Location: This serene property is nestled on a 1 acre wooded lot on a paved road in a quiet, deep water cove, overlooking a great view of Hyco Lake. This is a pristine recreational lake (ideal for boating, fishing, water ski/wake boarding, hiking, etc.). Hyco Lake is in the quiet countryside of upper North Carolina on the border of Virginia. This is an ideal vacation spot for families of all ages. If you want to get away from the city life and explore nature, a little bit of wilderness, and plenty of wildlife, this is the place to come vacation, bring your binoculars. This is the kind of relaxing lake vacation spot, which movies are made about. It is conveniently located just 15 miles south of Danville, VA and approx. 45 miles north of Raleigh- Durham, North Carolina. Only minutes away from VIR Speedway and 45 min. from Martinsville Nascar Speedway.
Accommodations: Indulge yourself in this quiet "SMOKE FREE", very clean quiet country lake house. Smoking is permitted outside, just not in the home. It is a spacious 2100 sq. ft. two level single home with a wraparound deck overlooking the lake, situated on a private one acre lakefront lot with a large circular driveway. It has 4 bedrooms & 2 full baths and comes fully equipped and furnished. The permanent dock house/sun deck (not a floater) has an enclosed area with a refrigerator, covered dinette area, stereo Bose speaker system and an oversize sun deck with chaise loungers.
For your convenience, family pleasure and entertainment, we provide a well stocked library of family and children's video + cable TV & broadband hi speed wireless cable internet. We provide all your bath,and bed linens. All you need is your clothes,food, own beach towels and personal preference items.
Layout: Upstairs is a comb. kitchen/dining area (fully equipped) with a walk-in pantry. Adjacent to the dining area is the large living room with a recliner sleeper sofa, recliner loveseat and TV all with hardwood flooring. To the rear are two w/w carpeted bedrooms (full & queen beds with cable tv) and a full bathroom. The upstairs LR has two sets of French doors, that exit out onto the large oversize patio deck (complete with gas barbecue & patio table) overlooking the quiet lake cove. Enjoy your mornings with a coffee and breakfast on the upper deck patio table. Walk downstairs to the recreation room with w/w carpet complete wall unit entertainment system including stereo, TV, DVD and VCR. The downstairs has a full bathroom with two bedrooms (queen bed & bunkbeds full/twin). The laundry area has a stack washer/dryer.
Exit out the patio doors onto the lower concrete patio and enjoy a peaceful quiet view of the lake (complete with full wooden swing & rocking chairs). The concrete sidewalk is a short walk down to the dock, complete with a single bay boat dock with refrig., sun deck and covered patio deck and patio table and cushioned chairs. The large oversize sun deck has four cushioned chaise lounges. Most of your days and playtime will be spent down on the deck, or cruising on the lake. The boathouse and deck area has a stereo system complete with Bose outdoor speakers for your listening pleasure. The water depth at the end of the dock is 8-10 ft. deep. There are walk-in steps at the shallow end for the kiddies. It’s a nice quiet cove to just float around on one of our rafts, if you just choose to relax. In the evening, grab your favorite wine, cocktail or beverage and just retire around the "fire pit" campfire overlooking the lake for some daily fireside chat (we even supply the firewood). Help yourself to the cutup firewood around the property.
General Area: Ideal for taking leisurely walks or some long country bike rides. The weekends are active with boaters, skiers, wake boarders and fisherman. The weekdays are quiet and serene. Visit a local farm and pick your produce fresh for dinner. There are several local convenience stores for gas and groceries, all less than 3 miles. For those with more serious shopping preferences visit Roxboro (12 mi.) or Danville (15 mi.)

