This property was perfect in every way. The pictures give you a great idea of the property and are a perfect representation of what you should expect. The house is spacious and updated with a great Kitchen. There is a backyard patio built on top of the garage which is a nice outdoor place to hangout. We were amazed how quiet it was being so close to the action. You are 2 blocks from the Metro (Union Station). At Union Station you have any number of restaurant and food options. You are also able to easily get tours and information about what to do in the city. You are within 2 blocks of the Supermarket, coffee shop, and restaurants. You really can't beat the location. I would recommend this to everyone visiting the area, especially with the high hotel prices. This is much cheaper and more luxurious than a hotel room. Only downside is that you have to make the bed each morning :)

This house was the perfect spot for our family to spend our vacation in Washington D.C. We were able to travel everywhere with no problems. It was great to be so close to the metro yet it seemed so quiet as you turned the corner into the neighborhood. The best of both worlds. We also loved the house, the simple sophistication of the decoration mixed with all the great upgrades and modern amenities. Also with 4 kids the full size washer and dryer allowed for us to pack light. We can't say enough good things - you have found your place to stay in D.C., trust us!! Thanks again David.

David's house is wonderful. Stay and you won't be disappointed.Tastefully decorated to a high standard with all the home amenities you will need. The location is superb, a two minute walk to Union Station, local restaurants, a super bagel shop for breakfast, or the local coffee house. The area is residential, peaceful and quiet and after a hard day on the tourist trail it's lovely to come back to a home from home Washington Cathedral is beautiful, check it out if you get the chance. Ruth's Chris for steak was excellent as ever..and of course Martin's Tavern in Georgetown for a bite of lunch in between shopping. If you have a car parking is easy and David will sort out a local parking permit for you..we took a trip to Baltimore ..40 mins and another great day out...a week just isn't long enough Thoroughly recommended first class ....thankyou David ...and Lincoln

Every year, I take my grown kids & their spouses on a vacation by renting a spot thru VRBO. Must say this was our best vacation ever. The house was even better than expected & the kitchen was equipped with the top of the line gas stove so we cooked every evening. Being only a block from Union Station made catching the Metro a breeze. I will recommend your house to anyone going to Washington D.C. for a vacation, truly felt right at home when we walked in the door!

Capitol Hill Rowhouse

We stayed here in the middle of an historic heatwave for DC (mid-July), but the home was always a welcome reprieve. So convenient to Union Station and The Metro, and all the restaurants and food court of the Station, plus a very fun Capitol Bikeways bicycle rental on "our" side of the Station, which we used for a fun ride down the Mall and around the Tidal Basin on a day it hit 105 degrees! Fun restaurants in the neighborhood, walk to the US Capitol for your congressional tours, Library of Congress, the Supreme Court, board at Union Station for your evening open-top bus tour, etc.... David was a gracious host, we only wish we would have seen him more often so our boys could talk more with him about his career and experiences. It was also great to have a washer and dryer, we were going through so many clothes in the heat! We had a delightful time, and this home was part of it.

My wife and I along with another couple enjoyed our June stay at this beautiful home. The home is historic, well appointed and so very convenient. We literally traveled all over D.C. without ever driving a car or hailing a cab. The Metro is so close and convenient. This property is a lot of value for the money! If I have the option I will always stay here when I visit D.C.

Stayed here with some friends a few weeks ago and we found the place to be everything that was advertised and agree with the good reviews posted. We walked everywhere - Union Station is only a block away and a few blocks the other way are several good restaurants (highly recommend Cafe Berlin), a little market for any food needs, and a wine/beer store as well. The neighborhood was pleasant and quiet, and the owner, David, was very easy to work with. There's a deck out back that even in the summer is cool in the morning. Highly recommend this rental!

I jusst realized that I hadn't submitted a review. My wife and I and another couple spent a wonderful week touring DC. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and this home was one of the highlights. It is well appointed and so cozy. The proximity to the Mall and Union Station made touring around so much more convenient. We all commented on what a “find” it was for us to stumble on the house and the fact that it was available for this week. We intend to recommend it to our friends and will definitely look you up when travel back to DC in the future. David, thanks again for making us feel so welcome. Mike

A Second Visit

I just completed my second visit to David's townhouse, the visits being 2 years apart. This time I came with 2 other couples. We walked all over DC for 4 days, each day welcoming the return to David's comfortable place. We ate breakfast three days in the townhouse but Ebenezer's coffee was very handy! Three of the four nights we had carry-out for dinner, always ready to rest and relax instead of waiting to be seated in a restaurant. We tried. Bistro Italiano, Toscano's, Armand's Pizza, and Dangerously Delicious Pies! All were great. Thanks again, David, for another great visit. We hope to come again!

