Thought we would add a more recent review to the other ones already posted; we stayed April 27-May 3, 2013. The apartment is pretty much as advertised: perfect for a couple, comfortable with all the necessary amenities, and good location (out of the touristy areas but close to all the important sites). Marijn was very helpful with information before, and during, our arrival. We rented bikes from a local shop a few blocks away (Bike4U on Kinkerstraat) and used them to get everywhere during our stay; tram lines are just outside our door, but we never needed them. Museums and sites are much closer than they appear on the maps. On our morning out, Marijn directed us to a bus straight to the airport, saving us the cost of a taxi. The stop was just a 10' walk away. ING ATM, grocery store, street market, and scattered restaurants all 1-3 blocks away. A few comments: there was no curtain for the window by the dining table for nighttime privacy, the gas stove could use a new sparker/lighter, and it wasn't clear if the gas oven was working (we never needed it). Nevertheless, we wish we could have stayed longer and will remember this apartment!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This place has a great location, local shops, easy access to the tram. The kitchen was fully equipped and lots of restaurants around the area when you didn't want to be bothered. Lovely garden view out back window, definite people watching out front.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

This property is an excellent spot for a couple looking to explore Amsterdam. It is right on the intersection of two tram lines and within walking distance of anything inside the canal rings. The property is clean and well maintained and in a great neighborhood. Active but not too tourist. They have a great street market as a bonus. The owner was very helpful and very easy to contact so checking in was a breeze. Please be aware that a rental in Amsterdam involves a walk up very steep stairs so keep that in mind. I would recommend this property to anyone that can climbe stairs.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The place is clean and fortunately only one flight of stairs and the photos were accurate. The locations is great with 4 tram line stops just out of the door in the street corner. It is also within a walking distance from many sites. The supermarket is very close as are nice cafes with outdoor seating. It was also very enjoyable to sit by the window in the unit looking at the trees in the morning while having breakfast and planning for the day's activities. Overall, very nice place. I will return there, if I am again in Amsterdam.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

This apt. completely met our expectations and was priced right! Great overall value and convenient to all that Amsterdam has to offer. I own a vacation rental & management company so it was important for me to experience first-hand as a renter (vs. "owner") the VRBO process & experience. The description was completely accurate and we were very satisfied.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing.

We walked everywhere. Great shops, restaurants, parks and museums were all nearby. And when it rained we hopped on a tram right around the corner. The bed was divinely comfortable, the bedroom peaceful. We enjoyed breakfast at the sunny kitchen table, looking out at the trees. The living room was perfect for people watching; the apt. is on a street filled with busy Amsterdam life, but double pained windows kept out the noise. Also, a well lit arm chair provided a cozy spot to curl up with a book. Two suggestions: a shelf or caddy for soap and shampoo in the shower, and a few more prints on the walls. The fresh flowers were a thoughtful and much appreciated welcome.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had a short stay in the apartment and it provided everything we needed. tThe description is accurate. The location was convenient and we could walk everywhere. There is a good supermarket round the corner. The kitchen was well equipped and clean and the vase of flowers was a lovely touch. The bedroom is small but quiet with blackout curtains so we slept really well. Thank you for a great stay.Recommended for: Sightseeing

This couldn't be nicer, well away from the red light district and Dam Square, to get there a walk through lovely canals, on a lovely street opposite a tram stop (great for people watching!). Just 10 minutes from Van Gogh museum and vondelpark (turn right out of the apartment), or just 15 minutes to proper old canal Amsterdam (turn left out of door). Good supermarket 2 minutes walk, lots of nice bars close by. Apartment is big for 2 people, good kitchen, nice and clean. The owner is very easy going and doesn't hassle you at all. He met us at the apartment even though we came earlier than expected, no moans from him! Overall, a fabulous apartment in a great city.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had a very pleasant staying in this apartment! The apartment has everything you may need (compact bathroom with shower, sink and wc, a fully equipped kitchen, a quite bedroom, and a very spacious main room where to dine and watch tv). Particularly noteworthy is the location of the apartment, which sits just at the edge of the Jordaan, in a very central location with access to several public transports to the city center and Museumplein, and very close to shops and cafes. Marijn, the owner, was very accomodating of our needs and always responsive if we had any questions. We would certainly come back again to this apartment. Thank you Marijn for this lovely staying at your place!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

The one good thing about this property is the location. However be prepared for terrible stairs to get up to it. However this is true through most of Amsterdam. Our main complaints have to do with the furnishings and lighting. There were dishes in the cupboard that all had to be washed before we could use them. The night stands and end tables are all orange crates. That means if you want to put anything on them, it falls through. The only lighting is overhead and the kitchen one did not work. There was one sofa and a TV in the livingroom. The sofa was not that comfortable and there were no lamps, so forget trying to read. In our case the weather was so terrible that it would have been nice to have a lamp there or at least in the bedroom to read by. The place was quiet and was a good location. Also right next door is a small market. Buy your eggs there, they are all double yolks. Of all the VRBO places we have stayed this was by far the worst. I think if the owners were to spend a little more enrgy being sure it was clean, including the dishes, and add just a couple of lamps and real tables, people would be more likely to come back. We dfinitely would not stay there again.Owner response: "Thank you for your feedback, it's always very useful to have comments - actually, it's particularly useful to hear if something is wrong or you need something, because then we can change things if they aren't right. And please, if you have a serious complaint, call us straightaway - it is always better for you if we can fix a problem while you are in the apartment so you can enjoy the improvement. (We recently provided new tools for the kitchen for someone who stayed and wanted to cook a special meal). In response to your specific comments, we have bought new lighting so there are now 3 additional lamps in the apartment.

We enjoyed staying in this apt. for 5 nights in June 2009. Great location in Old West near Jordaan -- a fun, convenient location for enjoying lovely Amsterdam on foot. Wonderful street & neighborhood (shops, eateries, markets everywhere), walking distance to major sights and museums, and tram stops for all directions just outside the apt. The apt. was comfortable -- spacious main room and very quiet bedroom. The bathroom is very compact (shower, sink and toilet all in 1 small room), but everything was clean, new and worked well. Everything in the apt. was as described and pictured. The owner, Marijn, was responsive and answered all questions. Thank you, Marijn - your apt. was a wonderful base from which to discover Amsterdam.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2