Local Dining: For lakeside dining take your boat to the Warm Waters Restaurant & Bar at the Marina (Entertainment on weekends), or travel approx. 8 miles to the Old Country Club Steakhouse for an outstanding steak dinner (open pit charcol grill) at unbelievable low prices for quality food. Always very busy and popular on the weekends, seats 300 in various rooms, and they fill the rooms. Also, many other restaurants in Danville and Roxboro too numerous to mention.
Local Attractions: Martinsville NASCAR Speedway (45 min.), VIR International Raceway (15 min.), historical areas, local farms, sightseeing and civil war battlefields. For those very rare bad weather days there is Palace Pointe Entertainment Complex in Roxboro. They have bowling, roller skating, game arcades and movie theaters all in one building. A list of other attractions, restaurants, and shopping will be provided prior to your arrival.

- The kids will really enjoy the free use of the paddle boat. For safety reasons stay in the cove with the paddleboat. We also have two kayaks for your enjoyment, but can be used only with adult supervision and assistance. All recreational boats require the person to wear life vests. It's the law and the lake authority and wildlife patrol will probably fine you for not wearing a life preserver.

We really enjoy staying at this home. There is plenty of room to spread out and the kitchen is well-stocked in case you've forgotten something. It is especially nice for us because we bring our father-in -law with us who can only negotiate a couple of steps, so once he's up on the porch, he can stay upstairs and it is a one level stay for him.

This property was one of the best (if not the best) that we have rented from vrbo. Everything was just as advertised. The place was clean and well maintained and was just as displayed in the photos. We would recommend this property to anyone. Although there are many activities, attractions and restaurants nearby we did not use any other than the post office, Walmart and the local bait shop on the way there. We didn't move the car the entire 3 nights and 4 days there with the grandsons. We fished and played in the hilly yard, built a couple of fires, cooked some hot dogs over the fire and had a grand time. The weather was a bit cool and this fish were not very active but we caught some and that was all that was necessary. We plan to go back when the weather is better in the spring and use that paddle boat and the kyacks. What a wonderful place.

We had a wonderful time staying here. Of course the weather played in our favor but the amenities were perfect. The view is beautiful and the house was the perfect size and comfort for our family. We spent most of our time lounging on the dock swimming, boating and fishing. My grandchildren had the best time catching fish. We even managed to get a cozy fire going in the firepit and everyone took some time sitting, chatting and relaxing. We couldn't have had a better time together as a family and will be looking to stay here again in the future.

The lake water was like bath water, very clean and clear. We spent our week exploring the lake, skiing, tubing, wake boarding, eating and relaxing. What a great way to spend a much needed family vacation. This house was so cozy and fully equipped with all the extras. We loved the deck on the boat house. Our 3 year old loved jumping off the dock, watching the fish swim, and fish right off the dock. I highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a worry/hassel free place to stay. Thanks Bob for a great house and we are making plans to book a weekend soon!

We really enjoyed everything from the swimming, the paddle boat for exploring, the "movie room", the boat house (with music), and the evening campfires. The house was exceptionally clean and the "welcome packet " was a nice touch. We came to the area for a track weekend at VIR with our auto club. The house is in a great location to VIR and not too far from restaurants, etc. in Roxboro. We enjoyed our stay at the house.

We stayed the second week in August with family. There was 7 of us and we were very comfortable. The house is spacious and as advertised. The kids were able to swim off the dock and they had a terrific time. The decks offered a great view and the firepit area was a terrific way to unwind after a long day. It was very quiet during the week. There are TV's in the bedrooms, all appliances, dvd, vcr and internet/phone service. I would highly recommend and look forward to next years vacation.

If you are looking for a house in this area I strongly recommend this property. We were in the area and found it to be a beautiful base for our couple weeks. There are two nice bedrooms upstairs. And then two more downstairs. There is a large living room. An easy to use kitchen, a nice big grill out on the deck which over-looks the lake. There are two good bathrooms. Laundry. The dock/deck is a great place to hang out at the end of the day. Most importantly, the owner is a pleasure to work with. Everything was as advertised. Everything was really clean. You'll enjoy it.

The 1 negative comment was from an international guest, that complained about a $4.95 charge subtracted from his full security refund for an International money order purchase. This French Canadian did not understand, that I spent two hours locating/driving to a local post office to return his $195.05 security deposit with an Int'l Money Order.
