Very Nice Cabin With Great Location!

The cabin was very clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. The shower enclosure does have rust in it, but it's clean and has good water pressure. Sandy beach, nice swimming area and very quiet. We enjoyed using the Kayak, and the fire ring and patio got used quite a bit! The hide-a-beds were a bit uncomfortable at first, until my daughter discovered that, if you switch yourself around, and sleep with your head towards the "foot", then the beds are actually quite comfortable. The master bedroom is small but comfortable and the space is adequate for sleeping. There is also a huge armoir in the master bedroom for clothes, and drawers under the bed, along with several hooks on the walls to hang things. There were beach toys for the kids to play with, and with the free WiFi, we were able to bring our Wii for games and connect to our Netflix account for streaming video. I was impressed with the dish ware - everything matched and was of decent quality, as were the bath towels. We live fairly close to this cabin, so my kids each drove their own vehicles. The boat was adequate for fishing, but if I rent here again, I think I would bring a larger, faster boat for entertainment purposes (it would be great if the owners had a larger or different type of boat to rent for an additional fee). We also figured out the cause of the "musty smell" the other reviewer spoke of - it was a simple leak in the plumbing in the laundry room. The Mehrs brought in a dehumidifier and called a plumber, and the problem was fixed. Their response to us was prompt and they were very pleasant. The neighbors are also very nice. It is a well kept area and most of the surrounding cabins are owner occupied. Having two levels in the cabin was also a plus - we could have a quiet area for those who need some nap time, while others could socialize on the other level. There was NO mold in this cabin, and the musty smell is gone with the plumbing fix. I didn't see any spiders either. The price was quite reasonable; I have rented cabins at resorts for more money and the cabins were not half as nice as this one. I would not hesitate to rent this cabin again, and I would recommend it to friends and relatives.

Our family of 4 just finished our vacation at this great lake home. We swam every day, grilled each night and took the kayak out on the lake. This lake house was perfect for us. Mom and Dad slept upstairs and watched an evening moving or had a cup of tea in the upstairs family room with a view of the lake. The two girls had their own space downstairs, including beds and their own TV. We really enjoyed having access to the Internet, as well. It was great to bring our dogs. The large dog loves to swim, she was in the lake with us all the time. The lake is so peaceful and quiet with great neighbors. What a great spot!

We enjoyed our stay at this lake cabin. We appreciated all the water toys provided (including a small motor for the fishing boat), plus internet access. We had people from 4 years old to 85 come to stay or visit and all enjoyed their time here. The younger children loved the sand, water, dock fishing, and large flat lawn to play on. We also appreciate being able to bring our dog along. They owners responded quickly when we had questions about the washing machine and boat motor. They were very helpful and accommodating. We gave this cabin an "excellent" rating (keeping in mind that it is a cabin and not a fancy resort!) because it was clean, comfortable, it had extras (like the boat motor, the dog being able to come, the internet connection), everything was in working order, the owners were friendly, and it was a relaxing vacation for us.

Dear Mehrs, Thank you for the great 2 weeks! We enjoyed the cabin, the lake & the outdoor "toys" (boat, kayak, sand, canoe, etc.) We definately gave the oars a workout, so thanks for bringing those! I left the brochures - we appreciated them and got to some local events. I put the recycling out - they were mostly full when we got here. We would like to rebook the same two weeks for next year. Thank you & have a great summer & fall.

The property was described in the ad as a “Very clean cabin.” When we entered the "cabin" we could smell a strong odor of MOLD. We tried running the air conditioning to get rid of the smell, but it didn’t help. We then started getting headaches and opened up all of the windows. The next day my parents gave us two air cleaners, which helped but it wasn’t enough. Finally, on the third day we left. We just couldn’t take it any longer and we were afraid our health would suffer. We called the owners on Saturday, about smelling gas, when they came over to make sure everything was okay, we asked them about the mold smell, both said they couldn’t smell mold. This was an out right lie. The mold smell was so bad, my sister, who was supposed to stay with us at the "cabin" refused to because of the strong mold smell. My husband and I also spent hours cleaning this place, because it was not clean. A dirty rag hung from the kitchen faucet when we arrived. I found finger nail clippings around the top of the kitchen sink. The dish rack was filthy. All of the faucets were dirty. Even the silverware drawer had dirt in it. The bathroom sink has a large rust spot and the bathroom faucet was corroded with even more rust. The bathroom shower was one massive rust stain and the toilet had urine around its base. The over head fan was so filthy I just left it as is, I just couldn’t clean any more. Every corner in the "cabin" was left dirty and that is where I found spiders living, I killed at least 10-15 spiders, that night I was afraid to sleep because I wasn’t sure if I had gotten them all. I should also mention that the main bedroom is wall to wall bed, if you need to use the bathroom you have to crawl over your partner to get out of bed. I don't have claustrophobia but I was very uncomfortable sleeping in this room. This place should be condemned, not rented out. I grew up on a lake in Minnesota, I know what to expect. This place is very neglected, even the blinds were all mangled, who would leave ruined blinds on the windows for paying customers to see, it is just not professional. I plan to talk to the Planning and Zoning Office and have them come out and inspect this place. The rotting window frames is where the water is leaking in and I suspect there is black mold behind the walls. They would have to gut this place to make it habitable.

Owner response:Our cabin is neat & clean, I clean the cabin each week myself thoroughly. No, we do not have huge bedrooms – most people come to the lake to use the beach, swim, boat, kayak, canoe and fish all of which are included with the cabin and simply use the bedrooms for sleeping and they are perfect for that! There was no water softener in the cabin when we purchased it and we had one installed immediately so the water is now soft and rust free; yes, there is a rust stain on the sink basin that does not come out. There is NO mold inside our cabin; the lower level is fully finished and walks out to the lake. I apologize that during your stay it was cool weather & rainy, non-typical for MN this time of year! Deposit was refunded fully.
