This newly built three bedroom house is surrounded by a covered porch that is the perfect spot to watch the sunrise with your favorite cup of coffee from the fully equipped kitchen, or the spot to relax out of the sun after a day on the beach that is only 250 feet from the house. After dinner you could retire to one of the two master bedrooms with queen size beds and sliding glass doors that you could leave open to hear the sounds of the ocean and feel the ocean breezes.
Shore Thing is about two miles from the quaint settlement of Great Guana Cay which has restaurants, dive & snorkel shops, boat renting and site-seeing tours. Visit the grocery and liquor stores, Tiki bars and the famous "Nipper's" bar. Golf cart recommended.

I have to say that the time we spent at Shore Thing Gauna Cay was the most relaxing week that we have had on a vacation. The house was super clean and the kitchen was well stocked for cooking. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were all very nicely decorated. The views from the house were spectacular overlooking the Atlantic and the natural surroundings. The beaches were amazing, powder soft sand and crystal clear waters. We spent alot of time at the beach beyond the white fence and saw maybe five other people the whole week. We did see lots of marine life snorkeling ; turtles, reef fish, rays, and even sharks. You have to kick out a ways but its worth it. The reef is a little closer at Nippers and is definitely a must see. Scuba diving and sportfishing are available and I was able to use both while on Guana. The local food store was a little expensive but well stocked ,and we were able to get everyting we needed. The owner was very helpful in the planning of this vacation. This was our first time going to the Bahamas and deciding not to go the super club route was a decision that brought up many questions. The owner answered all the questions we had and gave us some excellent suggestions to make the best of our visit. The caretakers were great. They met us at the dock with our golf cart rental, took us to the house and showed us the beach access. If you are looking for something really peaceful and private you will love this place.

Shore Thing is a great place to enjoy the Bahamas and Guana Cay. It has a great view of the Atlantic and it's a 2 minute walk to the beach and a 6 minute golf cart drive to restaurants and bars. The owner is very helpful and quick to respond to e-mails and questions. The house is very clean and comfortable with all the amenities needed: full size washer and dryer, good coffee maker, excellent a/c and a huge wrap-around porch with great views. The caretakers were friendly and met us at the dock coming and going. Basically, we lacked for nothing and are already planning our next vacation at Shore Thing.

We arrived at Shore Thing on Guana Cay June 18th and stayed untill June 22nd. The home is located on the southern end of the island past Orchid Bay. Travel by golf cart is a must to get to around on the island. The house is located by a very nice beach and located near High Rocks which is great for snorkeling. Can walk to Nippers from the house down the beach. Great views and breezes at the house. We had a wonderful time. The caretakers Pat and Sidney were also very helpful and answered all of our questions. We recommended statying on Shore Thing if you are looking to stay on Guana.

For our June/'11 trip we stayed at Shore Thing, a beautiful cottage located on the south end of Great Guana Cay. It's beautiful wrapped porch faces the Atlantic. It's a short walk to an incredible beach. We were the only ones on the beach each time we swam! I also walked to Nippers during several mornings. The views were nothing short of breathtaking. Shore Thing is a very well appointed 3 bedroom, 1 and 1/2 bath cottage. It had wireless Internet, DirecTV and a large HD Flat screen (not what we think of for GGC, but Mark enjoyed the sports updates). It was a newer built cottage, and very, very clean. Shore Thing also had a great grill on the front porch, as well as a dual head outdoor shower.

We arrived at Shore Thing on Guana Cay May 25th and stayed for 8 nights. The home is located on the southern end of the island within the Orchid Bay gated community. Travel by golf cart is necessary to get to and from the main settlement area in the central part of the island. The area around the home is very secluded and quiet. There is a very nice beach just a short walk away from the house. It's a bit sheltered than most other beaches on the east side of the island which makes the water a bit calmer and suitable for swimming. The shoreline on the other side of the island (West) is great for snorkeling and fishing. The Sunday pig roast at Nippers was also fun. All in all we had a great time. The caretakers Pat and Sidney were also very helpful and answered all of our questions. This beach house is highly recommended if you are looking for a quiet, peaceful stay on Guana Cay.

We loved staying at Shore Thing; it was spacious, clean, comfortable, and quiet. The location was nice; a very quiet area near a superb beach. The house was nicely appointed and the property owner was very helpful in providing information to help us prepare for the visit. We had a great and relaxing time and quickly adapted to island life (using the beautiful sunrise as our alarm clock, enjoying the ocean views from the porch, and relaxed walks to the nearby beaches).

We had an absolutely fabulous time at Shore Thing on Great Guana Cay in the Abaco Islands of the Bahamas. Caretakers Pat and Sidney showed us where everything was on the trip in. The house is very comfortable - brand-new and immaculately clean - with vaulted ceilings and lots of space. Kitchen is well-equiped and stocked with staples - very handy - but it's still convenient to go to town for meals (about a 10 minute golf-cart ride). We had dinner with Jerry a few times at Pirate's Cove ...excellent ribs, and the seafood combo is great, too. Also had a few salads with grilled grouper at Nippers (major yum) and had conch chowder at Grabbers most days for lunch (super-delicious). Went for a walk every day on the long beach near Shore Thing, and collected sea glass stuck in the coral at Secret Beach most afternoons. Snorkelled twice out the Abaco Sea side, and once in front of the long beach on the reef. Lots to do, and yet sooo peaceful! I'm still somewhat shocked that a place still exists that is relatively unexploited by man (compared to commercial destinations) that is not much more expensive to visit than commercial resorts; where instead of being packed onto beaches like sardines, you can go for an hour-long, mid-morning walk along a pristine beach and not see another person (not every time, but on half our walks we never saw another soul). Definitely need a golf cart. If you want to go out in a boat, reserve one ahead of time (Dive Guana) - we didn't reserve and couldn't get one - lots to do on the island, though! Since there's not much available at the restaurants for breakfast, you're likely going to want to have some groceries on hand. Try to either get to the island in good time on Saturday so you can get to Guana Harbour Grocery before it closes (it's not open Sunday), or pick up a few things in Marsh Harbour before catching the ferry across. All in all, we had a great time. The weather was great (just one drizzly day, which forced us to stay inside and flake-out - not a bad thing), we had lots of excellent food and drink, quality alone time, and plenty of isolation. In fact, we're hoping to come back next year, maybe even with the kids! :)

Well-equiped and stocked kitchen was very handy for meals at home, yet it was convenient enough to eat at one of the restaurants in town (about 10 minute golf-cart ride in to the settlement - population 160). Also nice if you can arrive either early enough on Saturday to hit the Guana Harbour Grocery (as it is closed Sundays), or grab a few things at a grocery in Marsh Harbour before catching the ferry over. Not much available for breakfasts at the local restaurants, either, so grab something at the grocery or take your own. It still boggles my mind, after staying at commercial resorts where you're packed together like sardines, that you can travel to a tropical location that is for the most part unexploited by man (at least not like many other tropical destinations) for a reasonable amount (not much more than these same commercial destinations), and not see a single individual on an hour-long, mid-morning walk along a pristine beach (not every time, but about half our walks we never saw another soul - unbelievable!). In fact, we're hoping to come back next year, maybe even with the kids!

I cannot say enough about this house! the photos do no do it justice!!! we had beautiful ocean views and one of the most beautiful (and secluded) beaches I've ever seen is a short walk away. the house is in a very private lovely area of guana cay but not too far from the settlement. The owner was fantastic to work with, so helpful and happily answerd any questions i had. We fell in love with Guana Cay, will definetly be back and wouldnt stay anywhere else!!
