Wonderful Stay

Guest: Andrea D.
Date of Stay: 12/27/11 Review Submitted: 01/04/12

Hi Krista, I wanted to THANK YOU for everything and for staying up so late for our arrival on December 27th 2011. Also, I want to thank you for the Banana Bread, Coffee, Tea, OJ, Milk, Apples and the wonderful hospitality that you showed us. There were 5 of us that stayed at your basement apartment and not once did we run out of hot water for showers and such. This is a perfect place to stay outside of Manhattan if you're looking for peace and quiet. The subway station is about 3 blocks away and a 5 minute walk. We had a great time and highly recommend Krista's basement apartment for your New York stay. Thanks Krista!! Andrea & James

Lovely place! Decorated so cute and comfortable.

Guest: Heather (Atlanta, GA)
Date of Stay: 12/16/11 Review Submitted: 12/28/11

This place is so cute. And so comfortable. Loved the banana bread, coffee and juice left for us. The only two flaws was the shower has glass blocks at the end of the tub but are in the living room area, so if you are in the shower the people in the living room get live entertainment, but no worries, it can be avoided by turning off the bathroom light, the light that comes through the living room gives plenty of light in the shower and make it so no one can see in you can see out. Problem solved. Some of the lights didn't work, the lights in kitchen area didn't turn on even after using the switches. Overall, the place was magnificent! Love the coffee shop two blocks up and the organic grocery store. Slept so good every night and the upgrades really make you feel like you are at home. So clean. Really lovely! I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Owner response:Thank you Heather! I really appreciate your feedback. Great to know about the bathroom window. I'll install drapes, and you won't need to shower in the dark! Though I'm very impressed with your resourcefulness ;). I took care of the burned out light bulbs after you left, thanks for letting me know. So glad to hear you enjoyed the space. Happy holidays and I hope to see you in 2012! Best wishes, Krista

Staying here more than lived up to any expectations we had. Krista was always quick to get back to me, from the very first communication with her. The apartment is just as described and seemed far more spacious in person. Just about everything one would need is seen to. There are several great places to eat in the neighborhood (many found in the binder left for guests) and the train into the city is about a block away (in all actuality it's less than a city block). Everybody we encountered in the neighborhood was pleasant and we felt safe even coming back in the wee hours of the morning. I wouldn't think twice about recommending this property to another. No questions, my next visit I'd stay here. Oh, the banana bread mentioned in other posts, delicious! Thank you for everything Krista!

Gorgeous Apartment!!

Guest: Cherrelle (London)
Date of Stay: 08/24/10 Review Submitted: 06/19/11

Apologies Krista for taking so long to write this review! I stayed here with two girlfriends in August last year for two weeks. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! The apartment looks exactly as it does in the pictures and was very warm and welcoming and very clean. Krista was very helpful, and provided lots of information about the area and gave us subway maps. The neighbourhood where the apartment is situated is really nice. There's a fab pizza place round the corner and other useful amenities such as supermarkets etc. The subway station was less than 10 minutes away and was about a 20 minute ride into Manhattan which we didn't mind at all. I have already recommended this apartment to a friend who will be arriving next week, and am definitely planning another trip for 2012. Lastly, the Banana Bread Krista makes is so yummy :-) Thanks Krista!

Owner response:Hi Cherrelle! So great to hear from you. I'm very grateful for your comments. I hope I get to see you again soon! Krista

Macys parade 2010

Guest: Pete (Blue Springs, Mo )
Date of Stay: 11/22/10 Review Submitted: 12/06/10

As our 17 year old was in the Macys parade and staying with the band, my wife and I only had 3 of our 4 kids to lodge. Kristas place had more than enough room for the 5 of us and even if we would have had 6, it would not have been a problem. For our family, the value offered here was tremendous. It afforded us the funds to actually enjoy New York. After a day, the subway system was very easy and fun to navigate. The unlimited ride cards are the only way to go. The transaction with Krista was seamless. She was wonderful to deal with. Thanks for everything Krista! (The banana bread was great!!)

