Amicalola Falls estate description

--- THE JACKSON LAKE HOUSE ESTATE ---THE PERFECT PLACE FOR FAMILY VACATIONS, REUNIONS, ROMANTIC GETAWAYS, WEDDINGS, CORPORATE FUNCTIONS, CHURCH RETREATS--------

Check availability by clicking on the 'CALENDAR' button above. Our calendar is kept up to date!

8,500 square foot home on 45 acres, overlooking a beautiful private lake, ringed by the North Georgia mountains. Just take a look at the pictures and you may decide to look no further.

Located 1 hour north of Atlanta. This beautiful home sits in the middle of thousands acres of timber land and National Forests... you will have no neighbors. The 150 ft wrap around deck affords a view that must be seen to be appreciated.

The perfect setting for large groups of friends, family gatherings, wedding parties or corporate getaways. The house is conveniently divided in order to allow privacy amongst our guests. There are two stairways leading to separate upstairs areas. The master suite is on the main floor along with an additional bedroom, the living room and beautiful dinning room. The game room with pool table, dart board, ping pong table foosball, pinball, card and gaming tables, along with the home theater room are on the lower level and exit's onto the pool deck. On the main level five separate exits lead to the wrap around deck which overlooks the pool to the side of the house and the mountains to the rear. From this deck take either of the two stairways to the pool deck or continue down the 127 steps leading to the lake and the floating dock where you will find a canoe, a john boat as well as a peddle boat. If you like to fish you've come to the right place, bass, trout and bream swim in abundance in the 14 acre lake. If you don't feel like heading down to the lake stay up top and enjoy the seven person hot tub, a 20' x 40' swimming pool with stone deck. A dozen lounge chairs and outdoor sound system make relaxing easy. A huge kitchen, surrounded by windows with a large dining table and a large stone fireplace serves as a great gathering place. All this makes it possible to spend time enjoying friends and family while still being able to find your own private space to read, relax, boat, swim,or watch movies and sports on TV.

If you need a sixth bedroom, there is an optional 'mother-in-law' suite on the lower level which can sleep 6-8 and has a kitchen with full bath.

If you want to do a little exploring by car there is plenty to see in the area. The historic town of Dahlonega is 15 minutes away and Ellijay is 25 minutes away. The entrance to Amicalola Falls State Park is less than a 10 minute drive. Hiking trails and horseback riding opportunities abound. The Kangaroo Conservation Center, with the largest concentration of kangaroos outside of Australia is just down the road and the Chestatee Wildlife Preserve, home to tigers, bears, camels, monkeys and more, is located on Old Dahlonega Highway (SR 115) in Dahlonega. The Premium Outlet Malls are 20 minutes away in Dawsonville. And don't forget to ask about the Funky Chicken Art Project, you will not find another 'art gallery' quite like it!

But if you want to just spend time away from it all this is the place, sit on the deck overlooking the lake and watch the sun set behind the mountains, canoe or fish, walk wooded trails or sit by the pool and cook on the grill. You'll never want to leave. Minimum stay may be required (-:

This is a great house and location. The view is beautiful. We had 13 people and had plenty of space to spread out plus could have had more very comfortably. We enjoyed the large kitchen, game room and was there for Super Bowl which we enjoyed in the tv room! We enjoyed the hot tub and weather permitted us to grill! Would be a great summer place with the pool and lake! Hope to visit again!!!

This location had everything we needed and expected from the site description and pictures. The place was clean and fully functional upon our arrival. They even added a fire pit at our request! Wonderful location for any type of outing, reunion or family vacation! The grounds keeper was on call "if needed" which was reassuring but privacy was respected. Thanks for everything, it was great!

We reserved this property for our annual mother/daughter retreat. We loved the photos and description of the property, along with the rave reviews from past customers. We booked the lake house over 4 months ago, and kept in contact with the property manager via email and the occasional telephone call. Upon our arrival we were extremely disappointed with the condition of the property. The home was not as clean as we had hoped: there was goat excrement on the stairway, there were cobwebs and spiderwebs throughout the home, and the boats were unusable, due to being dirty and filled with algae. The gas grill was dirty (no one cleaned it, so we chose not to use it), and the charcoal grill was unserviceable, and had to be replaced. The towels were worn and not fit for use. Plaster was dropping from the ceiling of the game room, due to leaks we assume were from the bathroom above. The bath tub had a slow drain, there was hair all over the bathroom floor, sinks, commodes, etc. and finally, the air conditioner was broken, with parts of the house too hot for guests to comfortably sleep in. The property manager replaced the towels and grill, and took care of the pool. The a/c was not repaired until late Friday afternoon, but it was finally taken care of. The property manager tried to fix what he could, and with a party of 26, we adapted and overcame, and had a great retreat, despite the problems with the house. The estate is beautifully situated along the lake, and the home is loaded with potential. However, when we reserve a home months in advance, and check in to find a plethora of issues and problems like the ones we encountered, it reflects poorly upon the owner and the property manager. There is no excuse for the home being in such poor shape when the property manager has known for MONTHS that this group was coming. As a result of poor management, we spent a considerable amount of vacation time with the property manager, instead of enjoying the entire weekend with our moms. It was also very uncomfortable to have a man popping in and out of the home when our moms were trying to relax. Yes, he tried to fix what he could; however, poor property management negatively impacted our group dynamic. This place is a potential gold mine- with better property management and more attention to detail.

