Our Hilton Head Escape - Cozy on a Private Wooded Lot

Our lovely retreat home can best be described as elegant beach casual. Completely renovated - everything inside was newly purchased in 2009 - including flooring (carpet, hardwood and travertine tile), kitchen counters and appliances, bath counters, fixtures, travertine showers and ALL furniture. The house backs onto a wooded area and the family room features glass doors which open to a large, very private rear deck overlooking the woods.
There is an eat-in kitchen, dining room, family room with a 50-inch flatscreen television, three bedrooms and two baths. The master bedroom has a king bed and private bath. Each of the guest bedrooms has a queen bed and one also has a set of bunk beds. There is a smaller flatscreen television in the master bedroom as well as a small television in one of the guest bedrooms. Two new Townie bicycles, five beach chairs and a couple of boogie boards are stored on site too.
Located just inside the Sea Pine's Greenwood gate, it is an easy bike ride or short drive to not only the Sea Pines Beach Club, but also Coligny Beach - the most popular beach on the island. Movie theaters, Starbucks, grocery stores and several restaurants are virtually just around the corner.
It's great to be in Sea Pines because of all it offers in the way of recreation away from the beach. There are miles of bike paths on which you can explore all of the beautifully landscaped plantation. You can bike, walk or drive through a forest preserve that contains an ancient Indian site and several lakes - beautiful to look at and even better for fishing. The preserve also offers abundant opportunities for seeing alligators and for birdwatchers to enjoy their favorite pastime. In addition, located within Sea Pines are golf courses, tennis courts, riding stables and all the shops, restaurants and activities associated with both Harbor Town and South Beach Harbor.

After a vacation-less summer, I decided to take a last-second one-week vacation in November in Hilton Head Island - my first ever visit there. It definitely will not be my last. Words and pictures alone cannot describe this beautiful vacation home - you have to be here to experience it. Immaculate, with all the modern amenities you could ever need. Susan was absolutely wonderful in helping to make the arrangements for our stay on such short notice and for providing useful information about things to do on the island. Highlights of our stay - besides the acorns and pine cones that rained relentlessly on the roof (it WAS autumn) and riding a bicycle for the first time in 17 years - were the two cute little lizards that got into the house and hid underneath the refrigerator, a result of us leaving the sliding door open. (Don't worry Susan...there were definitely only two...I caught them and released them on the back deck!) My only disappointment was having to leave...one week was definitely too short, especially after long 15-hour round-trip drives between Hilton Head and New York. I would definitely love to come back and rent this property for two weeks, time and money permitting. For any prospective renters out there reading this review, in choosing this vacation home as a rental, you will not be disappointed.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Thanks, Fred. So glad you enjoyed your stay! Also glad you met some of our "pets". I'm impressed you were able to catch them as they are VERY fast! Thanks again for your kind words. Susan

My family of 5 loved this place...excellent private deck; LARGE HD TV (50+"); upscaled Kitchen (all stainless steel TOP OF THE LINE appliances!!!); eat in kitchen and grand open dining table. The proprietors could not be friendlier with prompt communication and step by step instructions. Location is in Sea Pines and in a perfect location! All in all...this home is excellently placed whereby the master bed is away from all the day noise (if you call it noise...my grandson playing Shoots & Ladders). This is a perfect place to stay and comfortably sleeps 8!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Thanks for the great review and we're so glad you enjoyed your stay. We agree that the master bedroom is a good place to retreat from the family activity! Thanks again, Susan

My family of 8 stayed in this house the week of June 12, 2010. We loved it. The dining room table was an excellent place to gather and play games in the evening. We really enjoyed the location of the property and we plan on staying here next year when we visit Hilton Head. The house is so clean and neat, and we had plenty of room to spread out. We especially liked the big deck and grill. I would definately recommend this house to others. We give it 5 stars!!!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Thanks for your kind words about our house. It's great to know it helped you enjoy your time in Hilton Head! Susan and Mike
