Need a 3 bedroom/1 bath log cabin near Yellowstone as a basecamp for your family & friends? Or are you looking for a little more room -- something that includes a 4th bedroom, 2nd bath and even an extra kitchen for your next retreat? This cozy log cabin on the Wind River is perfect for someone in search of either! And either way, the home will be yours and yours alone!
Our main cabin is a 3 bedroom/1 bath log home that has been recently remodeled & furnished in western décor and log furniture and is ready to be your next vacation get-away! The cabin also has a cozy attached 1 bedroom/1 bath apartment with a small kitchen that can be rented at an additional price for larger families/parties. The apartment WILL NOT be rented out to two separate groups! This additional apartment will only be available to the same party and only as an extension rental from the main cabin.
The cabin is located directly on the scenic Wind River only 2 miles from historic downtown Dubois. Enjoy sitting on the deck next to the rushing river while looking out over the breathtaking Wind River Mountains & colorful badlands from the home. Huge century old cottonwoods surround the home, making for a very private setting. It is not unusual for guests to see mule deer, ducks & geese, bald eagles and an occasional moose during their stay.
The main cabin has a cozy stone fireplace in the living area for cool evenings. The 3 bedroom home has one bedroom with a log queen bed and a full bath downstairs. The downstairs master bedroom and bath have a charming "running horses" theme. The home's upper level has two bedrooms – both have beautiful log beds & décor. One of the bedrooms has a "wildlife theme" with Moose, Deer & Elk decor. The other upstairs bedroom, which looks out over the Wind River, has a "Native American/Southwestern theme".
There is a small game room just off the kitchen with a foosball table & darts. A nice collection of western books on the living room’s large bookshelf is arranged for the visitor’s enjoyment. The dining table converts to a 3-in-1 Bumper Pool/Poker Table for pool sharks & gamblers!
For those of you looking for a slightly larger place, the addition of the apartment gives you sleeping room for 8 people (4 bedrooms!) and an extra bath! The little apartment also has its own kitchen & outside entrance! Guests can also access the main cabin & attached apartment from the inside as well. The apartment is decorated in an adorable cowboy theme throughout.
The blue-ribbon trout-filled Wind River is a dream for the fly fisherman. The Dubois area is also a great place to vacation if one enjoys horseback riding, ATV, hiking, rock hounding & hunting. Winter sports include cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding, snowmobiling.
If downhill skiing is your thing, you will love the world-class skiing in Jackson Hole only 80 miles away.
The entrances to Grand Teton National Park & Yellowstone National Park are only 55 miles away! A great day trip from the cabin.
Come enjoy a relaxing vacation at The Flyfishing Hideaway on the Wind!

We had a wonderful time at the cabin! Dubois is a fun little town that was convenient to what we wanted to do. We ate at the Cowboy Cafe and had donuts at Daylight Donuts. We highly recommend both. We also attended the rodeo on Friday night and had a great time. Double Cabin is a must do while you're in town. It is absolutely beautiful and rivals anything you will see in Yellowstone and Jackson for scenery as well as wildlife viewing. Be aware that the road is rough and rutted. It's worth the effort to get there, but if you have a car like ours (Nissan Altima), it might take some time off its life. We did enjoy the lower loop at Yellowstone and horseback riding with Mill Iron Ranch in Jackson. Both of these things are day trips from the cabin. There is construction on Togwotee pass, but we found that if we left early in the morning, we did not run into much trouble. We also went up Union Pass and loved the drive and the snow at the top. If you are looking for a good value, look no further than the Fly Fishing Hideaway. It is far less expensive than anything you will get in Jackson of comparable size. We found it quiet and peaceful. Loved sitting by the river. The cabin has some extras that I was not expecting to find: Kitchenaid blender in kitchen,George Foreman grill in kitchen, fire ring and fire wood for the ring and the fireplace, clothesline in yard. The only things missing were toilet paper (we got one roll for the week which did not work for our family of four) and a working DVD player. I'm sure that Fred and Laurie would have remedied these situations if we would have asked, but it wasn't a big enough deal for us to make a call. However, it would be ideal to have those things at the cabin. We would definitely stay again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

