Waterfront Circa 1850 Sea Captains cottage is one of the oldest standing waterfront cottages on Newport Island in the Northern town of Portsmouth. 15 minutes to downtown Newport this cottage home was completely redone in 2003 with a new kitchen, plumbing, electricity.
All of the old charm exists with original wide plank wooden floors and original wooden living room walls. The back dining/living area gives the impression of being on a boat as it sits just 6 feet away from the seawall during high tide. The rocky beach below is a perfect spot for digging for clams, fishing, and swimming. Note: this is a rocky beach so bring your water shoes to protect your feet. The famous sandy beaches of Newport are about 15 minutes away.
There is a first floor deck for outdoor entertaining and an upstairs master bedroom deck for star gazing. The house has a large side yard with a picnic table perfect for barbecues, horseshoes, and outdoor games. There are also multiple seaside restaurants, a grocery and liquor store within 5 minutes. This a perfect home for an affordable vacation with friends or family.
Day trips to Cape Cod and Boston are also viable as they are only an hour away from the home.
