Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2005

I am a business owner and enjoy to travel alot. I am an avid runner and these country roads surrounding the house are fantastic for running, biking and trecking. This house is fantastic for my child and your children to enjoy nature. I am a dog owner and my house is pet friendly providing of course the owner is responsible with thier dog and observe rules and common sense.

Why the Owner Chose Bastad

I am a native of Sweden and have choosen this location for my second house due to the beautiful views and nature in addition to all the area has to offer. It is also most convenient to Copenhagen airport by train or car. There are many local area attraction and events which makes this one of Swedens most popular (and expensive) area for vacationing to have a second home. The occupancy in the area more than triples in season. My family lives nearby.

The Unique Benefits of this House

The location of the house is less than 10 minutes to nearest grocery store, green market and bucher shop and cafe. The two main towns Bastad and Torekov is only a 15 minute drive. My house has a very large back yard perfect for outdoor activities. There is a bus stop 2 minute walk from the house with approx 3-4 daily transports to the towns. However to fully enjoy the area a car is strongly reccommended. The most amazing time of the day is sitting with a glass of wine in the yard watching the sun set in the ocean. In the mornings looking out over the fields while drinking coffee seeing deer sprint through the fields and cows grazing in the pasture.

Summer 2011

The house is in a wonderful central location. Just outside Bastad in Hov, where it's quiet and relaxing. The view from the upstairs master bedroom is breathtaking. We enjoyed the beaches as well as the fun local food nearby. My husband was intrigued by the cows next door - he's such a city boy. There were a lot of "cow updates." Bodil was easy to work with and very flexible when we asked to come a day early. She called to check on us and the house because of a hail storm while we were there. All was well. We found the bathroom to be a bit tricky with three small kids.

relaxing swedish countryside cottage

This quaint typically Swedish home in the countryside allowed us a peaceful spot to spend while visiting relatives. We walked to the ocean, bought produce and honey from the local farmers and even went in to Bostad to eat at a pizzeria. We enjoyed the neighborhood cows and the Hov church. The home had everything we needed....a recent purchase of a TV was enjoyed by our teenage children. We would definitely recommend this lovely place.

Owner response:I am so glad you enjoyed!

Our family spent a most enjoyable week in this charming country home. We all went fishing, hiking, and crabbing. We enjoyed delicious meals in quaint restaurants at the near-by fishing village. The house was delightful it was comfortable and had a perfect view of the ocean which also cradled the sunsets. The location is perfectly centered between the fishing village,Turakov, and the town of Bastad. I highly recommend this to anybody who wants a relaxing home away from home.

We stayed at this house for 3 days and were sad to leave. It was very comfortable and spacious. The view from the house and surrounding area was spectacular. The location made it easy for us to explore the lovely towns of Bastad and Torekov. I would recommend this house to those looking for a clean, comfortable place to stay while exploring this extreamly beautiful country side. Bring your camera!

Owner response:Dear K - I am so glad you enjoyed your stay!! Dream Holiday in Sweden

Guest: Randy & Beverly (Greeley, Colorado, USA)
Date of Stay: 09/04/10 Review Submitted: 09/18/10

This property is in a perfect location in southern Sweden, to be used as a base for daily travels through a very beautiful area. The owner of the home is very easy to communicate with, and provides information very quickly. The rental agreement was concise and easy to understand. The home was as described; VERY comfortable, clean, and it had everything that we needed. The bedrooms each have fantastic views of the farmland. The home has been remodeled and the interior decorations are very pleasing to the eye, and comfortable. We did not have to use the heating system as the all the walls appear to have super insulation and kept us quite comfortable. The beds are very comfortable, too. For those of you not familiar with how household waste is handled in small communities, directions for the separation of different types of trash are provided, and the different bins are labeled. The property is well-maintained, and there is a large church and graveyard directly behind the property that you can reach by using a path. The graveyard is interesting to walk through, and you can get an idea of the people who settled the area. We were able to travel to Torekov, Kattvik, Bastad, Hallavera, Angelholm, Laholm, Mellbystrand, and Halmstad. We went to a stained glass gallery, JoelGlas, and met and talked with the very talented artist, Joel. Don't miss going to the Café Killerod in Killerod. The food and fresh bakery items are fantastic, and the view from the open terrace that is shielded from the wind is tremendous. The home is situated about 2 km from a fantastic deli/meat market and a general store. Groceries for your relaxing stay in this home are available from two ICA grocery stores in Bastad. We would recommend this property to anyone who desires a totally relaxing and comfortable holiday experience in Sweden.

We were fortunate to spend a long weekend in this delightful cottage. It has everything you would need and it will seem like it is your own little Swedish getaway cottage after a couple of days. There is everything you could possibly want right at your fingertips. Great view and great location as it's close to everything in town and in the countryside. Do yourself a favor and spend a week or so in this beautiful cottage in one of the nicest areas of Sweden.
