As you turn off a two lane highway you descend on a private dirt road to a hidden riverfront drive with lovely rock walls , green grass and fruit trees. Then you reach the Mission style adobe wall which opens onto a pueblo-style home on a tree filled oasis facing the river. The only people you need see are the occasional rafters floating by in summer as you barbeque outside. Unless, of course, you decide to canoe down to Embudo Station Restaurant and eat outdoors on the river.
This property is great for artists and writers or just anyone who needs privacy and natural beauty without interference of neighbors or other homes. You will have one of the most beautiful views imaginable. The cozy living room has a rock fireplace and a large window looking at the Rio Grande River (just 15 feet away). Mornings, as you have your coffee, you may see our resident blue heron or our beloved bald eagle family overhead as well as the ever-present ducks floating downriver.
If you need more stimulation, then get in your car and do the scenic drive to Taos or Santa Fe where you have shopping, museums, skiing and many other activities.

- There is a private swimming area in far back of my property as well as the little swimming area in the front. It is possible to sunbathe semi nude there. I enjoy floating the rapids down to the front of my property, then walking back and doing it again and again. This is fun!!!!

I have found that New Mexico is truly the "land of enchantment". I lived in Boston for 15 years (in the Back Bay area) and in Paris, France for 5 years before that. I am an international fine art dealer and I specialize in 19th century French paintings. On a trip to Los Angeles I visited a friend in New Mexico and got "hooked'. My friend's husband had some property on the Rio Grande in Embudo with a little cabin that I rented for several summers to get away from the city. When I first saw the land (right across the river from his)it was love at first sight. Eventually, I bought it and kept coming as often as possible. This place became my sanctuary and pulled at my heartstrings each time I had to leave. I renovated an original, 2 story log cabin and started building a larger home next to it. The final change came when I had a major health crisis. I knew that I had to make a choice to be where I wanted to be and live my life fully. I sold my townhouse on Marlborough Street in Boston's Back Bay, and began landscaping and expanding my New Mexico home to make it the rural dream I wanted. I know that I will end up here permanently, but for now, I will share it with others. I hope that my visitors will take home a very unique and deeply satisfying experience. I look forward to meeting you and showing you my world.
Why the Owner Chose Dixon
It chose me! It was the last place I ever thought I would be, however, I stopped to visit a friend and she introduced me to the Dixon area where her husband had some property...that was it for me! When I saw the land I fell under its spell and knew that I had to return. I have traveled all over the world and have not found an area as dramatically beautiful as northern New Mexico.
The Unique Benefits of this House
I really enjoy watching the wildlife on the river and canoeing. Swimming and rafting are also fun. Cooking out on the river and building a crackling fire in the kiva fireplace is always a wonderful way to relax. There are some very special secluded and magical places to walk or hike with breathtaking views. I guess the privacy of my land and the rustic charm of the place are what I enjoy most because I can totally relax and heal from the pressures of my business and city-life. Everything else just either slips away or falls into place here. It is paradise on earth to me.
