We had a wonderful stay at Casa Blanca in Playa Portrero in April of 2013. The house is well equipped and very clean and has a full kitchen for those who like to cook while on vacation. The pool in the backyard is perfect for a quick cool off or for a relaxing swim. The house is close to many amazing beaches where you can swim, surf, or just relax. We found everything we needed right in the area as well, including a fantastic fruit and veg stand just down the road from the house where they sold great produce for not much! Other staples are easily found at the local Super in Flamingo. The property management company was also fantastic with anything we needed and they are a great resource for information about local restaurants and whatever else you're looking for. We definitely recommend Casa Blanca for a Costa Rica adventure!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We came down during my kids April vacation. We had three teenagers and my husband and myself. We all felt very comfortable. We were able to go to a different beach each day we were there. The kitchen has all the appliances that you need so that we were able to cook at home, plus amazing restaurants within 5 minutes of the house. Property management was most helpful-giving us directions and recommendations on where to go. Beaches were very private and almost deserted. The pool was great to dip in-and the wi-fi was necessary (esp. with three teens!) Washer and dryer were also really helpful. I highly recommend this house. We had an amazing time.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Wow, what a great trip and place to stay!! The house was clean, comfortable, well stocked and had a nice big bathroom. It even had WiFi for those who want to check in to reality. However, you really should just sit back and relax and enjoy this amazing location. We were a five minute drive to spectacular beaches, local restaurants and markets. Ah, the beaches, miles of beaches, and hardly a sole on them. The food has great, fresh fish, fresh fruits and local flavor. It was awesome to come back from dinner and take a dip in the pool before bed. Thanks for sharing your house. I will definitely come back!!Did you find this review helpful? Casa Blanca is an extremely well-equipped home in a very convenient location. Having the swimming pool available is perfect for relaxing around the house, but there are many adventurous activities very close at hand! The beaches are beautiful and quiet and there are so many within a very short drive. The local cuisine is amazing....so fresh, unique and satisfying! Having a car is helpful to take advantage of seeing more of the area during day trips or overnights. The Arenal Volcano area is a MUST see!Did you find this review helpful? We had a lovely time in Costa Rica and enjoyed the Casa Blanca. A lovely community surrounding us, with fresh food from the local markets, friendly faces, and luxurious beaches. We especially enjoyed our day trips to the volcanic national parks. Fun!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our 8 day stay at Casa Blanca. It came exactly as advertised - very well maintained, cozy, and a great base from which to explore the various beaches and towns nearby. The owners were there to meet any of our needs which really were none to speak of. If you like to explore little nooks and crannies of a few not-so-well-known but gorgeous beaches there are a number in the area. We particularly liked one which we reached after a steep climb through some forest where we saw a mother and child Howler monkeys and then watched as hundreds of crabs made their meticulous march on the beach as we carefully stepped between them to enjoy our completely private swim in the sea. Just a little bit of heaven! Our first night was spent at the local watering hole right within Surfside Estates where the karaoke reigned supreme. I believe it was called Sam's. And each day as we might be having a coffee or something stronger on the back patio there was this particular neighborhood dog that would appear out of nowhere and casually descend 2 steps into the pool where he would lie down just long enough to refresh himself and then with a wag of his tail off he'd go to his next adventure. Yes, the natives are indeed friendly. One thing though, you really need a car to get around. The nearest town of Portrero is quiet as far as nightlife goes. For that, try Tamarindo, a short drive away.Owner response: Owner confirmed with reviewer that he and his wife found the neighbors dog to be quite charming. "The dog was friendly and seemed to appreciate even the slightest bit of attention paid to him." Thanks again for your feedback and choosing Casa Blanca. We appreciate your business.

I spent a week at Casa Blanca with my two daughters, ages 19 and 21, and it was the best vacation ever! We all loved the house and the peaceful location. There were a lot of animal noises (especially frogs) during the night, but that made it even more charming. Potrero Beach was a 10-15 min. walk away and by far our favorite place. Since it was off-season we had the beach to ourselves and it was lovely. A great place for swimming! All the locals were exceptionally friendly and the local restaurants were really good. The store had the essentials we needed, but if staying longer than a week, I would recommend renting a car for a day and drive to a larger store and stock up. The wireless internet was very spotty. We were told that's very common during the rainy season. Also, the DVD player didn't work... (so we couldn't do our workouts... but I sure didn't mind that!). For young people wanting more action, they might get a little bored in Potrero, but my daughters absolutely loved it. They especially liked speaking Spanish with the locals. We did one excursion to Buena Vista (arranged through Lent Eckhart Properties) and that satisfied our need for adventure. All in all, this was our dream vacation. A beautiful house, very few tourists, warm weather, swimming in the ocean, a pool to cool off in and lots of wildlife. I can't wait to go back!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

