Welcome to Case Nove!

Case Nove is set on the side of a hill with lovely views over the Tiber River and the surrounding Umbrian hills. The farmhouse or casale was restored some years ago but has retained its traditional rustic appeal. The casale is set on property of 3.3 hectares surrounded by woods, rolling hills and the Tiber River and located on a road leading off the ss448, the main road between Todi and Orvieto.

Case Nove is ideal for those who enjoy peace and tranquility. We suggest a stroll through the vines, a walk along the strada vicinale or you can simply sit at the table under the shade of the large oak overlooking the vineyard and enjoy the ambience of the "green heart of Italy".

Case Nove is perfectly situated and very accessible from Rome via two main routes. It is about 20 minutes from the Orvieto exit of the A1 autostrada. After exiting the freeway, follow the signs to Todi on the ss448 via the picturesque Lake Corbara. Alternatively, take the Orte exit off the A1 autostrada and follow the signs to Perugia on the E45 (Terni-Perugia) superstrada and then take the Orvieto exit (at Ponterio) and proceed along the ss448 in the direction of Orvieto for about 8 kms.

However, instead of driving from Rome or from a northern direction, you may wish to catch the train to Orvieto and hire a car at Orvieto which is one of the main stops on the north-south train route. The main car hire companies are conveniently located within a short distance of the railway station.

The closest village to the casale is Acqualoreto, with a population of 200 residents. The closest major shopping area is Ponterio (at the foot of the hill where Todi is located) with facilities including a bank, pharmacy, supermarket and wine co-operative. This is about 5-10 minute drive.

The casale has 3 levels:

Ground floor: Kitchen with large fireplace; large dining room with table for 6 and an extention for up to 14; adjoining lounge room with fireplace; reading/sitting room; large games room with ping-pong table; bathroom with bath and shower. Ironing facilities and a clothes horse for drying are located in the games room.

First Floor: 6 bedrooms (4 with double beds and 2 rooms each with 2 single beds); bathroom with sit in bath and shower and washing machine; the largest double room also has a WC attached. Three of the bedrooms overlook the Tiber River, the vineyard and the surrounding hills whilst the other three rooms overlook the front of the casale and the surrounding hill and woods.

Lower Ground: contains workshop and cantina areas and are not included for rental.

Outside areas of the casale: There are two adjoining buildings, a casa colonica (used for storage) and a garage. Each contain bread ovens.

  • The surrounding area is ideal for walking, trekking, hiking, bike riding. Umbria has many beautiful towns to visit - Todi, Orvieto, Spoleto, Assisi, Perugia are just a short distance from Case Nove. Rome and Florence are easily accessible by car or by train from Orvieto. Umbria abounds with history and culture dating back to Etruscan times with the region having many museums, magnificent buildings and interesting places to visit. Umbria is a region reknown for its wonderful food and wine. We suggest you take the opportunity to savour some wonderful local delicacies including the much prized porcini mushrooms, wild asparagus, black truffles and wild boar accompanied by a red from Montefalco or a crisp Orvieto Classico.
