS SECLUDED "RETREAT". I CAN'T WAIT TO TAKE MY WIFE DOWN FOR A STAY SOMETIME. IT'S ALSO ABOUT HALFWAY FROM BALTIMORE TO ORLANDO, GOOD STOP OFF POINT. THERE ARE SEVERAL RESTAURANTS WITHIN 5 MILES BUT, BEAUTIFUL HISTORIC BEAUFORT IS ONLY 35 MINUTES AWAY. AND HISTORIC CHARLESTON MAYBE AN HOUR DRIVE. AFTER TOURING ALL THE ISLANDS FOR SEVERAL DAYS,THEN RETURNING TO THE SERENITY OF THIS CABIN, WE HATED TO LEAVE. SAW A RACCOON ON PORCH ONE NITE, BULLFROGS BELLOWING & AN OCCASIONAL LITTLE BOAT ON THE RIVER, (75 YARDS FROM THE CABIN). SO, IF YOU WANT FANCY MOTELS W 4 STAR EATERIES NEXT TO IT THEN THIS ISN'T FOR YOU. BUT IF YOU WANT A TASTE OF ABSOLUTE SERENITY THEN CHECK THIS OUT. WE FOUND THAT HAVING NO TV WAS A BLESSING, FOUND THAT IT LEAD TO SOME DEEP, HEARTFELT CONVERSATIONS THAT MAY NOT HAVE OCCURRED W A TV ON. WE WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS REAL "GETAWAY" WITH TRUE SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY. FINE KITCHEN BUT, WE PREFERRED THE NICE GRILL ONT LARGE DECK. MAC

Great Place for those who love the Outdoors

I always enjoy finding those little spots that offer something a little different. If you love the out doors and you want quiet place to visit with family and friends then you have found the right place . Great accommodations and a porch swing that pulls the stress out of your mind . Did i mention that the river flows through the property and that the fish need to be feed. Give the owner a call and do not wait because I am getting ready to book my next visit.

My wife and I enjoyed the tranquility of this retreat from April 3 to April 6, 2009. The cabin had all the comforts of a river cabin and the decks were fabulous for viewing the river and enjoying the wildlife. The first evening we were treated to three armadillos passing thru - two were either fighting or mating. A perfect locatin for viewing migrating birds and exploring the Salkehatchie. Very private - very wonderful. We would stay here again. Thanks for sharing this special spot with others. The Foys
