Wonderful, outstanding, exceeded our expectations! The house was clean, beds were comfortable, kitchen was well stocked and the caretaker (Dan) was so helpful. The house was exactly as described on VRBO. Being able to choose the sea or the ocean for a day of adventure was great. Loved being away from the settlement for privacy and adventure. Mike couldn't have been more helpful with travel arrangements, cart rental, activity ideas and general overall attentiveness. Thanks for a wonderful week. Marie, Randy, Emmett and Anna

We arrived at Shore Thing on Guana Cay June 18th and stayed untill June 22nd. The home is located on the southern end of the island past Orchid Bay. Travel by golf cart is a must to get to around on the island. The house is located by a very nice beach and located near High Rocks which is great for snorkeling. Can walk to Nippers from the house down the beach. Great views and breezes at the house. We had a wonderful time. The caretakers Pat and Sidney were also very helpful and answered all of our questions. We recommended statying on Shore Thing if you are looking to stay on Guana.

Shore Thing is a great place to enjoy the Bahamas and Guana Cay. It has a great view of the Atlantic and it's a 2 minute walk to the beach and a 6 minute golf cart drive to restaurants and bars. The owner is very helpful and quick to respond to e-mails and questions. The house is very clean and comfortable with all the amenities needed: full size washer and dryer, good coffee maker, excellent a/c and a huge wrap-around porch with great views. The caretakers were friendly and met us at the dock coming and going. Basically, we lacked for nothing and are already planning our next vacation at Shore Thing.

For our June/'11 trip we stayed at Shore Thing, a beautiful cottage located on the south end of Great Guana Cay. It's beautiful wrapped porch faces the Atlantic. It's a short walk to an incredible beach. We were the only ones on the beach each time we swam! I also walked to Nippers during several mornings. The views were nothing short of breathtaking. Shore Thing is a very well appointed 3 bedroom, 1 and 1/2 bath cottage. It had wireless Internet, DirecTV and a large HD Flat screen (not what we think of for GGC, but Mark enjoyed the sports updates). It was a newer built cottage, and very, very clean. Shore Thing also had a great grill on the front porch, as well as a dual head outdoor shower.

We arrived at Shore Thing on Guana Cay May 25th and stayed for 8 nights. The home is located on the southern end of the island within the Orchid Bay gated community. Travel by golf cart is necessary to get to and from the main settlement area in the central part of the island. The area around the home is very secluded and quiet. There is a very nice beach just a short walk away from the house. It's a bit sheltered than most other beaches on the east side of the island which makes the water a bit calmer and suitable for swimming. The shoreline on the other side of the island (West) is great for snorkeling and fishing. The Sunday pig roast at Nippers was also fun. All in all we had a great time. The caretakers Pat and Sidney were also very helpful and answered all of our questions. This beach house is highly recommended if you are looking for a quiet, peaceful stay on Guana Cay.

I have to say that the time we spent at Shore Thing Gauna Cay was the most relaxing week that we have had on a vacation. The house was super clean and the kitchen was well stocked for cooking. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were all very nicely decorated. The views from the house were spectacular overlooking the Atlantic and the natural surroundings. The beaches were amazing, powder soft sand and crystal clear waters. We spent alot of time at the beach beyond the white fence and saw maybe five other people the whole week. We did see lots of marine life snorkeling ; turtles, reef fish, rays, and even sharks. You have to kick out a ways but its worth it. The reef is a little closer at Nippers and is definitely a must see. Scuba diving and sportfishing are available and I was able to use both while on Guana. The local food store was a little expensive but well stocked ,and we were able to get everyting we needed. The owner was very helpful in the planning of this vacation. This was our first time going to the Bahamas and deciding not to go the super club route was a decision that brought up many questions. The owner answered all the questions we had and gave us some excellent suggestions to make the best of our visit. The caretakers were great. They met us at the dock with our golf cart rental, took us to the house and showed us the beach access. If you are looking for something really peaceful and private you will love this place.

We loved staying at Shore Thing; it was spacious, clean, comfortable, and quiet. The location was nice; a very quiet area near a superb beach. The house was nicely appointed and the property owner was very helpful in providing information to help us prepare for the visit. We had a great and relaxing time and quickly adapted to island life (using the beautiful sunrise as our alarm clock, enjoying the ocean views from the porch, and relaxed walks to the nearby beaches).

We had an absolutely fabulous time at Shore Thing on Great Guana Cay in the Abaco Islands of the Bahamas. Caretakers Pat and Sidney showed us where everything was on the trip in. The house is very comfortable - brand-new and immaculately clean - with vaulted ceilings and lots of space. Kitchen is well-equiped and stocked with staples - very handy - but it's still convenient to go to town for meals (about a 10 minute golf-cart ride). We had dinner with Jerry a few times at Pirate's Cove ...excellent ribs, and the seafood combo is great, too. Also had a few salads with grilled grouper at Nippers (major yum) and had conch chowder at Grabbers most days for lunch (super-delicious). Went for a walk every day on the long beach near Shore Thing, and collected sea glass stuck in the coral at Secret Beach most afternoons. Snorkelled twice out the Abaco Sea side, and once in front of the long beach on the reef. Lots to do, and yet sooo peaceful! I'm still somewhat shocked that a place still exists that is relatively unexploited by man (compared to commercial destinations) that is not much more expensive to visit than commercial resorts; where instead of being packed onto beaches like sardines, you can go for an hour-long, mid-morning walk along a pristine beach and not see another person (not every time, but on half our walks we never saw another soul). Definitely need a golf cart. If you want to go out in a boat, reserve one ahead of time (Dive Guana) - we didn't reserve and couldn't get one - lots to do on the island, though! Since there's not much available at the restaurants for breakfast, you're likely going to want to have some groceries on hand. Try to either get to the island in good time on Saturday so you can get to Guana Harbour Grocery before it closes (it's not open Sunday), or pick up a few things in Marsh Harbour before catching the ferry across. All in all, we had a great time. The weather was great (just one drizzly day, which forced us to stay inside and flake-out - not a bad thing), we had lots of excellent food and drink, quality alone time, and plenty of isolation. In fact, we're hoping to come back next year, maybe even with the kids! :)