Manager response: We stand firmly behind our dedicated management team and their abilities, both professional and personal. They maintain and continually enhance the overall condition of our beautiful home all the while making it open and available to over a thousand of guests each year. -We have been in operation for five years as a vacation rental property and have received many wonderful reviews, both posted as well as personally related, from you our guests. -We want to let you know that we appreciate your business and we are grateful for the respect you show in caring for our home during your stay. -Yet, we must express our regrets and extend our apologizes to our guests when they encounter difficulties as this guest obviously did. She takes great issue with the manner in which the property is managed. We are sorry that her group was impacted negatively and it is unfortunate that they were forced to "adapt and overcome" in order to enjoy their getaway. We hope they will accept our sincerest apologizes. ITEMIZED RESPONSE -One of the three AC units in the home quit working, the service company was called and issue was resolved promptly the same day. The "leak" and the "dropping plaster" referred to in the guest's comments were due to the AC problem and were cleaned up immediately. -The pet goat Molly was removed as soon as we were told the some of guests did not care to have her around. Stairway swept to remove any goat pellets. -The boats are simple, small fishing boats and offered to our guests as a convenience. We apologize that they were not up to this guests expectations. -The gas grill was wire brushed. The person who was to do the cooking said she preferred to use only charcoal and expressed concern that the charcoal grill was not big enough to cook for 26 people so we immediately went to Home Depot, purchased and delivered an additional charcoal grill. Also bought and delivered two bags of MatchLight Charcoal. The grills and all the charcoal were used extensively! -One bathtub did drain slowly. When informed of this issue we used Liquid Plumber to resolve the problem. -The guest said there was "hair all over the bathroom floor, sinks, commodes, etc." This was not brought our attention during the stay so we can not comment on the veracity of this statement. We do strive to keep the house very clean. -The guest stated that the towels were "not fit for use" (really?) We bought all new towels. -We clean cobwebs non-stop.

This house is simply amazing and had plenty of space for our family of 14. The property is beautiful with the private lake and view of the mountains. The game room was a lot of fun! (pool table & ping pong were the two favorites) Watching football on the big screen TV was a highlight of the weekend. The kitchen was a large enough space for us to spend quality time together. Everyone enjoyed the wrap around porch. The kids also enjoyed feeding the resident goats. Our family had a wonderful time!

Our middle son was recently wed nearby at the Waters Mill banquet and reception center. We needed to be nearby and to also host our family members and several friends who were traveling from Chicago, Phoenix, Palm Desert, CA, Indiana and Florida. In all we needed to accommodate nearly two dozen folks including our own immediate family from NE GA. Much to our surprise and good luck we found the ideal location and venue at this lovely home situated on 10 square miles, yes that's miles not just acres, only 8/10 of a mile from our wedding venue. The home itself is a mountain mansion but even more than that is its gorgeous location in the foothills of the Appalachain Mountains and yet is only 90 minutes from Jackson-Hartsfield Intl. Airport in ATL. The home itself is well maintained and very clean and ready to use upon arrival. It has all the modern conveniences including dish, cable TV and WiFi. We slept anywhere from 20 to 26 folks depending on the day of the week and everyone had a bed to call their own. The four bathrooms provided privacy w/o compromise and the availability of three refridgerators allowed us to have storage for the food and refreshments we needed. The views are awesome, the scenery breathtaking and best of all Mr. Edwin Alexander, the Manager/Caretaker was a very pleasant and knowlegeable person and professional to work with. We may be renting this home again in July 2013 for a social club meeting and would highly recommend this venue to anyone needing a large home or just wanting their privacy in a beautiful and natural rural part of NE Georgia. This place is a winner all the way around. We'll be back!

I went up with a group of friends from Atlanta and we had a great time. There were about 20 of us, all in our twenties, and we were very comfortable. The view is amazing! The house is spacious enough for people to be rowdy in multiple areas and still quiet in others. There is every game you could want to play and the hot tub was great. The kitchen was large enough for multiple people to cook and not get in each other's way. Edwin was very accommodating. It was an easy rental process and we will definitely be back!

Our daughter got married at Waters Mill in Dahlonega this week and we rented this home for our family. The location was perfect and so close to Waters Mill. The weather was perfect too. We had 22 people, ages 3-67 and the house was spacious enough for everyone. The younger kids had fun feeding the goats and playing with the toys in the study. The pool and hot tub were a big hit and fishing and canoeing on the lake were enjoyed by the more adventurous of the group. Edwin was very accomodating and took care of the one minor complaint immediately (not enough wash cloths). We highly recommend this property.

Our family had a wonderful time at our visit to your home. We spent alot of time hanging out in the kitchen preparing meals together and sharing around the table. The game room was a big hit with the kids old and young. The view was spectacular as we just hung out on the huge wrap around porch. We are already planning our return trip next year. Truly everything about this place was exceptional.

This is a really remarkable property. The pictures don't do the view justice. From the back porch, you have a sweeping panorama of a private lake and the mountains in the background. The pool is fantastic, complete with outdoor speakers all around. Guests have utter privacy, as there is not another house in sight. The property manager, Edwin, was extremely helpful and welcoming. He was quite responsive and clearly takes very good care of this amazing place. I highly recommend a stay here for you and your friends.
