Our family of 5 rented this historic house in March. We were looking for a house with plenty of space for our family to relax, an area with local places to eat and shop, and a safe town that our teenagers could navigate on their own and enjoy a little freedom. The house and location exceeded our expectations. The house is even nicer than the photos depict and it's very convenient for day trips. The owners were very helpful in making sure we had everything we needed for a great stay. I would recommend this house to families with children of all ages, extended families, several couples, a girls' weekend or anyone looking for a base to explore the beauty of the Eastern Shore.
Recommended for:Girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers.

This past July 2011, My family was lucky enough to rent this property from a local family in Chestertown for my son's wedding, the house could not have been better and made our family week more comfortable, beautiful house yet so very comfortable with space for young adults and older ones too...Plenty of bathrooms and areas ie the kitchen outside patio to have guest from other areas over. The house was just so wonderful, beds comfy, showers you want to take home and very easy to walk to all our venues, the church, the Fish Whistle and all the shops along with the Saturday Farmer's Market. A real treasure to come too in the future to visit all our new friends and to eat at our favorite new Restauants along with relaxing. Thank you this was a great place to share memories and friends and family

Perfect place to stay in charming Chestertown

We shared this home with two other couples when in Chestertown for a fall wedding. It was absolutely perfect! We each had a very comfortable and nicely appointed bedroom with our own private bathroom (one has two bathrooms!), separate temperature controls, and plenty of privacy. The convenient in-town location allowed us to walk to the church for the wedding and easily explore charming Chestertown. We enjoyed walking down to the river past cafes, shops, charming old homes, and historical markers then roaming through the farmer's market to pick up local produce, cheese and freshly baked bread so we could prepare our dinner in the gourmet kitchen and dine on the patio at the rear of the house on Sunday evening. As another reviewer noted, the house perfectly blends the old and new. We loved the beautifully decorated living and dining rooms with their antiques that fit the 300 year old structure and were equally enamored with the totally up-to-date kitchen in which every detail was considered. The family room off the kitchen was comfortable and the flat screen TV (tastefully hidden when not in view) appreciated by those who wanted to catch a little football on a lazy Sunday afternoon. If I had a student at George Washington I would definitely plan on staying here for graduation weekend or other campus visits. The owners, Cathie and Rob, are delightful gracious hosts who made sure that we had everything we needed to make the most of our stay. We cannot recommend this home highly enough and will definitely stay again should we reason to return to Chestertown!

If you're looking for perfection in a vacation rental in the center of Chestertown, look no further... If you're looking for comfort, style and first class amenities, look no further... If when closing your front door behind you'd enjoy a leisurely walk down High Street stopping at a festive Saturday Farmers' Market in the town square exploring art galleries, shops, historic homes and gardens on your way to a relaxing (and gourmet) lunch or dinner overlooking the Chester River, look no further... Charming hosts Cathie and Rob are a delight and have thought of everything to make this historic old house an inviting and comfortable retreat ---a place to which you will want to return. We look forward to our next visit to Highcroft.

We had the simply unbelievable good fortune to occupy Highcroft for my son's graduation week-end this spring. He and his friends arrived before we did. I called as we came across the Chester River, "How's the house?" "Nice," he said, "really nice." What an understatement! This magnificent circa house will enchant anyone with a love of such houses. Not only that but also the house has a more-than-modern extension in the back which encompasses a to-die for master suite upstairs (wait ‘til you see the bathrooms - his and hers, no less) and a superlative kitchen with adjacent rec room. Off the rec room is a lovely, lovely and very private patio. As if this weren't enough, the house is LEED certified! Highcroft is nothing but a one-of-a-kind property - the very best of the old and the new. The owners are one-of-a-kind owners, too, and marvelous hosts. They met our every need and gave us the introductory proud-owner tour. He is an architect, she a designer. Rightfully so, they are proud as can be of Highcroft. We hope you have the good fortune to spend some time in this remarkably beautiful home. You, too, will be wowed.
