Winter Holiday - Starting with the week before Thanksgiving and staying up through mid January, we will be setting up a beautiful Christmas Tree and decorating the house with festive holiday decor. Enjoy a nice relaxing time by the fireplace with remote controlled gas logs and catch views of the Lake. This is a 4 Season house, so you can enjoy the holiday in a nice warm Lake House. This 4 season Lake Home on the shores of beautiful Delavan Lake offers you a peaceful and quiet getaway any time of the year. Nestled off of North Shore drive in an area of 100 Year Old Oaks, this completely remodeled Victorian Single Family Home is one of the earliest homes on Delavan Lake.
The home features a huge wrap around porch completely surrounded by floor to ceiling glass sliding patio doors that offers both open air breezes from the lake front and enclosed comfort for the evenings and cooler days. The porch area has two ceiling fans to offer additional breezy comfort during those warm summer days on the water. A full size futon opens to allow sleeping for two in the open air of the enclosed porch. On the other side of the porch is a dining set to enjoy meals while also enjoying views of the boats on the lake or to keep a watchful eye on the children playing in the front lawn. Subtle lighting provides an relaxing mood when the sun goes down and the time is right to enjoy conversation and drinks with the neighbors in the area who often enjoy the lake front around a blazing fire pit. You can also enjoy your very own fire with the provided front yard fire pit, where you can hear the water rushing onto the shore.
You will enter the home through double doors and inside you will find an open ceiling format with natural pine wood floors. The front Living Room is open to the Dining area which is open to the newly remodeled Kitchen. All appliances in the kitchen are stainless steel and brand new. Enjoy cooking on the marble counter tops while enjoying a view of the lake. You can also cook on the provided gas grill in the back yard. The dining room features a new solid wood table that seats up to 8 people. Connecting through both the Living Room and the Kitchen stairwell is a Den that also features a full bathroom with Shower. You can enjoy a movie on the Flat Screen TV and then have sleeping quarters for an additional guest as the room has two closing doors.
Upstairs you will find the same natural Pine Plank floors with one bedroom equipped with a Bunk bed that sleeps one on the top and two on the full size mattress at the bottom. The room has a full size closet and a TV. The second bedroom is huge and has views of the lake and features beautiful antique furniture and a Full size bed that will sleep two. You can relax, read a book under the ceiling fan and open a window to enjoy the lake air and pleasant lake views. This bedroom also has a beautiful wood adjustable crib with matress and our own Mother's Rocking Chair that was ours from when our kids were little.
Down a short hallway is the Master Bedroom which has a full closet and features a double patio door which leads to a roof deck complete with a cafe table and two chairs for morning breakfast with unobstructed views of the lake. The Master includes a plush pillow top Queen size mattress and new Frank Lloyd Wright inspired Prairie Furniture and antique desk. The views from this room are spectacular and you will sleep with the breeze from the lake coming through the screened double patio doors.
The Second floor has a full bath with new fixtures and a tub/shower. The Hallway is tastefully decorated and recently painted and features brass antique sconces. A huge Hall closet contains extra linens and towels and has enough extra room for guest storage of personal items.
You will be comfortable year round with gas heat/central air conditioning and whole house water softener. You also will enjoy the unique quiet surroundings of the neighborhood as there are no cars or boats on the adjacent properties to awaken you in the middle of the night. Assigned parking is available a short distance across the street in a designated parking lot. Upon the reopening of an adjacent Marina a boat slip will be available. Until then a Boat Launch is available at nearby Lake Lawn Resort or the Delavan Lake Public Boat launch. Boating or Personal Watercraft dropoffs will also have to be made there as the property has only a Swim Pier and Swim Platform and boat docking and drop offs are not allowed by law. Delavan Lake Marina in within a few hundred feet of our doorstep and their grand re-opening is hopefully coming very soon.
This property is located in a close community of other lake homes and House Parties are not allowed. This is the perfect Lake House for your leisure getaway and lake enjoyment. If you are planning a party or bringing more guests to the house other than those who will be sleeping there, because of the size of the lot you may be best advised to choose a location better suited to your requirements.
