Located on one of the many golf courses of the Canadian Lakes Resort area, this is a great getaway for Summer or Fall golf, Fall color tours and cross country skiing in the winter. Two World class golf courses and dining facilities - Tullymore and St Ives - are both 10 minutes away.
The home has been described as "very cozy" and is family friendly. Fireplaces on both floors make this a great place to visit in the Winter time. The Canadian Lakes Resort area has all kinds of family activities and is a great place to visit.

Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2004
My father built this home in the late 70's and lived here with my mother until he passed away in 2001. I purchased the home from my siblings a few years later and have enjoyed long weekend getaways here since then. It is not a cottage, it is a year-round home. I did not purchase it as a rental, but allowing people to come and visit has allowed me to help pay some of the expenses associated with the home. My hope is that some day I will be able to retire and move into the home.
The Unique Benefits of this House
When I visit I find the area to be very relaxing. I go for walks, bike rides, or play a little golf. The courses in the area vary from very easy for beginners to very difficult for the more advanced golfers. There are some great places to eat in the area or it's fun to barbecue on the deck and watch the golfers go by while you sip your drink at the table.
In the Winter I park myself in front of the fireplace and enjoy a good book while I watch the deer walk by in the snow. Very relaxing.

My wife and I have rented this great place for three years in a row. First year for 2 weeks in late August thru Labor Day, the second year for 6 weeks, from August thru mid September and last year for 5 weeks. It has always been a very relaxing vacation. The property is beautifully maintained and very clean. It is very comfortable, the golf courses are outstanding and the wild life unbelievable. We recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a great relaxing time. Richard is a great guy to deal with and has treated us fantastic.
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway.

I ENJOYED MY 2 WEEK STAY AT THE BERKFIELD HOME IN CANADIAN LAKES. EVERYTHING WAS MORE THAN SATISFACTORY. I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS WHATSOEVER. MR. BERKFIELD IS A GENTLEMAN AND A PLEASURE TO DO BUSINESS WITH. MY STAY INCLUDED FALL MICHIGAN WEATHER SO THE FIREPLACE(S) WERE A JOY AND THE VIEW OUT OF THE FRONT WINDOWS WAS A CONSTANT NATURE SHOWCASE; ONE THAT YOU COULD ENJOY FOR HOURS. I GREW UP IN THIS AREA BUT DON'T RECALL EVER SEEING SO MANY DEER. I WILL VISIT AGAIN AND WOULD NOT HESITATE TO RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY TO ANYONE.

We have so enjoyed our two week visit in Canadian Lakes. The rental was very clean and well appointed. The golf views with deer sightings are fantastic. The weather for us was perfect. We will look forward to a repeat outing next year.

My wife and I have been renting homes and cottages in Canadian Lakes for several years. This home is by far the nicest and cleanest home we have rented. The home is clean and comfortable. The setting is wonderful, the neighbors are great. When we vacation here we feel like we leave our home downstate to come to our "other home" in Canadian Lakes.

My husband and I had a very enjoyable, relaxing vacation at this home in July, 2009. The home is very well maintained and updated and situated in a great location on the golf course. We were very comfortable and the owner was very cooperative and great to work with. We recommend this home highly to those who are looking for a relaxing golf vacation.