Owner response:Hi Pete, Thanks alot for your review! I'm very happy to hear the space suited your family, and that you enjoyed your vacation. Thanks for staying here. I hope to see you again! Krista

A place to come back to

Guest: Ulla, Thorsten and Ursula (Luebeck and Kiel/Germany)
Date of Stay: 10/31/10 Review Submitted: 11/16/10

The apartment was just like it looks in the internet. Very cosy and equipped with everything you need (except an acceptable kitchen knife *smile*). We felt at home right away and got used to the fact that it is located in the basement - so you don't get any daylight - pretty quickly. The subway station really is around the corner and even flying in to Newark Int. Airport it was no hassle getting there by train and subway. Krista was'nt there herself but her housekeeper Alice who gave us a very warm welcome and had baked the yummy bananabread that they are famous for amongst their visitors. From the first email contact Krista was very helpful and equipped us with a lot of information and even though she wasn't there for our arrival, she contacted us by email and asked if everything was ok. We had a great time at your place, Krista. THANK YOU!

Date of Stay: 10/13/10 Review Submitted: 10/26/10

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this apartment in Brooklyn. It was very easy to get to Manhattan on the subway system, which we bouth one week passes for. The apartment is exactly as described in the advertisements and was very warm and welcoming and very clean with plenty of fresh towels, good stock of shampoo and conditioner, bath lotions etc. There was also a welcoming loaf of banana bread which seems to be the trademark welcome of the owner and no wonder, it is delicious! There was also plenty of coffee and a selection of teas and a fresh carton of milk in the fridge too, along with some orange juice so all in all we were well looked after before we even began! There are many shops and restaurants down in Brooklyn Slope which is only a 10 minute stroll from the apartment and fewer locally but with a few minutes which was very handy. I would definitely recommend this apartment to visitors to NYC who dont want to spend all their spending money on a hotel in Manhattan!

Owner response:Hi Audrey! Thanks so much for your comments. I hope to see you again soon! Best wishes, Krista

Perfect stay 4fabulous fashion junkies who LOVE NY

Guest: Miss T (London)
Date of Stay: 04/29/10 Review Submitted: 09/03/10

I visited New York in April for my birthday and having been before and stayed in other apartments this is by far the best I have stayed in. Not only are the pictures exactly how the apartment appears in person, Krista is an amazing host. Before I had even boarded the plane in London we had communicated back and forth and she is a very pleasant person and I could already feel the generous hospitality. On arrival at the apartment I was pleased that it appeared as it did in the photos on here, if not even more appealing in person. Krista had also gone out of her way to bake some banana bread (which my friend and I loved...best I've had) which I thought was the sweetest thing ever. There was milk in the fridge as well as various items in the food cupboard which is just an example of her going out of her way. Clearly she is not just someone who rents out her property, she is the perfect host and even though she wasn't there in person, everything she did prior to our arrival at the apartment made us truly feel at home even more when we got there. It didn't end there. Having been to New York twice before I am still trying to visit various places and it was our first time in Brooklyn. Again, Krista had placed what I called 'The Brooklyn Bible' on a table in the living room with everything from internet access, train stations close by, churches, sites and parks to restaurants to name but a few. Complete with various flyers, leaflets and even a subway map. This was everything we needed to know about the area and made finding our way round there extremely easy. Most of all whenever we left the apartment there was that great feeling of knowing what we were coming back to. I am returning to New York in November and will no doubt be renting with Krista again. Her hospitality is second to none and she really knows how to make you feel welcome. There is nowhere else I would rather stay/rent in a home away from home. The only disadvantage being that she made coming back to London ever harder for us than usual :-). Thanks for such a fabulous stay and see you soon. xx

Lovely hideaway in Brooklyn

Guest: jillkaur (London, UK)
Date of Stay: 05/27/10 Review Submitted: 06/02/10

Krista is a great host - very responsive. The apartment is decorated lovely and is so cosy and after long days is like a haven! There are some lovely touches around the apartment such as bath goodies and moisturisers - everything you need is here even umbrellas! This is a great area to stay and there are a number of easy distance subways which take you all over New York. There is also some great places nearby - we spent lots of time in Brooklyn so don't be too hasty to venture to Manhattan - there are loads of great places to eat around Brooklyn. We will come back and would never stay anywhere but Brooklyn - the people here are just so friendly. I would definitely recommend this property - 4 of us stayed here and it was great. Thanks to David and Krista - see you next time!!

Owner response:Thanks so much for your comments Jill! It was great to meet you, and I hope to see you again very soon. Best wishes, Krista
