Dubois cabin description

ALL NEW Comfortable FURNISHINGS
Need a 3 bedroom/1 bath log cabin near Yellowstone as a basecamp for your family & friends? Or are you looking for a little more room -- something that includes a 4th bedroom, 2nd bath and even an extra kitchen for your next retreat? This cozy log cabin on the Wind River is perfect for someone in search of either! And either way, the home will be yours and yours alone!

Our main cabin is a 3 bedroom/1 bath log home that has been recently remodeled & furnished in western décor and log furniture and is ready to be your next vacation get-away! The cabin also has a cozy attached 1 bedroom/1 bath apartment with a small kitchen that can be rented at an additional price for larger families/parties. This additional apartment will be available to the same party and as an extension rental from the main cabin.

The cabin is located directly on the scenic Wind River only 2 miles from historic downtown Dubois. Enjoy sitting on the deck next to the rushing river while looking out over the breathtaking Wind River Mountains & colorful badlands from the home. Huge century old cottonwoods surround the home, making for a very private setting. It is not unusual for guests to see mule deer, ducks & geese, bald eagles and an occasional moose during their stay.

The main cabin has a cozy stone fireplace in the living area for cool evenings. The 3 bedroom home has one bedroom with a log queen bed and a full bath downstairs. The downstairs master bedroom and bath have a charming 'running horses' theme. The home's upper level has two bedrooms – both have beautiful log beds & décor. One of the bedrooms has a 'wildlife theme' with Moose, Deer & Elk decor. The other upstairs bedroom, which looks out over the Wind River, has a 'Native American/Southwestern theme'.

There is a small game room just off the kitchen with a foosball table & darts. A nice collection of western books on the living room’s large bookshelf is arranged for the visitor’s enjoyment. The dining table converts to a 3-in-1 Bumper Pool/Poker Table for pool sharks & gamblers!

For those of you looking for a slightly larger place, the addition of the apartment gives you sleeping room for 8 people (4 bedrooms!) and an extra bath! The little apartment also has its own kitchen & outside entrance! Guests can also access the main cabin & attached apartment from the inside as well. The apartment is decorated in an adorable cowboy theme throughout.

The blue-ribbon trout-filled Wind River is a dream for the fly fisherman. The Dubois area is also a great place to vacation if one enjoys horseback riding, ATV, hiking, rock hounding & hunting. Winter sports include cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding, snowmobiling.

If downhill skiing is your thing, you will love the world-class skiing in Jackson Hole only 80 miles away.

The entrances to Grand Teton National Park & Yellowstone National Park are only 55 miles away! A great day trip from the cabin.

Come enjoy a relaxing vacation at The Flyfishing Hideaway on the Wind!

We were totally impressed with the cabin and had a FABULOUS time. So relaxing, so laid back and perfect for vacation. The cabin was spacious, roomy and had everything thing we might need. Plenty of room to lounge in the living room, eat at the dining room table or hang in the kitchen. It was decorated in a beautiful cabin theme. And had fabulous outdoor areas on the deck and around the fire pit. Deer were in the yard every day. We did get to meet Fred and he was just wonderful and so helpful. We were close to town, but in the country. Dubois is a great little town, too. The shops and cafe are great. Can't wait to make a return visit!!!!

We arrived at the cabin after a two day journey to find the grass unmowed and the furniture on the deck broken and unusable. There were also several for sale signs in the yard. When we went into the house, there was an unmistakeable propane leak - the house smelled horribly. We contacted the owner who said it was nothing to worry about and was carpet cleaner. On our insistance he contacted a repairman who spent the next hour finding and fixing the propane leak (and yes, there was one). We had also rented the apartment which the owner also used as his office. We had to move all of his office stuff to be able to use the kitchen area. The hot water in the apartment area also was not working and had to be repaired. Several of the windows were broken and had to be manually opened in order to air out the house and get ventilation. The next day we came home to no power - found out it was town wide because of a storm, but in the course of the storm the roof at the house leaked into a pail placed on the dining room table. The children had to sleep in the living room that night because the ceilings of their rooms upstairs in the main house were covered with May flies and we had to spray to get rid of them. We ended up leaving the house and area a day earlier than planned and moving to other areas so that we could have some of a relaxing vacation. We did travel to Double Cabin and found it beautiful. We also did river rafting in Jackson and enjoyed that. All in all, the area was beautiful, Debois was interesting, but there were a lot of things closed when we were there. The relaxing trip to Debois that we had planned for a year was mainly disappointing and we spent a lot of our time dealing with problems at the house and repairmen coming and going. I would not recommend the property to rent.

