We'll Definitely Return

Guest: Richard - Napa Valley, California USA (-)
Date of Stay: 08/04/11 Review Submitted: 11/15/11

The property is lovely and located so conveniently to all the region has to offer. The interior furnishings and decorating truly took us back in time to a period of grace and elegance, but with the convenience of modern amenities. The bedrooms are grand and comfortable and the bathrooms were so nicely done, we wished we could just move in. We enjoyed strolling the local markets and cooking some dinners in and found the kitchen very well equipped. We very much appreciated both your and Pascal's attentiveness to ensuring the WIFI enabled us to connect. Pascal is such a terrific and helpful person and went out of his way to make sure we were well taken care of, including inviting us to harvest grapes and watch some of the crush - truly a special experience. He also brought us fresh vegetables from your garden! Your wines were terrific and we'll look forward to locating them in the states. Thanks for the great recommendations of other local wineries and restaurants. We had a great time with Kellen, enjoyed her wines and left with some Grand Crus! We'll definitely look to return and enjoy Chateau Barrigards again soon.

Delighted With Our Stay

Guest: John and Kristin - Portola Valley, California USA (-)
Date of Stay: 07/20/11 Review Submitted: 11/15/11

We were delighted with our stay at Chateau des Barrigards. The house is immaculate; well furnished; and very comfortable for a family. What we didn’t anticipate was the beauty in this area of Burgundy. The city of Beaune is wonderful and easily accessible. The wineries in the area are too numerous to count. There are fascinating towns, like Cluny and Dijon, within a short drive. Finally, I was very pleased with how easy it was to interact with the owner. Reserving a house on the other side of the world can be an anxiety filled adventure. Arnaud was a pleasure to deal with, and he made us feel like his personal guest – always accessible for questions or inquiries. We highly recommend Chateau des Barrigards.”

Total Comfort and Sheer Beauty

Guest: Beth and David - Washington DC, USA (-)
Date of Stay: 06/03/11 Review Submitted: 11/15/11

Even the drive up to this petite chateau was thrilling and soothing. The anticipatory feelings of what the inside could be knowing the outside was already stunning were welcomed with grateful admiration. We were simply overcome by the grand architecture, lovely scents, visible cleanliness, total comfort and sheer beauty of the chateau and its surrounding gardens and vineyards. From the moment we opened the doors, we felt a calming sensation coupled with a will to run around the chateau and observe each room . The gracious bottle of Côte de Nuits waiting for us was most unexpected and welcome. All the rooms were inviting, comfortable and an absolute pleasure to be in day after night. As if the chateau was not enough in its perfection, the people of the town were charming, engaging, and most friendly. They recommended restaurants, cafes, wines and were so kind to us and most becoming of the hospitality in France. The loveliest memory of it all is we stayed there and felt relaxed as if we were in a close friend's grand home. We continued our travels throughout France and Italy staying in Relais Chateau properties and recommending Chateau Des Barrigards all along the way. Merci beaucoup. We shall surely return.

We Shall Certainly Return

Date of Stay: 10/15/10 Review Submitted: 11/15/11

Exceptional location. Immediately you can see the care taken in the restoration and renovation and the great ability of M. Arnaud in setting up such an excellent residence. The highlights are the richly decorated interiors and the rooms. Pascal is an addition to the grandeur and beauty of the Chateau. In short, it was a worthwhile trip and we shall certainly return.

Idyllic in Every Way

Guest: Tess G. - New York, USA (-)
Date of Stay: 07/15/10 Review Submitted: 11/15/11

My husband and I were more than fortunate to spend a week in July 2010 at Chateau des Barrigards. I'm not exaggerating in the slightest when I say it was idyllic in every way. We truly felt at home. Our host supplied us with lots of information and many ideas, and his household manager was always easy to reach and helpful with questions and suggestions. The Chateau is exquisitely furnished and decorated and will delight those interested in French art and antiques. For me, the premier attraction was the kitchen! Outfitted for a chef with restaurant quality gas appliances, the kitchen at Chateau Barrigards lets those who love to cook take advantage of Burgundy's bounty. Even though excellent restaurants lie literally within walking (or biking on the bikes that were provided for our use) distance, we rarely ate out, preferring instead to dine al fresco and enjoy the views of the vineyards. When you wish to explore, the ancient city of Beaune is literally a five minute drive and is filled with historical sights and gastronomical delights. The weekly market is not to be missed. Barely much farther afield lies Dijon also with a not to be missed market. I am already planning when I can return to Chateau des Barrigards. I rarely visit a place twice, but Chateau des Barrigards is special.

The Chateau is simply marvelous

Guest: Andrew - Boston USA (-)
Date of Stay: 06/15/10 Review Submitted: 11/15/11

My family of 5 was delighted to be able to stay at Chateau Barrigards in the heart of the Grand Cru vineyards of Burgundy just outside Beaune. The Chateau is simply marvelous: everything is perfect, works impeccably, is completely tasteful and spotlessly clean, and the furnishings, kitchen, and facility is fabulous. The Chateau is easily accessed from the Highway and only a couple of kilometers from the center of Beaune, with easy shopping and many restaurants nearby. The chateau is furnished with antiques in perfect taste, in a completely restored interior and exterior, with gorgeous baths and bedrooms, a wonderful chefs kitchen that is fully equipped for any cooking needs, and an elegant living room and dining area. It was the perfect size for our family as well. Pascal the caretaker could not have been more delightful or accommodating and the Chateau is a working vineyard and producer of a wonderful pinot, a full-fruit Côte de Nuits-Villages, as well as an unbelievable Aligoté, a white wine uncommon in the States that kills many of the best California chardonnays. Our tour of the cave and wine cellar capped an especially memorable short visit and we look forward to returning next year. The region is great for runs (head to Penard straight down the road for a nice 5 mile loop) or biking, and it’s very heady living opening up the windows of the chateau in the morning and smelling the air and the wheat and grapes nearby. Five of five stars. Thanks so much to Arnaud for opening up his home to our stay and for restoring this lovely hundred plus year old property in a grand fashion.

The perfect atmosphere

Guest: Gianni & Christine - New Jersey USA (-)
Date of Stay: 04/25/09 Review Submitted: 11/15/11

The rolling hills, the vineyards all around - although still winter sleeping - and this little "chateau" created the perfect atmosphere for a beautiful, relaxing and enjoyable stay.... unfortunately too short!"... The interior decoration gave us the true feeling of the French "bon gout". Finally the host.... the least we can say... perfect!". Thank you and see you soon.

Un monde raffiné

Guest: Yves et Yvonne - Paris (-)
Date of Stay: 04/10/09 Review Submitted: 11/15/11

Date of Stay: 05/15/09 Review Submitted: 11/15/11
