My husband and I spent the last four days of our vacation at Playa Caribe#5. We were totally happy with the condo. Spotlessly clean and smells so fresh. Large master bath with great water pressure which we were so happy about after four days on the Tulum beach in a cabana with hardly a trickle for a shower. Bed very comfortable and linens very nice. Games, music, great Mexican art and decor. And greatest of all, a truly spectacular view. We could see turtles bobbing their head in the bay and the color of the water is amazing. The staff were so nice and helpful. We rented bikes from the manager, Agustine, and rode back and forth from the main Akumal bay to snorkel, shop and eat. Also, Annie, the owner, was a pleasure to work with and helped make our stay there so special. We can't wait to visit Akumal and Caribe #5 again!

This is a beautiful condo with an awesome view! Playa Caribe Condos are the best on this stretch of beach and have all the amenties you need including filtered water system throughout and a swimming pool. You can stroll on the beach, snorkel out your front door or walk into town to local restaurants and shops. We spent New Year's at the La Buena Vida... great bar on the sand and 2 doors down the street. There are endless activities for all ages in the area (we enjoyed snorkeling in the cenotes!) or simply spend the day on a lounge chair on the beach and never leave the property. We would go back again and again. We love Akumal!
Owner response:We are happy to hear that you and your family had a wonderful stay at Playa Caribe #5. Just let us know when you want to come back! Annie and John

We had a wonderful time in this condo in December 2011. We arrived at night and were greeted by Augustin (the night guard), and in the morning by Augustine (the day time manager). The condo was fabulous and airy and bright. There was everything we could need and want. This unit has 180 degree views and is literally feet from the beach. The beach there is best for snorkeling, and a short walk from good swimming beaches. The location is one of the best in Akumal, which is tranquil and upscale. The staff was incredible—attentive, friendly and charming. We saw turtles in the waters outside the condo and had incredible meals in town. I would recommend this place to anyone. Thanks especially to Patricia who kept the condo clean with grace and ease. The view from your balcony and snorkeling in Half Moon Bay is second to none! My daughter was so excited to see her first octopus snorkeling one morming. Playa Caribe is truly magical and your unit is perfect in every way. We can't wait to go back to PC #5, the staff and amenities are first class.
Owner response:Thanks for the great review! We hope you can return to our little spot of paradise soon. GO TIGERS!!!

I treated my daughter, son and daughter-in-law, and myself to a week at Playa Caribe condominiums. Our only complaint was the week was just not enough time to enjoy all Half Moon Bay/Akumal had to offer. The staff was just wonderful. Agustin called to make all our arrangements because none of us spoke Spanish. We especially loved the spectacular view from our condo, a center unit. The center units have ocean views from all windows. We loved sitting on the deck watching the turtles pop their heads up for air. We plan to return and rent the condos on either side so we can share the experience with the whole family. The grandkids, now teenagers, will love it.

This was an incredible place to spend a week! Once my girlfriend and I got dropped off in front of the condo we didn't get into a car for the rest of the trip. The condo was perfectly situated for walking everywhere and the views off the bay-facing balcony were spectacular... a great vantage point from which to sip coffee and read each morning before heading down to the beach to snorkel among the coral formations and turtles or lounge under the palapas with a beer. I loved the style and decorations of the condo and the kitchen was fully and perfectly equipped for whipping up gourmet meals. It was peacefully quiet in the evenings and the rhythmic sounds of the ocean just outside and down from the bedroom window were great for falling asleep to after a long day of playing in the sun.

Our week-long stay at Playa Caribe #5 could not have been more perfect! Getting from the Cancun Airport to the condo was absolutely seamless, thanks to our driver, Domingo, who we hired at the owners' recommendation. From the moment we walked in the door, we were flat-out stunned. The beautifully decorated, spacious front room of the condo opens up to a second-floor deck overlooking the ocean. This is where we spent most of our time, sipping coffee in the morning, or wine in the evening, and watching the turtles as their little heads would pop up for a breath of fresh sea air. The bedrooms are spacious and private, and the kitchen is perhaps even more well-equipped than the one in my own home. After staying a couple of days, I was convinced that this was also the cleanest rental I had ever stayed in. My absolute favorite part of my vacation at Playa Caribe #5 was the snorkeling, access to which is directly in front of the condo. We snorkeled twice a day on most days, alternating between snorkeling and lounging under a palapa on the beach in front of the condo. We saw the most amazing sea life, including turtles, stingrays, eels, and countless brightly-colored tropical fish. We were even lucky enough to witness a nest of baby turtles hatching; it was just magical! The staff in the office were extremely friendly and helpful with directions and restaurant recommendations. On one of our final nights, we dined at La Lunita, a very romantic beachside restaurant, where we sat outside with our toes in the sand, sipped margaritas, and watched the sunset. The food was excellent, the ambiance dreamy. We can't wait to return to Akumal, and when we do, we will definitely stay at Playa Caribe #5, hopefully with a few of our friends next time.

