Location: Flamingo Beach, Guanacaste, Costa Rica, Central America (One Hour from Liberia International Airport) View Map
Accommodations: House, 4 Bedrooms + No additional sleeping rooms avail, 3.5 Baths (Sleeps 8)
Wake up to the sound of the surf and a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean. Stroll along the two miles of beach that at times seems almost private or just lounge by the pool. Or if you are more adventurous, take a few laps in the ocean before breakfast. Those are some of your options when you stay at Casa El Paraiso. Our house is located in the community of Surfside and is a 15 minute walk to the town of Flamingo and a much shorter walk to numerous stores and restaurants within blocks of this great house. Many Americans, Canadians and Europeans live in or visit this area frequently and we have it on good authority that a movie star in the Bourne Identity stayed there this year.
The house is only a few years old with all the amenities of a new home in the states including central air. The beach is only a hundred feet from the back door with a gentle and swimmer friendly surf. Two of the bedrooms look out on the ocean as does the living room and kitchen. The private pool is great for a cool refreshing dip or just to lounge around. If you enjoy watching wildlife, numerous species of birds and iguanas frequent the yard.
There are many great restaurants and bars within walking distance or a few minutes drive of the house. There is also some excellent shopping in Tamarindo and Flamingo, which are both a short drive. For those more adventurous there is zip lining, horse back riding, white water rafting, kayaking, diving, snorkeling and deep sea fishing only minutes from you. We especially enjoy the deep sea fishing. There are plenty of fish to be caught from the surf behind the house as well.
The sunsets are incredible in Costa Rica. One of our favorite things to do is to gaze at the seemingly endless Pacific Ocean listening to and watching the tide roll in while the the sky continuously changes from crimson to purple. Just when you think it can't be any more spectacular, it is. A cold Margarita or Cervaza enhance the experience as the cool ocean breezes blow.
Our maid and guard will try to accommodate your needs and if you experience problems or need assistance with activities or travel plans, our property manager can assist you.
We love vacationing there and look forward to sharing our house with you.

Why the Owner Chose Flamingo Beach
After visiting numerous tropical locations including the Florida Keys, Hawaii, Grand Cayman, Cozmel, Cancun and Belize, we came to Costa Rica and fell in love with the country and the people. The people are what make the difference as many places are beautiful with similar weather, but in Flamingo it all came together for us. We never get tired of visiting and maybe one day can spend the winters there.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Staying on the beach has it's rewards. Not only will the sound of the surf lull you to sleep, but you can walk in the sand anytime you like and the view of the Pacific is amazing. My hobby is fishing and there is some great fishing right off the beach or from a kayak that can be rented just down the beach. They also rent the fishing equipment and will help you learn how to catch the fish. If your thing is deep sea fishing, there isn't a better place to go than here in my opinion. Last trip out in July 2011, we caught 10 yellowfin tuna, 5 sailfish and 1 mahi mahi. We actually spotted around 40 sailfish on that one trip, many within a cast of the boat. My wife especially loves our back yard and private pool and the two of us spend countless hours there listening to music and reading while listening to the ocean surf. It is also fun to pick up shells on the beach or watch all the birds and iguanas in the back yard. Some months the butterflys are so thick you just can't believe how many can congregate in one place. The shrubbery in our yard seems to attract them. If you enjoy fresh food, the local fruit is incredible and the seafood is outstanding at almost any of the restaurants nearby. You can walk a few blocks to several very good restaurants or drive a few miles to others or you can do the cooking right there at the house if you are so inclined. You might even want to bring a chef in to prepare a meal or two for you at the house.
Zip line through the trees or view the zoo and butterfly garden

My family stayed here for a week over Christmas 2011. We had a fabulous time, and I loved waking up to the sound of waves crashing. We enjoyed the proximity to the beach, and to local restaurants that had excellent food. We took advantage of many adventures - going white water rafting, zip lining, horseback riding, ATV'ing and snorkeling. The help was fabulous and made our stay very enjoyable. I'd recommend this location to everyone.