Manager response: The Flyfishing Hideaway on the Wind River is our most loved vacation rental. Our vacation guest book is filled with dozens of happy and satisfied vacation guests. It's really a cool spot on the Wind River. Fromthe minute they arrived they began complaining. The minor items that did need attention were handled by our maintenance within 10 minutes. Not so easy in a small town of less than a 1000 pop especially on a weekend. Normally our management would take the "High Road" and make no response. With 5 years of very satisfied and gracious vacation guest, these guests proved to be chronic complainers. Sorry these folks didn't enjoy the most beautiful spot in The Wind River Valley, The Flyfishing Hideaway on the Wind River. Fortunately all the wonderful guests make up for folks like these. Please call me anytime for tours of Dubois Wyoming and any info you would like Fred

We stayed in this cabin over the 4th of July weekend, Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate for us to do much outdoors. The cabin is decorated very cute in a western theme. We had 4 generations together & enjoyed our stay. However, this property does need some upkeep. We have rented many vacation rentals & this one could use a bit of work. I want to give an honest review so others know what to expect. The deck is a platform next to the river & is not connected to the house. The river was fairly high & very dirty from recent rains, so we were unable to fish. It would have been difficult to fish off of the deck because of the bushes, but it was nice to sit on the two white rocking chairs by the river. There are also 4 wire outdoor chairs and a table on the deck. Nearby was a rocker/glider. Off to another side if the house was a fire pit with cut firewood & four benches, The grill provided is charcoal, so plan accordingly. The main part of the house consists of a living/dining area with an open kitchen, a laundry room, small game room, bathroom (shower only), & bedroom. Some furniture needs replaced. The couch is broke down & the dining chairs are mismatched and mostly uncomfortable. The stove is gas and old. The oven dial is worn off so you will need to guess at oven temps. The kitchen furnishings are sparse. Bring your own large frying pans if you have room. The upstairs bedrooms have gabled ceilings & small beds. They do get very hot at night. We found a small fan in the closet & it helped a bit, but the air was difficult to get moving until early a.m. The shower has very low water pressure, Bring extra toilet paper if you plan to stay more than 1 day, You get 1 roll of single ply. The attached apartment was nice for additional privacy. It does not have a tv and only has a small bed which could use the mattress replaced. Two people will roll to the middle. There is a small high cafe style table & 2 chairs but very little else included. The bathroom does has a shower with good water pressure. We had adequate bath towels for our stay but only had two washcloths and no kitchen dishcloths, Luckily there was a Dollar Store in town to remedy this. We saw owner Fred both days as he parked his camper outside to use the wifi. He was very accommodating with allowing us a little xtra time at checkout. The roof leaked in 2 spots, & there are a few cracked windows. A few improvements would move this vacation rental up in ratings

Great place for fishing and we loved the cabin, but traveled back and forth to Yellowstone and the Tetons two days and it was a lot more additional driving after our already long trip from Northwest Arkansas/Southwest Missouri. We loved having a fire in the fireplace after dinner and roasting marshmellows and just relaxing. Our Host was great also!

We had a wonderful time at the cabin! Dubois is a fun little town that was convenient to what we wanted to do. We ate at the Cowboy Cafe and had donuts at Daylight Donuts. We highly recommend both. We also attended the rodeo on Friday night and had a great time. Double Cabin is a must do while you're in town. It is absolutely beautiful and rivals anything you will see in Yellowstone and Jackson for scenery as well as wildlife viewing. Be aware that the road is rough and rutted. It's worth the effort to get there, but if you have a car like ours (Nissan Altima), it might take some time off its life. We did enjoy the lower loop at Yellowstone and horseback riding with Mill Iron Ranch in Jackson. Both of these things are day trips from the cabin. There is construction on Togwotee pass, but we found that if we left early in the morning, we did not run into much trouble. We also went up Union Pass and loved the drive and the snow at the top. If you are looking for a good value, look no further than the Fly Fishing Hideaway. It is far less expensive than anything you will get in Jackson of comparable size. We found it quiet and peaceful. Loved sitting by the river. The cabin has some extras that I was not expecting to find: Kitchenaid blender in kitchen,George Foreman grill in kitchen, fire ring and fire wood for the ring and the fireplace, clothesline in yard. The only things missing were toilet paper (we got one roll for the week which did not work for our family of four) and a working DVD player. I'm sure that Fred and Laurie would have remedied these situations if we would have asked, but it wasn't a big enough deal for us to make a call. However, it would be ideal to have those things at the cabin. We would definitely stay again.

The house is beautiful! Loved having coffee on the deck by the river. The weather was perfect. The deer came every morning and stayed until we left in the morning. Loved the town and all the mountain views. All the info in the welcome packet was great. We went to double cabin - beautiful - and did a few other hikes. We loved our vacation. Thanks for everything!

Thank you so much for making this week one we'll never forget. Being from Alabama and here for the first time is like being in another world. We've been a few places in our lives, but nothing as beautiful as this area. Our favorite places were many but it sure was nice knowing we had the cabin to come back to and relax. Everything we needed is here and the decorating is magnificent. We will surely want to come back and stay here. Thanks for all!

Thank you for letting us stay in your cabin. I LOVED it! It was so cozy & comfortable. We enjoyed seeing the deer in the front yard and the beautiful view of the river. Dubois was great and so was Yellowstone. When other people come here, I hope they have as much fun and enjoy the warmth of the cabin as I did!

Dubois is as beautiful, if not more beautiful, than Yellowstone & the Grand Tetons. We went rafting in Jackson, horseback riding in the Tetons (a must!), Yellowstone, Double Cabin (beautiful), Brooks Lake and the Cowboy Cafe (many times). We loved the cabin, the river and the weather. This is definitely a place God spent a little extra time in creating. We take home MANY memories and pictures from this amazing week. Thank you for providing a beautiful & comfortable place to call home for a short time.
