Guiones, Nosara is the place to be and our new home is only a short stroll to the beach - 300 steps! The beach break at Guiones is great for all, surfers and non-surfers alike. Enjoy early morning surfing, beachcombing and shore fishing, picnic under a shady tree and watch the amazing colors of the sunset. With the location of our house, you can enjoy all those things, stroll home in between for a siesta or a dip in the pool then fall asleep at night to the sounds of waves.
Our house, completed in 2009 is Spanish style with an open floor plan, pool, waterfall and tropical landscaping. 2 bedrooms, 2 baths and a loft make this the perfect vacation home.
The master bedroom has a king bed, 2 balconys and a terrace equipped with hammock. The guest garden room has 2 queen beds and is surrounded on 3 sides by tropical gardens. The loft has 2 twin beds and a privacy curtain. All windows are screened, all beds are outfitted with mosquito netting and the 2 bedrooms are air conditioned.
The front porch provides a nice shady spot to enjoy the pool and company of friends with plenty of seating. The living room is equipped with an L-shaped couch and opens up to the porch via beautiful handcrafted wood and glass sliders.

Year Purchased: 2006
My husband and I both grew up on Catalina Island and have owned a kayak and tour business there for the last 20 years. Costa Rica was a perfect fit for us as our Island business is April through September and Costa Rica's summer season is opposite.
We bought our lot in Nosara, Costa Rica in 2006 and finished the house in 2009. Each year we work on the house during our month long vacation with our 2 sons.
We love traveling through Costa Rica, discovering new beaches, watching the wildlife and spending family time together.
Why the Owner Chose Nosara
We fell in love with Nosara on our first trip to Costa Rica and bought our lot on our 2nd trip down. We picked the lot location because it is within walking distance to the beach. We picked Nosara because it is remote and the lifestyle is similar to our Island lifestyle on Catalina.
The Guiones beach is almost 4 miles in length and absolutely beautiful.
From Nosara you are an hour from the larger city of Nicoya and can easliy travel to Arenal volcano, Rincon river rafting or Biligua waterfall for some fun overnight trips.
Up or down the coast you will find remote beaches where you will feel like you are the only people in the world.
Costa Rica truly is an amazing place.
The Unique Benefits of this House
We love the house's close proximity to the beach, being able to jump out of bed and walk to the surf is awesome.
Mid day, we play in the pool or explore the coast. Quads, bikes and cars are available for rent close by.
The boys usually surf again in the afternoon while we watch them in the sunset.
At night we cook or BBQ together then play shuffle board, ring toss or quarters on the porch.
Walking the beach at night is also a favorite family activity, the stars are simply spectacular.
We all fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean and rest for another day of creating lasting memories together.

Our daughter signed up for the yoga teacher certification program at the Nosara Yoga Institute and that's what brought us to Casa Madera Mar. We decided to go as a family -6 of us- and we found this beautiful home on VRBO. The photos listed are exactly how it looks! Comfortable, clean, roomy, close to town and a short walk to beautiful Guiones beach. We went zip lining, ATVing, shell collecting, surfing and swimming in the nice pool. For breakfast and lunch we found great $5.00 meals at the Beach Dog cafe and Rosa's and for dinner, Cafe de Paris was reasonable and delicious. Coconut Harry's for beach rentals! Thanks Upton Family

We recently returned from a week in Nosara and loved Casa madera mar. We are a family of 6 and everyone felt very comfortable, safe, and relaxed. The path to the surf is very close, and you can be in the water in about 5 minutes. if you like to eat in get a car for super nosara runs as prices at the mini mart are inflated and selection is limited. Harbor reef and casa tucan are the closest resturants within 8 minutes. Rent bikes for sure- we had so much fun combing the beach or just cruising around and exploring. Sunsets on the upper deck are a must and the pool was probably the best part as our children virtually lived in it the whole time. Mid day siesta was usually spent in the hammock or in a relaxing rocker beneath the Lani. Very clean, modern, home which we definitely will be returning to next year. Ann Marie was very friendly and helpful and is close by if you need her. Thank you Upton family!!

Nosara is the place to be and Casa Madera Mar has everything you need to enjoy it. The house is bright and open but cosy at the same time. We had read a lot about crime in costa rica but found Nosara to be totally safe. I disagree that it is far from everything. Our boys walked to main surf beach every morning. The location is perfect. short walk to a private beach, a fun atv ride to main beach and town. We rented quads that were a blast and toured the entire area. We wanted to travel around CR and see everything but found once we got to Nosara we didn't want to leave. We spent 2 days north at Playa del coco and hermosa and found a totally different experience.

The house was perfect. Two families stayed for a week, and there was plenty of space for all. The pool was great for midday, when it's too hot on the beach (we were there at the hottest time of year). We spent most of our time on the veranda; it was so comfortable. The owners provided plenty of helpful information, as did caretaker Ann Marie. It's true, the beach is just a short walk, and the sunsets are stunning. Otherwise, there is not much within walking distance, but it's easy to eat in with the full kitchen. Also loved listening to the cicadas, birds, howler monkeys, and constantly chirping/buzzing/humming insects. After spending a week traveling in other parts of Costa Rica, Casa del Mar was just what we needed: relaxing. If you've never been to Costa Rica, I would recommend spending time elsewhere as well, because Nosara is very American. I think it's ideal to visit both the Pacific and Caribbean coasts.

With all the choices and selected areas you can not go wrong with this one. My wife and I spent a week here and let me tell you it was GREAT. New , Modern, and Clean. A quick walk to the ideal end of Guiones beach found us on the sand and in the surf. The view from the deck gave us our beach indicator each morning. Just down the road and a short walk past the security gate is Harbor Reef. where we found some of the best food and prices in the Guiones area.Check there live music nights, and they have a great breakfast besides lunch and dinner. AnnMarie the lady who watches over the house is really nice and will assist you with anything you may need. At the end of the day The Pool and waterfall is the place to be after the beach. We felt safe and comfortable and will return as often as we can .Great Place, Great location, and worth the Money.. Look no further

Great house! Only a short walk down a private path to the area of the beach with the tidal pools and trees for shade. House was new and in perfect shape, and the master bedroom up with private balcony and hammock was a plus. Bottom bedroom with twin beds and A/C was great, and would be perfect for kids. Loft with twin beds was also a nice little getaway-- no A/C up there but plenty of windows and dualing fans make it nice. This house is in the Guiones Beach Club which has it's own security house with guards so that's a nice plus.