My husband, daughter and two cats were lucky enough to stay at this beautiful Washington DC home in February this year (I intended to write earlier but life got in the way). This home is everything you could want in a rental. First and foremost the home owner, David, was wonderful to deal with- helpful and reliable. One of the main reasons we will definitely rent here again is that dealing with David was such a great experience! Additionally, the location was an excellent base for getting around DC with its location within walking distance to the Capitol. As for the condition of the home, it is every bit as beautiful as the pictures show, and was an extremely comfortable spot to come back to at the end of each day. As a matter of fact, David's renovation of the row house was so well done, I may borrow some ideas when we renovate our master bath. Bottom line, you won't be sorry if you rent here! Thanks again, David for all of your help!

Best Place Ever

Our four person family stayed here in August, 2010. It was absolutely perfect. We have stayed in a number of VRBO homes all of the US. This is the best. Short walk from Union Station (don't bother taking a cab, as we did), several block walk to the Capitol. Delightfully appointed. Clean. Wonderfully restored old row house. David is a superb host. It will be our first choice when we return to DC.

This family of two adults and two teens agrees with all other reviews on, comfort, decor, cleanliness, local ... over all, a beautiful home. One visitor wrote in David's guest book that this home is a five star residence at a three star price. This is so true, considering it's three bedrooms, 2 1/2 top of the line baths, (2 incredible showers,) full gourmet kitchen and very quiet location. David was out of town during our stay, but still checked in with us to make sure all was well. Thank you David! Foodie Family recommendations: Founding Farmers (American organic gourmet ... owned by several area farmers. Foggy bottom area, $$$ ... make reservations several days in advance or prepare for a very long wait.) Good Eats Burgers (Capitol Hill, GREAT burgers, and BEST veggie burger ever. $)

This lovely rowhouse was the perfect setting for Our "Girls Weekend" in D.C. There is no better place to stay in DC than this residence! Stop searching VRBO right now and book it. Our vacation was one of the best ever and it is due in part to this wonderful home. As you will see in all of the other reviews, the home itself is immaculate and it can't possibly be in a better location. When you come to the end of a long day in DC the last thing you want to do is be cramped in a hotel room. After hoofing it to every monument, government building, and/or museum there is nothing better than having a beer or glass of wine, stretched out on the couch in the living room or cruising on the deck. If you book this place, enjoy the shower in the master bathroom. The house is kid friendly. We brought our three year old and the steps were a little steep for her but just keep an eye on your kids. Union Station is just around the corner and provides every kind of take out food you can think of. It also has a Metro stop, tourist buses, and rental cars. Also around the corner is a market for all the amenities (beer, wine, and coffee). The area is very safe. Its Capitol Hill and there is security on every corner. We can't say enough about David, the owner, and his trustee sidekick Marley. David had all the answers and helped make our stay one to remember. To sum it up this place will be our home away from home when visiting Washington DC. Thanks David and Marley.

Excellent Vacation Rental in Every Respect!

Three friends and I stayed in this exceptional row house for four nights in early March, 2010. It was everything we expected and more. The house has been beautifully renovated by its owner who just happens to live in the basement apartment beneath the house. There was no thought or money spared on creating a warm, sophisticated renovation of a classic Capitol Hill row house --- the photos do not do it justice. We found the house immaculately clean, well appointed and decorated, and in a prime location less than two blocks from Union Station and a leisurely 10-minute walk from The U.S. Capitol. The living room, dining room, and kitchen are all well-appointed and comfortable places to relax after a long day of sightseeing (or business in D.C.) The bedrooms are furnished with very comfortable beds and the bathrooms are ultra-modern and come with hotel-style soaps, shampoo, and fluffy white towels. After purchasing basic groceries at a well-stocked market/convenience store two blocks away, we were able to prepare all of our breakfasts and two of our dinners in the gourmet kitchen. Several balmy evenings, we enjoyed the large (20 foot x 20 foot) private elevated wood deck in the rear yard --- a quiet courtyard in the midst of a very busy city! The owner joined us for refreshments and conversation, and made us all feel very welcome to be there. Check-in and check-out was a breeze, and our security deposit was returned in a timely fashion. The house is perfect for a family of up to six or several couples and/or friends looking for a beautiful accommodation in a city known for its outrageously expensive hotels. If you are looking for great value, a comfortable and spacious home, and the perfect location in our nation's capital, this is the property for you. You will not be disappointed!

Because of the big blizzard in February that hit D.C. we didn’t get to stay at David’s, but I still want to give him a good review. Once it looked like there’d be no way for us to get down to D.C. I emailed David my concerns and he was sympathetic and understanding. He offered to let us choose other dates, but when I saw that there was no availability on the only other dates we could stay, David offered to refund our money in full. Not many people would do that without a hassle (and there are plenty of unscrupulous people who’d never refund your money at all). But David promptly mailed our refund back to us. I certainly hope we get to stay with him someday to thank him in person!