My wife and I stayed in Casa Blanca during the week of March 26, 2011. It was the perfect place for us and we highly recommend Casa Blanca for your future stay. I wouldn't call Casa Blanca a luxury property, but if you're looking for a nice place that is clean, quiet and equipped with everything you need for a "base of operations" to explore Costa Rica, Casa Blanca is it. The house has a really nice homey feel to it. Great pool, two nice sized bedrooms with storage. a nice living room and a great little kitchen that overlooks the pool. There is a coffee maker, blender and all the appliances you need sans dishwasher. The bathroom has a supersized shower. The real treat is the surrounding community. Potrero is the "real deal". It's not a tourist mecca, but there are some great restaurants, good beaches, (Plya Pinca!) and it's well located to go to many other destinations. You have to go to Rin con de la Vija. It's about 1-1/2 hours back past the airport at Liberia. Get the full day "adventure pass": horseback riding, zip lining, whitewater tubing, volcanic mud bath, lunch, all in one day! Or hit "Lola's de Norte" about 4 kilometers up the coast from Potrero for lunch on the beach or go to "Palacia del Sol" in Potrero for a really spectacular dinner and view! And how could I forget "Las Brisas". Potrero's beach-front local hang out and wi-fi hotspot. Great margaritas! So, Casa Blanca is the place to be! Rent it before we do again...Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I have stayed at Casa Blanca three different times. Casa Blanca is located in the Surfside Estates plan in Playa Potrero. We love it! The house is on a quiet street within walking distance to several restaurants, markets, entertainment, and Playa Potrero. The home is fully furnished with a beautiful pool. The Guanacaste trees in the backyard are full of wildlife. We've sat poolside and watched many species or birds, monkey troops, iguanas, and the occasional wondering cow. The home is safe and secure, Surfside has it's own security staff that patrols the area at night. The food in and around Potrero is phenomenal. Some of the best fruit, vegetables, seafood, and chicken can be found in any of the restaurants or markets (don't miss the farmer's market at La Perla's on Thursdays). My wife and I have cooked at Casa Blanca to save money and take advantage of the fine fresh food available at the local markets. The kitchen well stocked with plenty of counter space. The only thing missing is a microwave oven, but they aren't very common in Costa Rica and you tend to eat all that good food anyway. Playa Potrero is a quiet beach. The beachfront is mostly 4 to 6 unit condominiums that don't overburden the landscape. LasBrisas, a local joint with out of this world food is on the north end of the beach, the South end is home to the Flamingo marina where most boats in the area moor and where you can find guides to take you snorkeling, diving, fishing, site-seeing, or surfing. If you need anything while you stay in Potrero. check out Claudia's Bike and tour rentals in Flamingo. Claudia will make it happen and she's a sweet lady.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Casa Blanca was the perfect place to stay when I went to Costa Rica March 13-20, 2010. This house has all the amenities. Two large bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with 2 twin beds. Although it had been a while since I'd slept in a twin bed, this one was equipped with an extra thick mattress making it seem much bigger and very comfortable. There is a very large closet which held all my clothes as well as extra linens for the bed. The other bedroom has a sliding glass door that opens onto the lovely patio and pool. I enjoyed my mornings in Costa Rica sitting by the pool with my coffee and watching the colorful birds and other wildlife. I found the pool refreshing both day and night. Another thing that I enjoy when I'm traveling is a good shower, and Casa Blanca offers one I'd like to copy at home. The wall of the shower is constructed of glass block allowing the shower to be large and airy. The kitchen is big with a nice eat at bar and another space with a table and chairs for more formal group dining. The separate bodega has a washer and dryer as well as a gas grill for cooking. There was truly nothing that I thought I needed that wasn't included in the house. The short distance to the airport, car rentals, beaches, and great restaurants made staying at Casa Blanca even more perfect! I can't wait to go back to Costa Rica and Casa Blanca!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, pet owners, sightseeing.

My two friends and I had an excellent stay at Casa Blanca during the first week of March 2010. The house had everything we needed, refrigerator, stove, coffeemaker and AC. We only needed a place to sleep, get clean, and relax in the mornings, and Casa Blanca fit the bill perfectly. The rental went great and we even had visits from the little dogs next door, some little geckos, and a giant grasshopper on the wall outside one morning. The only issue we had was flipping a coin to see who got the Queen bed and who got the twins... fortunately for me, I won! We would definitely recommend Playa Potrero over some of the other beach communities we visited on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. It was a quiet town with plenty of good food in walking distance (we spent several nights at the Shack and Las Brisas), and located in easy driving distance to the other nearby beaches as well as long, but easy, trips to Monteverde, Rincon, and other tourist-y destinations. Other beach towns definitely had more nightlife, and we found we liked driving there to see the sights, and then waking up in quiet little Potrero in the morning. We'll be back!!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
