We are proud to present our cottage for rent in the Saugatuck/Douglas area where for 5 Generations our family has vacationed. We are still overwhelmed by the natural beauty and charm of this area rated by the New York Times as 5th best American beach town in the U.S.A.
If you are looking as a couple, as a group of friends, or as a family to gather for a single vacation or to gather year after year creating those cherished memories; look no further you have found Generations. Located within walking distance from Douglas Beach along the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan this phenomenal property sits in a beautifully landscaped setting. With its picturesque backdrop and expansive lawn, it is the perfect place for your family and friends to come together for a traditional barbeque and play volleyball, badminton, horseshoes, football, bachi ball, balloon toss, etc in the large private backyard.
Our cottage is accommodating in every respect. The kitchen/dining area is 24 x 24 and includes an island for meal preparation and additional seating. The kitchen opens to a large deck with a commercial grade barbeque and overlooks a yard where you can see deer and wild turkeys. The yard includes a hammock and covered swing for those lazy afternoons of napping or reading. The living area is adjacent to the sun room with windows for viewing the picturesque setting. Both the living room and sun room have sleepers for those extra guests. The bedrooms are separate from the living and dining areas so the adults can relax after the kids are in bed. The dormer provides a private place for the kids to play, watch TV, and sleep. The ranch style main floor with four bedrooms make it possible to include the grandparents in on this vacation. This cottage combines a great location, price, and size.

Why the Owner Chose Douglas
My great grandmother ran a resort in Saugatuck and Chicago to support my mom, aunt and uncle after my great granfathers sudden death. My granmother helped her mother at the resort and my mother was born in Saugatuck as a result. My grandmother loved the area so much she rented a cottage in Saugatuck every summer for a month so all her kids and grand kids would have a vacation every summer. My grandmother said "why would anybody go anywhere else"!!!
The Unique Benefits at this House
The Saugatuck/Douglas area is rated as one of the top beach towns in America. The area is simply beautiful and the beaches are great. There is something for everyone including shopping, theatre,golf,swimming, hiking, biking,site seeing etc. There are several art galleries and there are several great restaurants and night life for all ages.

My wife and I and our three sons have spent summer vacations in Saugatuck/Douglas since we've been married. Our sons and my nieces are the fifth generation to vacation in Saugatuck/Douglas. We can garantee you'll fall in love with the area and enjoy our cottage, Generations, peaceful setting and great location. The Saugatuck/Douglas area is a "must visit" on all travel guide recommendations.

We stayed at Generations for 2 weeks at the end of August. The house offers plenty of space (the kids loved the upstairs), a large dining table which is so rare to find, a well-equipped kitchen and a pleasant deck. We walked to the beach or rode bikes. Even on non-beach days there are plenty of things to do: old SS Kewatin ship museum, children's museum, pottery painting, orchards, dune rides, state parks, even a goat cheese farm -- all within 20 min drive. Both nearby Douglas and Saugatuck offer a wide selection of venues to eat and shop. The owners are flexible and very accommodating. We had a great time would definitely recommend the Generations house.

My friends and I enjoyed our stay here. Great big eat in kitchen for breakfast, and a deck and grill for grilling lunch and dinners. Nice big yard- a few mornings we spotted deer out back. It's a quick drive to the beach and downtown Saugatuck and Douglas.

What a great week - this a great place for a family vacation. Great kitchen, lots of space, close to the beach, close to town. Great for walking, bike riding, swimming, entertaining. The yard is super for games and kids. We will stay there again!