Lovely house. Pure paradise! I will recommended to anyone. We were there in the end of september with another couple and 3 small kids and it was perfect, plenty of space. The beach safe and warm. The house was clean, the staff really nice and it was walking distance to food shop and restaurants. The air condition was noisy, but everything else was perfect!
Owner response:Thanks for your positive comments Silje. As for the noisy air conditioner, since your visit, we have had the A/C unit bearings replaced so hopefully that has quieted the unit down. The salt air is problematic with anything mechanical so we continually have to repair those sort of things, but we do our level best to keep the house in tip top shape. Russ

We stayed in this house in 2009 with our three children aged 9, 11 and 13 and my parents. The house has a great layout with two master suites, a roomy kitchen and beautiful pool and lawn. We had a great time fishing, horseback riding and kayaking. Nearby restaurants were fantastic-cooking up our catch of Mahi-mahi and also serving chicken fingers to the less adventurous in our group. Quaint restaurants are within walking distance or more formal dining options are a short drive away in Flamingo. The rental management company was very helpful and can arrange any type of excursion from fishing to zip-line!
Owner response:Actually John and his family are repeat customers for us having stayed with us first in 2009 and then just this year as well. To us, as owners, repeat customers are the best testiment to the kind of house we offer and the kind of experience our customers have while staying with us. Thanks John for your kind remarks. We were at the house in July for a week. June, July and August are some of our favorite months to enjoy Costa Rica. During that time we installed WiFi so there should be no future problems with access to the internet. There is now a safe for our guests to use as well. Also, we had one of our best fishing trips ever. We caught 10 Yellowfin Tuna (could have caught 40 if the captain would have let us), 5 sailfish and a mahi mahi. The fish were everywhere and the spinner dolphin were in abundance as well. We also saw a lot of turtles. All in all it was a fabulous day on the water. We brought home an ice chest full of tuna to help remind us of that great day on the ocean. We did experience an earthquake while there with a magnitude of 4.9. It is the second one we have felt while staying there over the past 6 years. Coming from Oklahoma, it is a new experience for us as we do not have any earthquakes that are large enough to feel in our state. The weather was perfect and our maid Angie and caretaker/guard Mino are keeping the house in beautiful shape.

We had 2 families staying here; 3 adults and 4 boys (ages 8-11) for Spring Break. The house was perfect for ALL of us! The owner of this house is awesome and extremely helpful with making plans for your trip; he made great recommendations for restaurants, zip-lining tours, etc. and we loved all that he mentioned! We did do a charter fishing trip, which was very expensive and we did not even get 1 bite!! This was a HUGE bummer for the boys, but the moms managed to enjoy a nice boat ride! I highly recommend this house for a large family or for 2 families. It turned out to be the perfect location for us; kind of secluded but walking distance to a small grocery store and several restaurants and right on the beach! The caretaker, Meno was super friendly and very helpful to us.

Our party of 4 arrived on Sunday and stayed until the following Monday. It was just a perfect setting with beautiful flowers, trees, a well manicured lawn and view of the water. The on site person, Meno and daily cleaning service from Angie was beyond belief. Both were readily at our call. We found your house extremely clean, beautifully decorated and conveniently located near several fun attractions for booking a fishing trip to taking an adventure to a near by resort for fun on the zip line, water slide, horse back riding followed by relaxing in the steam room, hot mud and warm mineral waters. We even ventured up to a nearby resort for a massage and pedicures. Additionally, there were so many terrific restaurants that served unbelievably delicious fresh seafood. It was for sure a trip this group will remember for life. The only negative that any one of us would have loved to change is the road...I think we lost weight from all the bouncing!

We stayed at this FABULOUS home from 1/18/10-1/25/10, with 2 other couples. To sum it up we had a BLAST!!! The house is exactly as described and shown in the pictures. (*with the exception that there is no true WI FI internet in the house, but you can occasionally pick it up from a local restaurant.) However, the home and area are beautiful and the staff working for the owners are EXCEPTIONAL! Everyone in our party felt the same. Thanks for sharing and we will be back. :o) Kathy and Mike Hayes West Bloomfield, MI

Our family, Dad, Mom, three teens (13-18 yrs. old) spent 10 wonderful days over 2009 Christmas holiday at this true Beachfront home. The weather was "hot" and a perfect 90*F temperature for us to lounge around the pool and play on the beach. The beach was great for walking and it was very quiet and relaxing. One of our favorite activities was to play in the calm and warm Pacific water directly in front of the house. In regards to the house, it was very spacious, comfortable, and nicely decorated. The kitchen was well stocked with everything necessary to cook a meal. Local people were friendly and the nearby restaurants were excellent. We felt very safe there with Mino, the caretaker living onsite. There is lots to do and see if you want to be adventurous. Erika, the local contact person was a terrific source of information, and, always willing to assist us with any matter. We thank the Kellers for allowing us to stay at their beautiful beach home. :) :)