We had a girl's adventure here at Playa Caribe #5. We felt safe in this building and in the whole area. In fact, we traveled down to Tulum by colectivo with no problems at all. Condo #5 is the center unit on the second floor. It was welcoming, comfortable and we felt very much at home. The kitchen was well stocked with all the utensils we needed. We appreciated being able to drink the water from the faucet. The whole condo was air conditioned, not just the bedrooms. There were books and games available. Also, a good selection of music. I learned to snorkel in the pool, then ventured out into Half Moon Bay. We saw eagle rays, turtles and too many fish to name. The water was so warm and comfortable! We enjoyed both of the restaurants right on HMB, just a short walk in the sand from the condo. Lucy's ice cream and shrimp tacos were a treat! Lots of good food to enjoy in the area. I am looking forward to returning to #5 with my husband next summer.

This was our third time to Akumal but our first time staying at Playa Caribe. It was a great, well-stocked unit with the best view in the building! When the air conditioning unit went out, the staff was right there to assist and gave us access to another unit (which was greatly appreciated for sleeping) while the repair was being made. The owner was very easy to work with and gave many great tips. This is by far one of the nicer condo complex in the area. Overall, another great trip to Akumal and we will go back!

"Wow" is what I said when we first walked in. Such a fantastic view of that beautiful turquoise ocean. The condo is very well equipped and the staff helpful and friendly. It was great being able to drink the water from the tap. Watching turtles pop their heads up while sitting on the balcony was so much fun. And even more fun to watch them while snorkeling. Having delicious restaurants a short walk away was very convenient. A nice condo and good location for a fabulous vacation.

My wife and I stayed at Playa Caribe #5for a week in 2008. It is perfectly maintained with a very helpful staff. The location of the rooms receive great breezes, while being above the very private beach. Food and shopping are close. Restaurants serve incedible variety and quality. Wildlife in the ocean is abundant and as easy to access as walking out your door. We had a great vacation.

Via email: Date: Sunday, April 06, 2008 Dear John and Annie, Thank you for making your Akumal condo available to Sue and I (Don). We were at your unit #5 Playa Caribe Condo March 2 through March 12, 2008. We had a wonderful visit and went snorkeling many times. This is our 3rd visit to Half Moon Bay (4th visit to Akumal). We really enjoyed the view from the balcony. I have attached a panorama photo that I took on March 3rd, 2008. I had a high-resolution print made that is 5 feet long that is now hanging in our family room. Best Regards, Don and Sue

This was posted on the Locogringo Forum: I was so so so very excited to see the post about P.C. #5. Annie, we loved it!! We stayed March29 to April05. The view is SPECTACULAR, saw turtles peeking their heads up frequently and rays , we think, swimming about!! We snorkeled half moon bay at least 2 days and thought it was great, a bit more wavey then Akumal bay, close by, where we saw turtles gallor, rays, barracuda, squid, etc.. I saw my first turtle snorkeling in front on the condo though. We also witnessed an AWESOME day of water spouts, I'll try photos later if I can figure this thing out. We loved the wave sounds all day, the wind at night can wake one up if you are not use to it. Augustine is the greatest and all the help too!!! Maid service is so great and the TV was up and working when we left. Loved the lay out with the bedrooms and showers/bath so beautifully tiled and spacious in my opinion. Balconies from both bedrooms and the dining area. We even grilled from the balcony one night, was great! The pepper grinder is not workin so great guys. Loved all the books about Mexico, the reef, etc. The bowl with vegies, fruit, chips, and salsa was a great greeting late at night too. The security is a good feeling. We did use the safe and liked that feature. You guys have a great place. Hope we can do it again next year and bring our daughters. Sandy

My wife and I have been traveling to Caribbean for the past twenty years. Our stay at Playa Carbe #5 rates at the top. The condo is perfectly located for privacy, with an outstanding view of the entire bay and walking distance to three beach restaurants. Having their fresh water supply is a plus.

We loved our stay at Playa Caribe. Being able to see the ocean from every room (even the shower!) was fantastic. The second story balcony in unit #5 was very private, yet overlooked the ocean so we could sit outside and reminisce about what we saw earlier in the day while snorkeling. A fabulous ‘front yard’ for snorkeling, and so convenient! We really appreciated the purified water too. The condo had everything we needed, so we were able to pack light. We can’t wait to go back. A word of caution: you won’t want to leave.

Bliss, is the first word that comes to mind. Next is, complete relaxation. Then comes...spotless accomodations, flawless service, friendly faces...and, did I mention, the sound of waves, the warm water, the hidden pleasures of the reef, the skin and hair rejuvenating in the moist air, the ease of getting out of bed and stepping onto the beach in one lazy motion...? I hope this happens to me again and again!
