We had a family reunion/vacation in Kauai. This house was perfect. Great having bedrooms with bath attached. The views are amazing! The house is clean and well equipped. Also great for kids. The owner has EVERYTHING you need for a baby or toddler. Location is great unless you want to spend a lot of time on the south shore. Highly recommended.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

Had a awesome time! The location is great and it has beautiful views. The layout of the house was perfect for our family! It had everything we needed, plenty of beach towels and beach chairs. We had lots fun using the boogie boards at Hanalei Bay! Overall, we had an excellent stay and would definitely stay at the Aloha House again!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

A truly tremendous value, this home is as good as advertised. There are four bedroom suites, all of them receiving excellent cross breezes from the trade winds to cool quickly. The beds are fantastic, and there is even a variety of soft to firm pillows for picky sleepers, and the sheets are high quality. The owner thinks of everything, from plenty of snorkel gear to a half dozen boogie boards, to a Weber grill, to what must be two dozen beach towels (oh, and those are Tommy Bahama, not some gnarly stitched together gauze). Pu'a Po'a is a little more than a half mile to the west through the Hanalei Bay Resort main entrance and down their hill through a tree tunnel, which might sound like a hike, but in Princeville, that's almost as convenient as beach access gets. The view is from the master upstairs, and the wrap around lanai enjoys a fantastic long distance panorama. When the surf gets going in the bay, it is memorably thunderous at the house. We have rented several homes on Homeaway and in HI and hands-down this was the best laid out, best appointed, most thoughtfully put together property we have been privileged to enjoy. The location was exactly what we wanted, and the area VERY nice. Access to the North Shore and it's many beaches was perfect. The house was easy to find and ready for our arrival. The space and supplied amenities were great for our crew of 9, including an infant, 3 y/o, 7 y/o, and 6 adults. We wondered if Kauai was going to be a good spot for the kids, and we are SO glad we made this trip!!! The house was fully equipped for our beach vacation, and we found everything we needed for the beach for all ages. Beach towels were more than plentiful, (and in great shape BTW). The kitchen had every utility we needed. I was glad to know in advance that the home is not air conditioned and how to work with the fans to keep it comfortable. That worked well for us. Beds were very comfortable (as reported by ALL adults). I'd highly recommend this vacation rental home!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

This house is in a great location in Princeville. The house is well stocked, roomy, clean and has a beautiful yard. We had 7 - 10 people coming and going for two weeks and fit very comfortably. The 4.5 bathrooms really helps when everyone wants a shower at the same time. Tracy was great to work with. Our only complaint was the heat. As with many homes in Hawaii, this house is not air conditioned and the June afternoons and evenings were very uncomfortable.Owner response: The Aloha House has seven sets of sliding glass doors to let in air. There are also ceiling fans in all the rooms. When the trade winds are not present if a guest uses these options the house can cool down. The month of June 2012 on Kauai experienced a drought and it was warmer then usual because the trade winds and the nightly rain were not present. The back lanai also is a great place to have dinners because the lanai is shaded after 1:00 p.m. and is a great place to relax. Majority of homes are not air conditioned because everyone wants to enjoy the wonderful tropical fresh air of Kauai and the electricity rates are the highest in the nation. However, if one utilizes the different options to cool the Aloha House it is not uncomfortable. We ususally visit the last two weeks in August and we haven't been unfortable and we are used to living in Chicago with constant airconditioning.

The Aloha House was wonderful. There were two babies at the family reunion that stayed at the Aloha House and they loved all the toys and the full size crib. We used the jogging stroller at the beach daily; also all the beach toys and huge supply of beach towels were great. The kitchen was equipped with everything and was wonderful to cook in. The huge flat screen was great to use because the owners have supplied more then 400 movies for entertainment at night. The upstairs master suite wrap around deck was great place to have a glass of wine and watch the sunset over Hanalei Bay. We can't wait to return. My family, which includes two children, stayed at this beautiful home in January 2012, and our experience was amazing. This home, is a truly a home away from home, with all of the extras like the hot tub, outdoor shower, wraparound patio where we sat each night to watch the sunset. You don't even need to leave the house to have a great vacation, but of course you will want to as there are so amazing beaches nearby this location. Not only was the home a wonderful place to be, dealing with the owner of the property was a pleasure. We will definitely return to the rightfully named Aloha House. My children loved the extras this home has for them as well, like the games, the snorkel gear, the boards....My husband and I loved being able to put the children to sleep and to sit on the upper patio with a glass of wine and revel in the beauty of the location and to feel the ocean breeze. The bedrooms, the kitchen, the living area, the outdoor deck, the landscaping all add to the welcoming charm and grace of this beautiful Kauai home. It fits for this island too, the garden island. So, if you are looking for a place to call "home" while you stay on the beautiful island of Kauai, I highly recommend this place. I cannot wait to book my next trip to Hawaii, and I will definitely be returning to the Aloha House. Thanks to the wonderful owners of this home, as it stands out from all of the rest. Their love for this place really shines!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, people with disabilities, families with young children.