Not much available for breakfasts at the local restaurants, either, so grab something at the grocery or take your own. It still boggles my mind, after staying at commercial resorts where you're packed together like sardines, that you can travel to a tropical location that is for the most part unexploited by man (at least not like many other tropical destinations) for a reasonable amount (not much more than these same commercial destinations), and not see a single individual on an hour-long, mid-morning walk along a pristine beach (not every time, but about half our walks we never saw another soul - unbelievable!). In fact, we're hoping to come back next year, maybe even with the kids!

Christmas in the Bahamas is a great choice for people living in the colder climates. We had 6 adults at Shore Thing and there was plenty of room. The home was stocked with anything you needed to cook with in terms of pots, pans, utensils, etc. One of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen is a two-miinute walk and the snorkling was out of this world! The reef was in pristine condition. The island residents were very friendly and cooperative. Live for a week or so driving a golf cart and get away from it all. Highly recommended!

Our family spent a week at Shore Thing and had a wondeful time! This is a beautiful house on a very quiet and secluded area of Great Guana Cay. The house was perfect for us. It was super clean, tastefully decorated with a fully stocked kitchen, gas grill and flat screen TV (although we didn’t use much). The view from the house is breathtaking. Every morning we awoke to a beautiful sunrise that we could see right from our bedroom. At night, the stars are incredible, and you can see them right from the porch. The bathroom shower has a window and you can see the beautiful trees and plants surrounding the house while you take a shower. The caretakers, Pat and her husband, were very helpful and friendly. The beaches at Guana Cay are some of the most beautiful beaches we've ever seen. The water is a beautiful shade of blue and as clear as a swimming pool. You can see fish and snorkel right off the beach. The beach near the house is very secluded. We only saw one other family (which owns a house there) at the beach one of the days we were there. We rented a boat from Dive Guana to explore other islands nearby and that was really fun. My kids (ages 9, 11 and 14) really enjoyed the boat rides and snorkeling. To get to the house and get around the island you need a golf cart as they don’t allow cars on the island, but that makes it fun and they are reasonably priced. We also experienced the Nipper's Bar & Grill Sunday barbeque which was actually quite good, but warning, it attracts a huge crowd from all the islands nearby. Nipper’s is also right next to an incredibly beautiful beach. We loved the house and Guana Cay so much we plan to return soon.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Shore Thing and had a wonderful experience. The cottage was everything that it was advertised to be and more. The owner was great to work with, very helpful and accomodating. The property caretakers (Pat and Sidney) are wonderful people and made sure our stay was comfortable and that we had everything we needed. We've stayed at different locations in the Bahamas for the past four years and this was by far out best experience. The cottage was clean, well equipped (including a new flat screen television and digital service) and well mainained in every respect. There are several beaches available in the area and they are all beautiful and with very few other people around. The stars at night were overwhelming and not something you'll be able to see in many other places in the world. I would certainly recomment this property to anyone considering a trip to Guana Cay and would hope to be able to return there in the near future..

My wife and I spent our first week married at Shore Thing in Guana Cay and man what a time! The house was amazing! Lots of room, cool A/C, we used the grill a few times and it was exceptional! The care-takers met us at the dock and had already stocked the house with a few food items we requested for the grill and it was perfect. Not to mention the brand new HD TV in the living area! As for the beach, well it is a couple hundred feet from the actual house, very short walk. The beach is incredible...it was like looking through glass! You can see fish and reef without even putting a toe in the water. My wife and I would spend our days walking up and down about a 1 1/2 mile of the beach which seems endless. Oh and we also never saw a single person on the beach....not one, our entire stay! We started calling the beach our beach as it truly felt as though it was ours. I highly recommend Dive Guana, Troy and his wife were great and if you go on their full day trip which is very reasonable, then you have to make them stop and you need to dive for conch on the way home for some conch salad, it was a ton of fun. Nippers and Grabbers have great food, burgers, chicken, seafood, and lots of conch! If you are looking for good music and a small group to hang with Nippers is always a good time. I would also recommend renting a golf cart as it is definitely a great thing to have and they are reasonably priced. If you are worried about cost, don't be! My wife and I did our entire stay including air-fare, food, stay, and even some other souvenires for 1/3 of the cost of one of those all-inclusive places in the Bahamas. Well worth it too! Especially for a romantic getaway or just a vacation with friends and family. We WILL be coming back! Also in case you were wondering photos do not do justice, this place is a million times better than one you can see.

Totally wonderful house! We stayed at the Shore Thing for 10 days in February and March and absolutely loved it. The house was everything as advertised and then some. My wife and I loved the walk along the Atlantic Ocean on a beach that we figured was the most beautiful beach we have ever seen. I would strongly recommend this house to anyone who wants to have a really great stay on a really great island.

This is a really nice to stay out of town and by yourself. It is a bit of a golf cart ride (hang on to your whatever) but beautifully away from everyting. If you sleep with the sliding glass doors open (as I did) you can hear the ocean waves. I would recommendent to anyone. Away from it all but then again not that far. Each time with the golf cart it seemed a closer trip.
