Renovated 2010 3BR/3BA 300 Ocean Mile Townhouse
Year Purchased: 2008
Why the Owner Chose East End
We bought this townhome because of the seclusion and just downright serenity of the island.
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome
We have everything we need and more here. Unlimited sun and fun with just the right amount of food choices so that the girls don't need to cook. Also, the beach is so close you can stay as long as you like and still be seconds from the room. If you've got pets that are members of the family, they can come too.
Owner's Map of East End
We are in the transportation business and deal with both domestic and international customers. We bought this home last year (2008) and spend ALOT of time there. We love to fish offf the beach and bridge and take our boat offshore to hook one of the abundant grouper, snapper, amberjack & tuna. Sometimes we wonder who caught who.

We had a wonderful month long vacation on the island. The unit was really alot larger than what we needed but we really enjoyed the extra room. The unit was VERY well appointed and when the owner says they have a well stocked kitchen they really mean it. Everything you need to prepair whatever you want. All of the decor was super. We really enjoyed the board games and tv's. The unit was really clean and tastefully done. The weather was wonderful and the beaches all but abandoned. It was like having it to ourselves. I'll definitely be back and will stay here again.

I was excited about getting to Saint George Island, having never stayed there before. Needless to say I was not disappointed. The townhouse was furnished beautifully (I especially enjoyed the big screen plasma's in the bedroom. The pool was conviently accesable and the the wife and kids (teenagers) maxed out their time at the beach and pool. We lounged on the beach all day and ate great seafood at the Owl Cafe in Apalachicola at night. We found the area and residents to be some of the most friendly and gracious on the panhandle. All in all, we had a GREAT time and the townhouse was FIRST CLASS in every way. Thanks making your home available to us.
Owner response:We are certainly glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you decide to return to our home again. If there is anyhting we can do now or in the future please let us know. It's always nice to hear the kind words from our guests, It makes everything worth the effort.

I was expecting a little more from the property, it was not as clean as I had hoped. While in I am a hotel snob, I thought the mold on the A/C registers was an issue and it smelled musty with a little urine smell. The management company was not very helpful, we received one towel per person for an entire week. I called to request more but they said that was all they gave. A little disappointed. I will go back to St. George, but will pay more and stay at a nicer place with a different mgmt company. I would guess they are on a tight budget and we really did not pay that much for the condo, which the old saying applies, you get what you pay for. Also, we had to take my mothers dog and finding a dog friendly/budget place was a challenge (maybe that was the reason for the smell) I do think the owners had updated the property nicely with new tile baths, vanities, etc, but I think it was more the age of the property, sometimes there is nothing you can do with an older beach property.
Owner response:It' is unfortunate that you were so displeased by your stay. I wish you had contacted someone to let them know your concerns. We are ready, willing & able to address those concerns should you decide to visit again. I don't understand the "tight budget" comment. Everyhting is as new and nice as is practical. All the showers and baths have been completetly renovated down to the very shell. Alltghe furniture is SOLID wood and new. I just don't know what else we could have provided or done. Again, thanks for staying at our home and we enjoyed having you.

We loved the decor and furnishings, especially the master bed and bath. It is so quiet upstairs, it was really a nice retreat. After staying in other vacation rentals, I also greatly appreciated the well-stocked kitchen. (It was so well stocked that we couldn't find a cabinet available to store our food, however). The beach is a short walk away and the pool is right outside. All in all it was a lovely vacation. BUT, there were some cleanliness issues. One, there were roaches. Not dozens of them, but enough. Maybe this was due to the renovations happening in the condo next door, but opening a drawer in the kitchen to find a roach crawling around was a little disheartening. We also found them in the downstairs bathroom and near the entry door. Also, the dishes weren't super clean. I found two wine glasses with mouth prints on them (they wiped off easily) and utensils with caked on food. After seeing those things and knowing there were bugs crawling around in there, I found it necessary to wash each dish before we used them. There was also an issue with pet hair. Maybe this is to be expected in a place that is pet friendly, but I would expect a vacation condo to be at least as clean as my own pet friendly home. There were black dog hairs here and there in the bedding (our dog is white) and while my children were enjoying the board games beneath the living room TV, we found A LOT of the same black dog hair in the boxes of those games. I think this is a wonderful spot and you have done a fantastic job keeping it updated and fresh, but I do think you might have some issues to discuss with the company that is in charge of your cleaning and maintenance. As is, I would not stay there again. Also, one note for anyone who might be traveling with small children... all of the bathrooms are equipped with showers only - no bathtubs. That was a bit of a challenge for us, but nothing we couldn't overcome.
Owner response:Although I understand that cleanliness is ALWAYS an issue when people stay in hotel's, motel's, condo's & townhoues. You always want things to be , at the very least, neat clean & in order. We work very hard, as does our management company, to satify the needs of our guests. However, we don't and can't always surpass the expectations of some of our more critical guests. The townhouse was COMPLETELY redecorated in late 2009 with all NEW furnishings and decorations including paint. We have the home professionally cleaned after EVERY guest leaves and before someone else arrives. Everyting is cleaned and sanitized throughly. We stand willing to take care of ALL our guests needs now and in the future. However, as hard as we try (and it is substantial) unfortunately, some guests don't feel we do enough. All we can do is all we can do.

We certainly enjoyed our stay at this luxury town home. Our stay was very relaxing, the beach beautiful and the area is still 'Old Florida". I will recommend it to all my friends and I will certainly be back.
