Our Living Room (note: TV now upgraded to 60-inch High-Def Sony)
Location: Brooklyn, New York City, New York, USA (Half-Block to Prospect Park, 2 Blocks to Subway, Great Shops) View Map
Accommodations: Condominium, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 6)
We have a large (for NY standards - over 1500 square feet) three bedroom, two bath condo on a beautiful, tree-lined block of classic, turn-of-the-century brownstones and limestones.
The condo was completely renovated four years ago and is very nicely decorated. It is located in the heart of (in our opinion) Brooklyn's prettiest and most interesting neighborhood, Park Slope. We are a half-block from Prospect Park. Frederick Law Olmstead, who also designed Manhattan's Central Park, considered this park his masterpiece. Enjoy boating on the lake (or the ice skating rink in the winter), great hiking/running/biking areas, people-watching on Long Meadow, and other good fun. We are also walking distance to the Brooklyn Museum, Botanic Gardens, Zoo, Farmer's Market (seasonal), and all the great shops and restaurants of Park Slope.
Our condo is very kid-friendly as we have a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old. The condo includes a living room (with a 60-inch high-definition TV), fully-stocked kitchen, dining room, master bedroom with private bath, guest bedroom/kids playroom (with pull-out couch - we have a nice featherbed topper), kids room (two cribs in there), and alcove. Four people sleep easily in the master bedroom and guest room. Little ones can use the cribs and extra big people can sleep on the couch (very big and nice) or on a inflatable bed in the alcove (though that's not too private) or kids bedroom.
We also enjoy one of New York's best features (especially when you are on vacation): amazing take-out. We have a deep take-out menu collection and a host of guide books to help make your trip easy. The condo is two blocks from a great subway (the F, which will take you to the West Village in 20 minutes and Rockefeller Center/Central Park in 30), and we are walking distance to several other subway lines.
Brooklyn in general and Park Slope in particular has a friendly, laid back, relaxed feel that makes it the perfect complement to the constant motion of Manhattan. Enjoy the city that never sleeps ... and then come back to a sleepy, gorgeous block to recharge your batteries.

Why the Owner Chose Brooklyn
We love Brooklyn, and Park Slope is our favorite neighborhood within Brooklyn.
The Unique Benefits at this Condominium
The three best things about our apartment: 1) The neighborhood - Park Slope has awesome shops, restaurants, coffee shops, etc. ... 2) Prospect Park - many New Yorkers think that the park is BETTER than Manhattan's Central Park, and we agree ... 3) The apartment itself - by NY standards, it's large ... and it is nicely appointed and cozy (big couch, big-screen TV, master bedroom suite).
Great collection of Rodin sculptures, Egytpian art, etc. in a GORGEOUS building.
All along 7th Avenue are great shops, restaurants, coffee shops, etc.
15 minutes to Manhattan ... 20 to Greenwich Village ... 30 to Times Square
Movie theater showing first-run movies on multiple screens.

My wife and I are both educators. We are both origninally from North Carolina. I run a network of charter schools, and my wife does curriculum and professional development for a group of high schools for recent immigrants.
We have two boys, ages 3 and 1. We are relaxed, easy-to-deal-with people.
