- Central Oregon is home to over 100 lakes and more than a dozen nationally renowned streams including the famous fly fishing waters of the Deschutes, Metolius and Crooked Rivers.... All of the lakes, as well as the Crane Prairie and Wickiup Reservoirs, are stocked with rainbow and brown trout. Anyone over the age of 14 must have a license to fish in Oregon waters. Licenses are available wherever bait and tackle are sold. Steelhead fishing is available on the lower Deschutes, which is about a one-hour drive north of the resort. Rafting: The Deschutes River offers some of the best whitewater rafting in the Northwest. In the summer months take an exciting guided tour down the class III and IV rapids, where the beautiful scenery engulfs you and the cool water refreshes you. The half-day Big Eddy trip, which begins just 20 miles from Eagle Crest, will give you a taste of the whitewater adventure. One, two and three-day excursions beginning about 70 miles from the resort
