If you enjoy ATV'ing or Snow mobiling you can do that right from our drive way as access to Arapahoe National Park is less that 5 minutes away where there are 100's of miles of trails and some groomed in the winter for Snowmobiling. Hiking or wildlife viewing in Rocky Mountain National Park is 20 minutes away in the fall with the Elk bugling is breath taking to witness and the ocassional moose crossing the road in front of you or eating next to the road.

Skiing or snowboarding is only 20 minutes away to the smaller ski area of Sol Vista or 45 minutes away to the ski drop off for Winter Park. The town of Winter Park for shopping or dining is only 35 minutes but for sking please plan on a 45 minute trip.

Fly fishing on Colorado Gold Metal Waters is less the 30 minutes away on the Colorado River along highway 40 between Granby and Kremmling. The fly fishing is also excellent on the Colorado River between Shadow Mountain and Lake Granby or in Rocky Mountain National Park for Brookies and Rainbows with Browns farther down the river.

Boating is only 10 minutes away on Lake Granby for Rainbows or Lake trout with shore fishing pretty good as well. You can rent boats at numerous marinas on Lake Granby or on Grand Lake along with Canoes or Kayaks which is great fun in the summer on Grand Lake.

You can either bring your own groceries or enjoy fine dining in either Grand Lake, Winter Park or Granby, with Devils Thumb Resort having 2 excellent restaurants as well. There is a grocery store located in Granby on your way to the cabin or also in Grand Lake so if you get there and decide you don't want to drive into town to eat you can cook your own plate with all the ammenities available.

If you enjoy cross country sking or snow shoeing you can do that in 5 minutes away at the entrance of Arapahoe National Park, go into Rocky Mountain Nationa Park or drive 20 minutes to Snow Mountain Ranch for groomed trails which is also called YMCA of the Rockies.

Our cabin is located around 5 miles off of Highway 34 leaving Granby heading towards the town of Grand Lake which is 20 minutes away and a beautiful town for shopping and dining. You will need an all wheel drive vehicle in the winter as the road is slightly sloped but drive way is plowed and all the firewood you need already cut and stacked for your use.

The full kitchen has granite tile counter tops with a great room feel as all 3 rooms (Dining, Living and Kitchen) are open and spacious. There is 40" LCD TV and satellite TV in the living room with no premium channels but there is a DVD player and a separate TV in the master bedroom with no cable but a DVD player for watching movies(There are around 40 DVD's). Start a fire in the wood burning stove and relax on our leather furniture which gives you a relaxed feeling making it very warm. There are also chairs on the deck for enjoying the peace and quiet with various wildlife in the area at any time including a local moose that hangs out that we see quite often. There is nothing better than enjoying a cocktail in late afternoon or early evening on the deck with the quiet surroundings of the woods.

My family of seven had a wonderful time staying at this cabin. It is spotlessly clean and well equipped. The beds are very comfortable. It was great having 2 bathrooms. We loved having s'mores at the firepit at night. The town of Grand Lake reminded us of an old cowboy town with several restaurants and grocery store. The lake is beautiful, boat rentals are available. There are several stables for horseback riding. The drive to RMNP is gorgeous, passing horse farms and stunning scenery(and a moose or two).

Fantastic Spacious Log Home

We stayed for 3 nights at this home. It is spacious, well furnished, the kitchen is a dream, the bedrooms are great. The four kids had fun sleeping in the double bunk beds and we enjoyed the peace and quiet once they were in bed. The house is very well maintained and the kids were delighted to make s'mores in the fire-pit. For my peace of mind there was even a hose that extended all the way to the fire pit or else I would not have considered making a fire. I would definitely recommend this home for my friends and family and I will keep it in mind for further visits. My only regret: we had to leave after three nights. I really would have liked staying longer!

Owner response:Thank you very much for the kind review. We are very happy that you enjoyed our place and are welcomed back any time.

We stayed at this wonderful cabin with friends the week of July 9th, 2011. The cabin was all that was promised and more. The cabin was home away from home with everything we needed and more. It is nestled in the Aspens surrounded by beautiful wildflowers and wildlife. The views to and from the cabin are breathtaking. The location is close to RMNP, next to the Arapaho National Forest, Grandlake, and Granby. The atmosphere of the area is relaxing and quiet. The owners are wonderful to work with. We will never forget this wonderful vacation and will someday be able to come back!

Wonderful!

Our stay at this cabin in July 2011 provided one of the best vacation experiences we've ever had. The cabin is roomy, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. The kitchen had everything we needed and the bedrooms were roomy and comfortable, including high-quality linens. The location offers just the right degree of privacy....neighbors near enough so that we didn't feel isolated but far enough that we couldn't see them. We had several sightings of a young bull moose who lives in the neighborhood. He even bedded down in the wildflower patch in the front yard on two evenings! When we walked outside, he simply stood up and quietly ambled away. What a treat! The small quaint town of Grand Lake is only 15 minutes away & provides not only great restaurants & cute little shops, but also the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. The cabin owners are very easy to communicate with and quickly answered all of our questions. The rental price is very reasonable compared to other vacation homes we've rented. We consider it the best value we've ever found in a vacation rental. We sincerely hope we have the opportunity to visit again!

Great time in the summer

We stayed at this cabin in July 2010 (after our wedding in las vegas). The location was great - short drive to Granby or Grand Lake. The cabin itself was just like the pictures and had everything we would need. The weather was hot allowing us to enjoy RMNP and the towns of Grand Lake (our favourite - nicer than Estes Park) and Granby. The BBQ was great as were the humming birds. The cabin was almost perfect - a better view would have made it perfect. Highly recommended.

Owner response:Thank you for the comments and we appreciate it. You are welcome back any time.

This house/ listing is fantastic. The owners are very good and easy to communicate with which makes it nice for all. The house itself is lovely. It is clean and very welcoming. The location of the house is amazing. It is right outside Grand Lake- the cutest little town with lots to offer. We loved coming home each day to the cabin (which is much more than a cabin). It was the icing on the cake. The house has plenty of room. No doubt this was one of the best vacations we have experienced and the house helped make it possible!

We stayed at this cabin for our annual snowmobile trip. Great access to the national park. If this place was built by the owner, he must have been a master craftsman. The cabin is absolutely beautiful. The living area is kept very cozy by an easy to light wood burning stove with an endless supply of wood. Two good sized bedrooms for the adults and a third bedroom with double bunk beds for the kids. We slept 8 very comfortably. Further, we never ran out of hot water. I highly recommend this cabin......dm

Just stayed here for a long weekend getaway. Very nice property and a perfect place to access all the local winter activities. Our favorite was the snowmobiling. We can't wait to check it out this summer.

We were so impressed with this property. The home was beautiful as was the location. It's in a peaceful setting with aspens all around. The hummingbirds were constantly entertaining us and were quite friendly. The inside of the cabin is beautifully finished and decorated. It was so hard to leave. the kitchen was also great. Can't wait to rent it again.