You can also enjoy all the activities available in nearby Lake Geneva which is a short 15 minute drive.

Why the Owner Chose Delavan
My wife and I chose to purchase in the Lake Delavan area after visiting one weekend. We had previously purchased 5 acres of land adjacent to the Hawk's View Golf Course at Trinity Mountain Estates in Lake Geneva. We wanted to make sure that we enjoyed the area. We purchased a small home a block off the lake on the South Shore side and soon learned that we loved the Lake life. Upon rehabbing that home we found the home that we currently are renting while boating one summer afternoon. The house is clearly visible from the lake and the unique architecture along with the red roof immediately drew us to researching further. In short notice we sold the other home and purchased this one which we love. We have since purchased another home on the South Shore side of the lake with lake frontage that we currently use for our own family summer lake vacations. Loving this house as much as we did, we decided that it would be the perfect vacation Lake rental and left most of the furnishings that we originally installed and made it available for others to enjoy as much as we do. Because we love the Lake so much, we have since invested in the area by purchasing a Lake Lawn Hotel Condo that is also available for rent. That listing is currently now active on VRBO.
The Unique Benefits at this Lake House
You will love the beautiful lake views that will give you a feeling of serenity when you are relaxing on he huge screened in porch. I personally was drawn to the fact that there are water views from over 75% of the house. We love the sense of community with our neighbors who often sit out in the evening and chat aside the fire pit with a glass of wine. It's the perfect place to enjoy some time away and to relax and recharge the batteries after long weeks of working. There are no driveways or garages on the homes in Rockford Colony which I believe adds the benefit of not having to listen to any cars or boats starting at all hours of the night or day. The sounds you do hear are the sounds of the Lake, of children playing, of people having fun and the crashing of the water on the shore. This is not a place to have 30 of your favorite friends and relatives over to have a swinging party. There are many long term full time residents who value their privacy and enjoy their neighbors who respect and control noise levels and do not trespass on their piers or property. But it is a place where you and your guests can have a lot of fun with watchful consideration of those neighbors around you.
Nice lake pub that has pool tables, food and occassional live entertainment
This is where the parking lot for our home is located. We have two private assigned spaces and free first come first served use of the first 8 spaces in the lot.
Local Marina for sail boats. Look for the sail boats on the lake on Sunday mornings.
This is a nice small restaurant that has a Fish Fry on Fridays, A bar is attached with TV's to watch games. Food is excellent. Reservations are recommended.
Jsut a short distance from the front door is our swim pier. Its about 8 steps down to the water level and the swim platform is about 20 feet from the end of the pier. Fun !
The lakefront has a sidewalk that the neighbors are allowed to use. You can walk from the Lake House (A) all the way to the Yacht Club (E)
The Lakefront sidewalk also proceeds south of the Marina until it ends a few blocks later. It's a nice quiet walk with beautiful homes and views. You may even find a celebrity on this portion of the w
Owner's Map of Delavan
My wife and I have two girls, currently 12 and 16, who were the major reason for our investing in the Lake Delavan area. We are business owners and wanted our children to have different "stories" to tell other than how their parents were always working. We have one dog, a golden retriever named Gibson, (after my love of all things guitar) whom we purchased as a puppy from a family in Elkorn, after reading an add in the local Lake Delavan Piggly Wiggly. So while we are a family from Illinois, we fondly can say our dog is a cheesehead. We have come to love the lake life and love the Lake Delavan area. We really start to look forward to spring because its the beginning of the Lake season. Our Lake Home is just over an hour away from our main residence, so vacation is always just a short drive away and we can always simply enjoy a long weekend so that we can have that feeling often during the summer.

Thanks for the kind comments. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. There were two extra pillows in the linen closet that dissappeared prior to your coming and will be replaced this week. A previous renter said that one night when they went to sleep they had a dream they ate a giant marshmallow but when they woke up the pillow was gone ! :-)