AWESOME :). We stayed for about 1.5 weeks in November. The location is great, close to Union station and not far from the capitol. Not always sure what to expect from the pictures on VRBO , but this place surpassed my expectation. It was very nicely remodeled with high end appliances. Dave was great and responsive to calls. I will definitely stay here again if we go back to DC. You can either walk to the sights or get on the train at union station . We returned our rental car ,public transportation was so close and convenient. I would highly reccomend this place to anyone staying in DC , especially if you have kids . It Was spacious and convenient. There is also a small store right at the corner of the block , which was nice :).

Two friends and I stayed at this beautiful house Oct 24-27, 2009 and it was so welcoming and comfortable. The pictures on the website almost look too good to be true, but they are very accurate. The house was clean, the beds are comfortable and it's decorated very tastefully. Since it's an old home (150 years I believe), it has loads of character but still all the modern amenities (great kitchen!) and a beautiful tree-shaded deck. The location is so convenient, literally a 10 minute walk to Union Station. We couldn't have asked for more and staying here made our vacation even more memorable. I would definitely stay here again.

A group of us, 5 female friends from different parts of the US, gathered in Washington DC in April and stayed 4 nights at David's townhouse. We couldn't have asked for a better place to relax, sleep, fix some meals, and walk to the metro and other nearby tourist locations. All furnishings, right down to the linens and kitchen supplies were more than adequate. The outside deck was a great spot for meals, desserts, wine, snacks, or just relaxing. David's hospitality was the best. I recommend this place to anyone who wants more than a hotel room for their time in Washington DC. I just hope there will be availability when I have an opportunity to return.

This house made our trip to DC perfect! It was great to come back to this lovely and spacious house to relax after many hours of sightseeing. The location is ideal with Union Station, the Capital and the Library of Congress all within walking distance. The house has everything you need and there are grocery stores, coffeehouses and restaurants within blocks! The house is beautifully remodeled and clean. Our kids (ages 13 and 16) enjoyed the visits from Marley out on the back deck. Thank you David for sharing your home with us!

David's home was the perfect launching pad for our trip to DC. My parents joined our family and the house suited our needs perfectly. IT was wonderful to be able to unwind after a long day seeing the sites in such a comnfortable well appointed home. David was an excellent host, offering accurate information prior to our visit as well as when we arrived. The deck was a perfect spot to relax or have some quiet time. The renovations were done with all of 'the best' appliances and newest materials with respect to the historic beauty of a row house. We LOVED staying at this house! The accommodations were SUPERB and Mr. Cooper is a gracious host as well. We truly enjoyed our stay and would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone looking to travel to DC! The house's decor was lovely... the artwork, furnishings, appliances, mouldings, etc., were stylish and classic. (Mr. Cooper’s renovation of this historic row house could be featured in House Beautiful magazine!) There were abundant supplies - towels, blankets, pans, dishes, spices, etc. The back deck was a lovely place to relax especially with the beautiful plantings. The bedrooms were very comfortable and we LOVED the rain shower in the master bath. We were very happy with the convenience of the location with respect to Union Station and The Mall and the neighborhood was very nice also. My husband and I, my parents, and our children truly loved the house - the kids are still asking "when can we go back to Mr. Cooper's house?" and I'm wondering how soon we can go back, too. I can't say enough about how much this house made our stay so enjoyable - we want to stay here every time we go to DC! You will LOVE this Home!!! My wife and I were looking for an alternative to a Hotel suite for a spring break alternative in D.C. I WILL NEVER STAY AT THE OMNI AGAIN...FOREVER!!!(and I love the Omni!) Mr. Cooper's property is thoghtfully appointed,beutifully decorated and was perfect for our family. The location is within easy walking distance of Capitol Hill and Union Station(metro stop). The local restaurants and grocery were exactly what was needed for a family away from home seeking local comforts. Mr. Cooper was so very attentive to my family's needs and questions. As the Chief of Staff to an elected leader, I was looking for comfortable lodging in a neighborhood close to the Capitol. In addition to myself, my boss brought his wife and their 4 month old baby. We wanted to maximize on his time in DC by setting up as many appointments as possible. At the same time, we wanted to be comfortable and have as many routines as possible around us. Making meals, washing clothes and walking thru the neighborhood made us feel more connected than if we were in a hotel. This house was priced right and fell within our combined per diem rate and it contained everything you could imagine. The house is also large and elegant and it was the perfect setting for us to conduct several business meetings, one of them over a home cooked dinner. Our host, David cooper was as kind and gracious as you could imagine. He woke up and kindly gave directions to my airport shuttle driver when I called at 2 am. We are looking forward to staying in the house every time we come back to DC and we highly recommend david's home and hospitality to other travelers in search of a home away from home.