The house is beautiful! Loved having coffee on the deck by the river. The weather was perfect. The deer came every morning and stayed until we left in the morning. Loved the town and all the mountain views. All the info in the welcome packet was great. We went to double cabin - beautiful - and did a few other hikes. We loved our vacation. Thanks for everything!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Thank you so much for making this week one we'll never forget. Being from Alabama and here for the first time is like being in another world. We've been a few places in our lives, but nothing as beautiful as this area. Our favorite places were many but it sure was nice knowing we had the cabin to come back to and relax. Everything we needed is here and the decorating is magnificent. We will surely want to come back and stay here. Thanks for all!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Thank you for letting us stay in your cabin. I LOVED it! It was so cozy & comfortable. We enjoyed seeing the deer in the front yard and the beautiful view of the river. Dubois was great and so was Yellowstone. When other people come here, I hope they have as much fun and enjoy the warmth of the cabin as I did!Did you find this review helpful? Dubois is as beautiful, if not more beautiful, than Yellowstone & the Grand Tetons. We went rafting in Jackson, horseback riding in the Tetons (a must!), Yellowstone, Double Cabin (beautiful), Brooks Lake and the Cowboy Cafe (many times). We loved the cabin, the river and the weather. This is definitely a place God spent a little extra time in creating. We take home MANY memories and pictures from this amazing week. Thank you for providing a beautiful & comfortable place to call home for a short time.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I was looking for a place to escape the stresses of everyday life, a place that offered solitude, a variety of activities, while being out of the mainstream of tourism. I have found it here at the Fly-Fishing Hideaway. It was perfect! There was an added benefit--the town of Dubois. What a fantastic town! Folks here are warm, accomodating and are friendly as can be. We fell in love with Dubois. Our activities included Yellowstone, of course, trekking the Tetons, fishing, visiting Sacajawea's resting place among others. We found the surrounding beauty of the Wind River region to be breathtaking. Most days ended with a cocktail on the deck overlooking the Wind River. This was a great vacation!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Thank you so much for sharing your lovely cabin with us. We really enjoyed our time here. Dubois is such a friendly town and a beautiful area. Our first day and a half, we spent relaxing. We drove up to the Bighorn Sheep viewing area and fished for a short while at Ring Lake. We spent Thursday in Jackson and experienced a float trip, the alpine slide, shopping and a short trip to Teton Village. We are heading back east tomorrow to the flat land - back home in Wisconsin. Thanks for sharing your little bit of heaven with us!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

Our visit here at Dubois was very enjoyable. We made several trips; Yellowstone, Jackson Hole, Cody, Grand Tetons. We saw lots of wildlife and will not only take lots of pictures but lots of memories home with us. We also enjoyed shopping and visiting the shops and sights here in Dubois. With all our trips, it was nice to come back to a comfortable, cozy cabin. Thanks for sharing!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Our first family trip to the Dubois area was a complete success. We loved the way the cabin was decorated and it included everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. We had some rain on several days this week, but still were able to see so much. Of course, we enjoyed Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons, but some of the other highlights included a muddy drive and hike to Double Cabin where we found petrified wood. Our finds made up for our clothes and minivan covered in mud. Another favorite member will always be the 33 different types of animals we have seen including grizzly bear, black bear, over 200 bison, osprey, eagle, coyote, yellow-bellied marmots, as well as the more common elk, deer, pronghorn, snake, ducks, chipmunks and more. More than once we saw animals where we didn't want to - in the middle of the road after dark. Be careful driving at night! Some other favorite sites were the fish hatchery, three lakes area [Torrey Lakes Area] and self-guided drive to get to the lakes, Jackson Hole, Victor & Driggs, ID (including a lime freeze & huckleberry shake), the Dubois Museum, Bighorn Sheep Interpretive Center, and many other drives around the area. We loved the Cowboy Cafe' for lunch - the chicken melt sandwich was great. We also had a surprisingly good lunch at the [Taylor Creek] Exxon Station - burgers, pizza & salad. We had a great trip and would highly recommend this location.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4