We absolutely love the North Shore of Kauai and the Aloha House fitted all of our needs. The kitchen was wonderful with everything you could think of to cook with. The beautiful serving dishes were used for an 80th birthday celebration. The Owners even provided a portable Webber Grill for the beach to use to have great picnic dinners at the beach which we used at least twice. All of the beach items were great we didn't have to rent anything. My mom and dad loved the beach chairs were large and comfortable. My two daughters went boogie boarding every day. We also were able to take advantage of the two bikes and children bikes. We were so happy with how everything was done so well with the Aloha House.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

This was our second time in Kauai, and we scouted out this location in Princeville being very close to the st. Regis resort and a beach. There were a few issues upon our arrival in which the owners took care of immediately, really great owners! We spent an entire month at this house and it really was a great rental. The beds were all very comfortable, the linens were aged but of high quality ( some were garnet hill) and the kitchen was highly equipped with everything you would ever need to cook any type of meal. Oh and the outdoor shower was simply perfect. The issues we had with the rental were few. ALL of the beach towels, and some of the bed linens need to be replaced ASAP, they were thread bare. All of the baby equipment is 10-15 years old and barely in working order. They really need to replace the baby swing, it was awful to be honest. The baby jogger was pretty bad as well, and most of the beach equipment was either broken or really old. Not one of the 12 beach umbrellas worked, so we bought out own. I do understand that rentals get a lot of wear and tear, but things should be replaced after a while. We did have an issue with cockroaches, but the owners had the bug sprayers to the house within a day, so that was nice. Cockroaches are simply part of a tropical ecosystem. ( but the kitchen could use a really deep scrub ) the last issue we really were bummed about was the smell of the house. Most of the house is carpeted, and carpet in a rental just doesn't stay clean. There was an underlying dirty feet smell to the house, in which was covered up partially by about 30 air fresheners placed all around the house. They were everywhere. Which is a good thing, otherwise, the stench would have been horrendous! Overall we loved the rental, but probably would not rent the house again. There are just so many good rentals in Princeville. Hope this helps!Recommended for: Families with young children.
Owner response: The Aloha House guest sent us this email after staying 4 days at the Aloha House: "We are all moved in and set up for the month and we are very happy! Your house is great and the size is just what we wanted, we did not want to feel smooshed, if you know what I mean." At no time was there any mention of the carpet to the manager or owner. The carpet since the guest's have left has been deep cleaned. The guests also sent an email that they believed they brought some coach roaches into the house after a trip to Costco. Thus the exterminator came out twice because he was asked by the guests to come back to finish. The beach towels have all been purchased within the last 6 months I have now ordered additional larger towels for the Aloha House. The baby equipment and stroller was all purchased in the last 5 years and a March 2012 guest said how much they enjoyed the equipment and the jogging stroller. During the guests month stay there was no mention regarding the carpet, baby equipment or the alleged "12" umbrellas and "30" air freshener, which did not exist. There was an air freshener in each closet. We have now added some additional baby equipment. Beach toys that have been broken have been thrown out and replaced. The eight Tommy Bahama chairs were in great condition that were purchased within the year. As owners we travel to the Aloha House at least twice a year and make sure that items are in good order for the guests. We have a family that has visited the Aloha House over 6 times because because they enjoy the home so much and have made another reservation for next year. Owner to the Aloha House for over 11 years.

About the owner: We have been bringing our children to Kauai since they were three months old. Thus we have equipped the Aloha House for adults and little ones.
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes:
I have been traveling to Hawaii since 1983 and visited Kauai in 1996 and fell in love with the island. The North Shore of Kauai has everything- waterfalls, beautiful beaches majestic mountains, amazing views, great snorkeling, kayaking, beautiful lush tropical plants. Princeville Resort community keeps everything pristine and were always excited to return to our home. We plan to move to Kauai someday and treat our property as a home always making upgrades for our guests and ourselves to be someday our home that we never leave. The Aloha House is unique because every bedroom has it's own private full bathroom. There are 3 lanais, private 8 person hot tub and numerous amenities for guests to use.
