This condo is located in Kailua-Kona village at the Kona Reef complex. This 2 bedroom/2 bath condo is for those who want to be on the oceanfront and see dolphins and whales from their private lanai. Even better, unless you like to drive, you can leave your car parked and walk three blocks to restaurants, shopping and local activities.
The complex has covered parking, security guards, a pool, and spa. You can keep an eye on your children at the pool from your lanai. The main attraction is stunning blue water views and sunsets every night. The lanai is only 100 feet, at the most, from the water. When the surf's up, you will watch surfing and boogie boarding straight out from the lanai. The cool ocean breezes flow through the lanai window to keep your place pleasant all day and night. The condo is a second floor end unit.

This was our second stay in Hang Ten and our sixth overall at Kona Reef. We can’t say enough about Hang Ten! It was even more enjoyable than our last visit. We arrived a little early and saw that the unit was still being prepped. We walked in and hollered Aloha and were greeted by Rose who was preparing the unit for our arrival. She was gracious and said we could leave our stuff (we had some items needing refrigeration). I noticed that she was doing a very thorough job even wiping down the lanai railing. As I said we had stayed in another unit four times prior to switching to Hang Ten. That was a beautiful unit but it never seemed to get the attention that Rose was giving Hang Ten. The ocean front, third floor corner location provides a panoramic view. You can see the harbor and beyond to the north and well to the south. You also overlook the pool. You can leave the windows open to take advantage of the breezes and to listen to the surf at night. The only time we closed the lanai doors was to muffle the sound of the waves while watching television in the evening. It’s really hard to add to all of the other reviews. It’s clear that everyone loves Hang Ten. We are already planning our next visit.Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

We were impressed with Hang Ten from the moment we walked through the door and saw the amazing views. The doors to the Lanai were open and the breeze was blowing the drapes and waves were crashing ashore just outside the condo, a welcome sight indeed. We were also impressed with how well the condo was stocked with everything we needed to make the visit perfect and with the Kona Reef staff, who kept the grounds immaculate. The walk to most restaurants is less than 10 minutes and if you want to cook your own meals, there are plenty of locations to pick up supplies and cook your own meals on the 4 sparkling clean grills by the pool (the staff were cleaning the grills every morning so they looked brand new when you go to use them). In addition, booking and paying through the very professional and accomodating VRBO agents, Mary Lou & Gerry was extremely easy.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

We just returned from our trip to Kona and our stay in the Hang Ten condo (Sept 12-18). We can't say enough wonderful things about the unit and our stay! The unit was so well-equipped, we had everything we could possibly need and more. We especially liked that it had a queen-size bed in the second bedroom, appropriate and comfortable for another couple (instead of the usual two twins to be pushed together). The view from the lanai was beautiful, and we really enjoyed watching the sunsets, surfers and even dolphins. This was a great experience from start to finish. Our emails and questions were answered promptly and completely, and the unit was even more beautiful than our highest expectations. We never even touched the a/c, because the corner location allowed for a soothing tropical breeze; and we hardly even used our rental car, because the location can't be beat -- It's an easy walk to most of the shops and restaurants in the village of Kona. Reviewing the comments in the guest book, we couldn't help noticing that many of the vacationers had signed the book two and even three times. That speaks volumes for the unit and the rental experience. We love Kona, and the Hang Ten will be our first choice on our next visit. Mahalo!Did you find this review helpful? This was our third stay at the Kona Reef and our second stay at the Hang Ten condo. We absolutely LOVE IT there and can't wait to go back. The location is perfect; close enough to walk to town, but not so close that you feel you are in the middle of town. The view is spectacular! We saw turtles daily and dolphin on several occassions. The property is clean and has just about anything you would need for cooking in or a day at the beach. I did donate a pineapple slicer!! Don't miss out on the snorkeling at Kahalu'u and Honaunau! It's fabulous!! And Hapuna Beach is a must if you are looking for the 'Perfect Hawaiian Beach'. (I do try to avoid these great areas on cruise ship days, though!) The complex is great, the condo is great and the owners were very easy to work with. I can't recommend this condo enough!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

We stayed for two weeks the first part of December. Third floor corner location provides for a great view and good ventilation. We never had to run the air conditioner. Never had to go to the office as the unit has several pool/beach towels. Beach chairs too. Nice kitchen, well stocked. Even a coffee grinder! The downside to the third floor are the stairs as the elevators in this complex don't seem to go anywhere. But it's not really much of a downside in the big picture. We will definitley stay here again.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, age 55+.

My husband and I stayed at the Hang Ten for five nights March 2011. From the minute you walk into the condo the view just takes your breathe away. I really could have been satisfied to have spent the entire five days on the lanai. We walked everywhere for the most part since town is within a block or two. It was magical to see the yellow tangs rolling in the surf and the local turtle who come up on the rocks to sun. Our last night was the night the tsunami struck. This complex has a very homey feel and the manager was going door to door to advise everyone to vacate. We spent a memorable night at Safeway up the hill meeting many interesting people from all over as well as many locals. It was startling to see the video later on the internet of Alii street flooded and several of the first floor units of the Kona Reef also damaged. Can't wait to go back.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Hang Ten condo. We've stayed at many one-bedroom units at the Kona Reef over the years, but because we were going to be in Kona for TWO weeks in April we decided to treat ourselves to a larger unit. It was wonderful having his-and-her bathrooms both of which had large showers. We also appreciated the luxury of the extra-large master bedroom. The king-size, four-poster bed was very comfortable. The soft breeze from the ceiling fan over the bed was delightful. We were thrilled beyond measure with the unit and will absolutely stay there again. We will also refer our most discriminating friends. So clean, so well-appointed. It did not lack a single thing. It was great to have the upgraded beach chairs & large umbrella to take with us to the beach every day. In addition to boogie boards & snorkeling gear. The kitchen had nice, clean appliances & heavy-duty Calphalon cookware. It was fully stocked right down to coffee filters, Zip-Loc bags & spices. Not to mention the large amount of plates, flatware, cups, glasses & storage containers. A very nice Bosch washer & dryer simplified our stay - no need to over pack! We appreciated the attention to detail & inviting tropical decor. It was spotless upon arrival and, again, we were thrilled with the amenities. You will not find a nicer, more convenient property than the Kona Reef. The view from the large, ocean-front lanai of the Hang Ten is breathtaking. You'll also enjoy the ocean view from the kitchen & living room. It's a lovely, five-minute walk (at a leisurely Hawaiian pace) into town to have a meal at one of the many restaurants or for some shopping. When we weren't watching the sunset from the lanai, our favorite place to be was Don the Beachcomber's Mai Tai Bar (at the Royal Kona Resort) or at Huggo’s. Hard to tear yourself away from that view but there are so many beautiful beaches to visit & exploring to do on the Big Island. The Kona Reef is a quiet property and our experience has been that residents and guests abide by the quiet hours. We’ve never heard the people in the neighboring units or around the pool. The rental process was seamless, fast and informative. emails were returned quickly with all questions answered. A follow-up email after our stay was also appreciated. They care about their guests. The pictures included with this listing are great but don't do the unit justice - it's BETTER! Many mahalos to the owners of Hang Ten!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, people with disabilities, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.
