Relax on Ono Island, a gated community near Gulf Shores, Alabama and Perdido Key, Florida.
This is the perfect place for a getaway with a gorgeous view of the bay (as opposed to a canal). Dine on the deck or watch for dolphins from the deck or pier. Fish from our pier, the beach, or on a deep-sea fishing vessel. Bring or rent your own boat, jet ski, sailboat or kayak as our bay is ideal for all water sports including swimming. Play tennis, or jog and bike on the Island paths. Take a brief drive to an Alabama or Florida crystal white beach-front park or a few miles further to the National Seashore. Visit local natural areas for wildlife watching. Feast on fresh seafood from nearby markets or restaurants. Or simply relax at our oasis and go nowhere at all!
All South facing rooms, including the great room have full window fronts for viewing the water. Three bedrooms and two baths are on the main floor. The fourth bedroom is at ground level with a private entrance and it's own bath, TV, phone and mini-fridge. Two of the bedrooms (1 up and 1 down) have twin beds which easily convert to kings with mattress-connector strips. Our laundry room has a second refrigerator to provide extra space for beverages, etc. We also have an outdoor hydraulic lift for use upon request for those who are physically unable to climb the stairs.

Why the Owner Chose Ono Island
Our parents knew that the small city of Gulf Shores would be changed forever after Hurricane Frederick, so the peacefulness of Ono Island seemed a great alternative to the high-rise world we knew was coming to the beach. And our folks chose our lot in particular because it is across from a Florida State Park, so we retain a view of an undeveloped area.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We love our bay view and dolphin visitors so very much and therefore spend a great deal of time on the deck just soaking up the scenery. We enjoy fishing, swimming and boating from our home and love going to the gorgeous nearby state parks for beach walking. Our location also makes it easy for us to get to excellent restaurants in both Alabama and Florida.

We are a family who grew up in Cullman Alabama, and now live in Nashville and New Orleans. For many years we vacationed annually at a dear friend's home on the beach at Gulf Shores. Our father bought a small house in Gulf Shores in 1975, but relocated to build on Ono Island in 1980 after losing our Gulf Shores house to Hurricane Frederick.

This is a great place .Its all you need for a great vacation, so many things to do the fishing is great,a great view,swiming from the dock,lots of sites to see.We had a great time and planning for next time.The owner is the greatest to work with and wants to make sure that your stay is the best.

What a way to spend your Christmas Holidays! Our family rented this wonderful, cozy home for our Christmas vacation and we were very pleased. The views are absolutely beautiful. It was a little too cold for us to enjoy any of the outside area but with warmer weather it would have been great. The kitchen is stocked with every pot, pan, dishes, utensils etc you could ever need. There was more than enough space for 6 of us to not be on top of each other and have our own little "haven" to get away to if we wanted to nap or just take a break. The owner could not be more accomodating. We are already looking forward to planning our next trip!

This was an unforgettable vacation because of our wonderful accommodations, great meals and side trips. This house is a treasure nestled on some of the most beautiful, breathtaking scenery--with crystal blue water, white sugar send, an island breeze to bathe in, and a "home away from home" tastefully appointed and so comfortable. Higlights for us included a trip to the quaint artist's haven town of Fairhope (take the scenic 98 drive); a tour of US Alabama, aircraft museum and submarine right across Mobile Bay; and a trip to Dauhin Island to visit the Estuary Exhibit, via a fantastic 45 minute ferry ride. The owners were easy to deal with and responsive to our needs and questions. We will be back without a doubt!

This house felt homey as soon as we walked in the door. The view is beautiful and the accommodations are spacious and comfortable. The dolphins were frequent visitors off the fishing dock and many a lovely afternoon was spent sitting on the outdoor deck watching the sunset. A large, friendly water bird patrolled the waters off the boat house and watched curiously as we fished. The living area has a breathtaking view of the water and the bedrooms are well furnished and cozy. There is even a separate downstairs bedroom that is private from the rest of the house. The owners are very friendly and accommodating and we came to feel more like friends instead of renters. The property was spotless when we arrived, the air conditioning was already on and the kitchen had every kind of pot, pan or utensil you could want. The owners even provide flashlights for walking to the dock at night and binoculars for bird and dolphin watching. Located only 10 miles from Pensacola, we were just a short drive from the world famous Flora-Bama bar, the National Museum of Naval Aviation and the historic Pensacola light. Going west, a short trip to Fort Morgan is a must for history buffs and Gulf Shores is just a short hop away. Fine or casual dining is available nearby, two well stocked supermarkets are close, and a beautiful swimming beach is within walking distance of the Ono Island gatehouse. We will definitely make this house our headquarters whenever we return to the Alabama Coast. We recommend the home and its wonderful owners without hesitation or reservation.

This place is perfect! The living room has an excellent view with tons of windows. The owner was VERY friendly and very easy to get in touch with. The price was great! We spent most of our time on the beautiful decks. Other rental houses on Ono were overpriced and hard to get in touch with the owner.

June Trip to Ono Island

We just returned from a week at this lovely home on Ono Island. I must say I have rented many homes through VRBO and this one is right at the top of my list. The view is spectacular, the home is beautiful, and the island is like a little oasis from the hustle and bustle of the area. The owners are wonderful people to work with and have thought of absolutely EVERYTHING to make your stay enjoyable. I have never stayed in a home or condo as well equipped as this one. If you bring your boat you can go to several great restaurants by water and the area directly in front of the house is perfect for tubing. Thank-you to the owners for sharing their wonderful home with us and I hope we can return.
